when you pick up a stone, the pickup.distance reverts back to 9999 for a seemingly random amount of frames.

that means there is no pickup being targeted, not a bug. 9999 is used just so that if your script looks for pickup.distance<6 or something, it will be false if there is no pickup in front of you
