Google play sign-in not working

Whenever I try signing into google play, the game keeps telling me "failed to load save data, check your connection." despite google play succesfully signing in on my device. As a result, the ads and leaderboard works but not the offline function. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the game but it changes nothing. How can I fix this ?
