#Not sure if actual bug or intended ordering of how cards play out

There's a card that's a 2 mana 2/2 that has the text: "Whenever you play a spell, gain armor equal to its cost".

If you play her and then play one of the cards that does damage to all minions and kills her, her effect wont trigger. This could def be intended, but I just thought that since she's on the field at the time she's played that her effect would still trigger.

I was confused about that aswell, because in the Next Fest it worked before, but now it doesn't.

Oh, was not aware of that difference. So sounds like it may be a bug after all.

This is intended. “After” a spell is played (meaning after the effect plays out). If the effect kills that unit it will not activate the ability.

This seems quite weird to me too, tbh - a lot of card games use some form of triggering "on play" before the card is resolved (MtG, Runterra, Netrunner, Slay the Spire, there's a ton of examples), up to the point that it might be considered a genre-standard. This also opens up design space, as you get two separate triggering phases when casting a spell.

would riff effects trigger in this case?
