You can see in the screenshot that there are currently 4 farmers waiting for work with the field still visually showing wheat to be harvested. I painted the field until the size indicated stated it was adequate and no more.

It's because the fields are too far from the building, as you can see the building is in the resting state now!
It's better to have the building surrounded by the farm fields!

Huh, so even though they sow the field, they dont want to harvest it and would rather sit back and chill? I will redisign those in the future!

I had this happen several times aswell.
Do also make sure the storage isn't full, but looking at your farm ui you have 88/280, but yeah, a farm building surrounded by wheat is better than having a huge field behind the building

Yeah they never fill all of the storage. I have more than needed for sure.
