I recently bought a VPS (Linux, Ubuntu) and I'm planning to use it to host game servers through Open Game Panel (OGP).
I’m a bit worried about DDoS attacks. Can anyone share what are the best things I should do right after setting up the VPS to protect it from DDoS?
Any tips for firewall, iptables rules, or other tools you recommend for gaming servers (like SAMP)?

Actually, the protection provided by Zap Hosting should be sufficiently protective, so you don't really need to add any further security.
Of course, even a provider like zap Hosting becomes weak when an attack occurs, as was the case with Bohemia interactive at the beginning of the year, for example. (Arma Reforger / Arma 3)
Or they are targeted attacks on the backend.

Well, even with additional protection, you cannot defend an attack entirely. The heavier the attack is the more impact it will have.
And if it's too much, it can't keep up
