It looks from the dxdiag that there is a possible corrupt driver issue. The entry for Foundation in the dxdiag references nvoglv64.dll which is part of the Nvidia driver package.
In the first instance please can you do a clean install of the Nvidia drivers to see if that fixes your issue.

If you are using Geforce experience choose "custom installation" then check the box for "clean installation" of the drivers.

Let us know if that makes any difference.

I have done this and it did not make a difference

#

what next?

cunning perch
#

Is it freezing every time you try to start a new game?

dire pawn
#

Yes and only new games

#

old saves work but new games mess up

cunning perch
#

Are you trying to run any mods on the new games?

dire pawn
#

no

cunning perch
#

That's very strange. I assume it is just freezing and you don't get the crash reporter pop-up?

Please can you drop the foundation.log file here. You should find this in the following folder: Documents/Polymorph Games/Foundation

One of the team can take a look and get back to you

dire pawn
#

of course

#

let me get another crash report

cunning perch
#

We won't need another dxdiag but the foundation.log file might give some indication.
If the crash report tool pops up though then please add an email address and send through the crash report

dire pawn
#

is this correct?

#

dont know if it matters but managed to stay ingame for a little longer today, but crashed when i tried zooming in and out

cunning perch
#

That's the correct file thanks.

As I mentioned the dxdiag is pointing toward an Opengl issue with the Nvidia drivers but it might be a symptom not the cause. I will ask one of the team to take a closer look at the log file to see if there is any clear issue there.

dire pawn
#

that would be amazing

#

thank you so much

cunning perch
#

The team are very busy at the moment but will take a look as soon as they can.

In the meantime some things you can try

  • Check for any Windows Updates
  • Verify the game's files in Steam
  • Try another clean install of the drivers, they may still have an issue with corrupt files if the previous clean install didn't work. Also make sure it is definitely a "clean" install as just reinstalling normally won't fix any issue with the drivers.
  • Try running the game with administrator privileges. Right-click on the foundation.exe then "run as adminstrator". This can sometimes show any errors that aren't seen normally

I did all of these haha, ill try it once more though!

Great, worth checking again... PCs can be fickle ๐Ÿ˜…

dire pawn
#

dire pawn
#

still nothing working

olive oyster
#

We're investigating, thanks for your patience.

#

Are you freezing only on generated (procedural maps)? For instance, if you start a new game with a base (vanilla) map, is it fine?

dire pawn
#

Freezes on both

olive oyster
#

Could you post a screenshot of where exactly the freeze happens? Might help as we're looking at potential reasons why

#

Also, if you could post your foundation.log file from a normal map where you experience a freeze, I'd appreciate it ๐Ÿ™‚

dire pawn
#

its when the game prompts you to "accept advice" or whatever its called?

#

and sure one moment

#

the ss

#

audio does continue until it stops and game fully crashes, right now its frozen

#

and here is the crash report from the freeze crash from a normal map

dire pawn
#

Anything guys?

dire pawn
#

now it just crashes without starting a new save

olive oyster
#

Investigating, might take a while as we're very busy right now, I'll be back once I have more to share

#

You could maybe try to change the location of your save files:

Open Steam
Right-click on Foundation
Click Properties
Under Launch options, type this command: -userpath c:\foundationdata
Relaunch the game

#

Also just in case, you can make sure Foundation uses your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPU at the highest settings

Windows key
Type GPU
Click on Graphic settings
Click browse in the new window
Navigate to your Foundation folder (default path on Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Foundation)
Double click on Foundation.exe
Make sure you select High performance

Again these are just ideas, but it's worth trying

#

Oh and if you are able to send a crash report, please provide your email address too so we can track it more easily.

dire pawn
#

attempting the fixes you said just now.

#

it seems to work now but it has constant light flickering

#

epileptic attacks

#

nvm crashes again

dire pawn
#

?

Hi. Are you also experiencing problems with other games? I have a feeling something might be wrong with your PC, might be worth it to try this:

-Windows key
-Type cmd
-Right-click on Command Prompt, then click Run as administrator
-In the prompt, type this command: SFC /scannow then press Enter

Once the files have been checked for errors, try playing the game and see if you still have freezes/crashes

Also if you are able to submit a crash report, please add your email (click the Provide additional information link in the window) as we don't have a crash linked to your email provided in this thread

dire pawn
#

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

#

Ill try including my email for the crash report now

#

Managed to stay ingame for a bit and graphics started glitching out.

#

Moment of freeze

dire pawn
#

Reformatted entire pc now

#

Overclocked gpu

#

olive oyster
#

Can you post an updated foundation.log?

Also, when you do crash, click Provide additional information (in the Crash window) and make sure to add your email.

dire pawn
#

Ive managed to make it work!

#

olive oyster
