Tbh I would also consider Badum over FDD there if you were only considering HLE supp, even without wep having Badum vs not is pretty huge on HLE weathers, wepless Badum can really outdo other supports for her in a way none of the others can tbh

to me fws and fdd are pretty equal for underdeveloped considerations

certainly the team buff on FDD's weapon is concerning to miss out on (even if you get lucky and get her valk in carnival from the free pulls, i wouldn't recommend spending crystals for weapon) but FDD's ease of access to the ult makes her more friendly too

and utility wise they both have something. FWS with SD, and FDD with ignite or just general status enhancements

EDIT: FDD Is also RoO which can be appreciated for future RoO leaders which are otherwise notorious to build

in the long term i just feel being able to reach an SS songque with the ARI regen will be much more significant, whereas a weaponless songque gets snuffed out eventually

SQ is honestly one of the less ring specific aops, all of her buffs at s are either unconditional or require a specific valk rather than a ring ( more initial Ari with Sena in the team )

At SS her buffs don't really increase but her Ari regen is also only reliant on domain resonance rather than her being used in a specific team

SSS is where it gets rather specific and she boosts reso DMG which is exclusive to WS

In general she's really just a slightly better aop for ele teams which provides utility such as Ari regen that is not bound to a ring

Getting enough valks to form multiple teams and gain coverage is also something you can't really force but will rather obtain over time while playing the game continuously and getting new releases when you can afford them + their weapon

Yeah that can absolutely be something we can help you with, we do have to keep in mind that your crystal count is limited though.

Let's say for example next patch the new || Mei || releases and you pull her + her weapon and have some left over crystals then you could continue with trying to pull || hle the new Elysia on her rerun + her weapon || and maybe even try to get || FWS from the free carnival pulls || normally we wouldn't recommend the || hle || back pull but I don't think she's necessarily the worst choice either also considering your personal preferences

Now the thing is your pulls are limited and it's very unlikely that you'll be lucky enough/ have enough crystals to afford all of that, that's where we can help you to make a decision but in the end it's up to you to decide who you actually want to get

If this is regarding aops it's also just really cycle dependent, I have 2 aops( Teri and CX) at SS but all of the recent ME shill fucked me over because I have no sena and no SS serapeum

Generally it's really just something that depends a lot on your bracket the weather and generally your situation like everything in this game

Especially since retaining has the variable of real humans in them so it's even less predictive than anything else in this game, even if nirvana players are more likely to mald

Ultimately when planning around a rerun favorite we are making a compromise of some kind. So don't expect amazing results.

But it's better than being told meta is the only way for anything to matter in the game.

That was seriously a common sentiment years ago and it arguably was quite toxic. Your own value matters and the purpose of a game is to have fun. What's important with any bad value decision is you understand the trade offs and opportunity costs, and accept them.

meta viable kiana > go after FWS but she's already a year old and the crystals are arguably better spent elsewhere

farmable kiana > not going to be meta viable but you can keep the cost of this low and focus more on the meta with your crystals

you can prob still use her well as a support for certain teams (and she doesn't need her weapon greatly for these), but her best dps use cases/scenarios are prob going to be quite rare at this point

for an early account you'll still use her decently in other scenarios she's not as suited for but beware given her age, her general damage isn't as neutrally great as newer options nowadays.

this is in contrast with actual shadow star supports who may bring better support effects or additional mechanics from matching with the wheel ring type

so in the case of wheel of destiny the main gimmick going on is that during outburst you can use a support to call a phantom, and start a rondo effect. This rondo effect basically lets you restore more special attack meter and deal more damage as you attack

normally this rondo effect is short, but having a shadow star support call the phantom will cause it to be longer

so a vita phantom will give me a long rondo because she has shadow star

but VBm, even though she fulfilled my leader skill, will only give me a short rondo, because she doesn't have shadow star

not all dkeys are important to be used in battle. Most of them actually benefit you passively from the dorm menu. So collecting dkeys is important for meta in small incremental ways that do total to something significant

but the simplist explanation i can give is look at the effect of the QTE. Is it something you want for the scenario? if not then don't use it

for some valks, entering with QTE lets them restore meter/sp, or start in the middle of their attacks, or even just straight up deal good damage

Sena's QTE causes her to enter midcombo

this can be important because finishing that combo starts one of her main team buffs, and just does a ton of damage.

whereas her earlier attacks are awkward and doesn't do much for their time

so as a dps she pretty much always has it on

and maybe as a world star support (domain resonance tag here) too, so she can activate her team buff sooner

however, the story changes when she's a WoD support (shadow star tag)

the buff she gives to the team is with a different mechanism, not related to her finishing her sequence anymore

and sometimes you may still want to swap her in to drop a quick ult for slight damage with time stop

but keeping her QTE on will cause the valk swapping out to have a longer cooldown and the damage she does from the QTE when she's not the dps is pathetic

and again even if you don't own the valk, you can still try her out with tutorials. Granted you can't change toggles there

How do you know which valks are good with who if there are many valks that have a certain tag?

You can try them out and see how long their rotation is, (and make sure to look at their stigs and wep and skills to see when and how the buffs are applied), buff speed is one of the most important parts in why say badum is so good in GoI and also why vita is so niche in loa and wod. And you can look at their kit, to see how big their buffs are. And you can see what abysses you want your dps to take, like PS is used by Paws on Lightning clock not for anything in her buffs but because PS is faster than paws at HC

or in the short term you can take the shortcut of asking, other people have already done these before and will be able to answer it for existing ones

though that's not a perfect subtitute for learning how to do it yourself

on some former paros cycle, people were turning off FWS' QTE because they had chenxue for shining trace/sp restoration

but without chenxue, i had to leave kiana's qte on so that it compensates for my lack of sp

so that's just one personal example where knowing kits can help with adjusting from a reference to making your own decisions

simple reason is non-mech mode is melee while mech mode is ranged

yeah in most cases, you just want to go straight into mech mode. You don't really need the stuff non-mech mode provides

regardless of vita being dps or support, alot of her kit's stuff is behind weapon active > mash to final basic attack > use the charged attack if she's not in LoA ring type

stellar drain is there. damage is there. you gain sp that way for ult.

but for dps purposes, even after using up the weapon active > enhanced basics, you can always do other things like basic 2 cancels while waiting for the weapon cooldown to come back

also when mech mode ends, you can reenter mech mode and refresh your weapon active that way (but this more applies to vita who enters mech mode ahead of time rather than after QTE)

the thing you're missing is that she needs to consume stellar drain for those stacks to convert into ARI (5 ARI per stack assuming non ranked vita)

• EDIT: if vita already consumed her stellar drain, those stacks don't restore extra ARI

now in most cases, you ignore one of these stacks because the time it takes for that non-mech mode stack may not be worth it

you're still spending alot of time with shooting her feather things, attacking with the spinner, then finally the vertical slash after all

i kind of think of HI3 as a bunch of legos

not only are teams modular where you can pick/try out which one is most suitable for your scenario

but even in battle, once you understand what each action does, you can remove or add in bits and pieces to better fit your account to the boss' hp

and sometimes optimizing a fight just takes alot of tries of changing one action at a time

a rotation or valk actions isn't necessarily a whole open world. There are sequences to still follow but at specific points in the fight you can maybe deviate in one or two ways and you just have to try them both out
