If they express an interest on how the game was before then tell them but the most important thing is probably the Valkyries and how team building in general changed a lot.

spending money on knight bp can be efficient but it's not the most efficient in terms of crystals. Be sure to finish buying other more efficient packages first. Check the whaling guide in the pins if you haven't yet.

if you buy the bp now at your level you're only getting like half of the primary bp rewards. You might be better off waiting for next patch, buying the bp then, then playing regularly to get the full bang for your buck

I think there is optimization available too, since I was kinda slow on the first 3 parries and it is possible to get the first WA+Ulti from HLE in the second SO window under 1 vuln stack... I was getting it with some regularity even if I have no idea how to replicate it.

the ball doesnt expire instantly so you can wait a bit to gather it, and then the debuff starts later and lasts longer

From what I understand, bosses will play animations and proceed with mechanics as long as the player is not in a TFD state, so (assuming this is accurate) using skills doesn't delay the next phase or transition mechanics... Am I wrong here? Because sometimes I'm a little slower than the references I use and I actually have no answer as to why, aside from ping issues.

Like the TF you get on some QTEs doesn't appear to affect boss attacks (except that tank). If I'm wrong I really would like to know.

i have some small things to note here

• in the opening for the second parry you may also just parry it with your last BA, it kinda depends on where your fdd currently is in her attack sequence and if the boss does it's parry or eva attack
• for the SO as you can see the timing is pretty tight since the vuln runs out the moment i exit my finisher
  • to get that timing you need to SO shortly before you would parry the last attack and then immediately ult then it's really just tight timing idk how hard it is with low fps
• at the end if you still need more damage one fdd qte -> wa -> ult -> hle qte after the CA outside of SO is probably a good idea

i think you misunderstand ER and main game at that point

ER completely changes how a character is played. There's special animations, effects, etc that only happens there. Also the solo nature of it makes gameplay there different from main game too.

It's just different overall. You're looking at apples and oranges. One doesn't necessarily surpass the other for any valk objectively speaking.

There are some specific stages (e.g. some events) that may import ER mechanics into it though but that's so minor that it doesn't have any additional meaning really

if the boss demands a specific gimmick then you pick the best that can deal with it
if the boss doesnt or you alr filled the gimmick needs, then you look at the valk that can give the best buff to the team and/or the fastest
also the enemy having a type counter can suggest supports that do their job well and can deal some extra dmg while theyre at it

or enemy resistance or weather conditions .

for example if you need bleed then ou consider PS, if the boss is SD and has a lot of critical hits or far away ones then you use HLE or JDS, etc
in terms of buffs breach valks (that have the rings you need) are popular picks but you also have fws or ps that offer goof buffs for their dpses or are fast

generally speaking a valk will always have a general BiS teammate who 9/10 times is a breach applier (dsa/lp/fdd)
depending on the rot, you might not need as much damage increase from breach and prefer running supports with faster rotations or certain gimmicks

so for example, you would see hohe who is a terrible support be a BiS support for tank just because of her weakspot mechanic

RoO can work as supports for most things, but as dps they are very strict with which valks can support them.

tl;dr they are a filler unit that can slot into any ring
and their dps teams (roo lead) require other roo units to be on the team as well with the exception of hofi who requires her trio team

roo valks cannot directly support the ring, but rather contribute to the leader skill of the lead valk assuming they do not have the ring tag for a specified ring
so fdd will count towards miss espionage's leader skill, however during stellar outburst will not trigger wod specific buffs due to lack of the tag

Fenghuang Down and Abyss flower require you to craft a weapon in foundry to make use of them

there's also Oath of Judah but it's not reccomended to get in bpass because it's in exchange shop

Hofi is good at supporting those rings

so if you have a RoO dps (FDD, Vita, Hofi but she cant support herself) or a WS dps (sena, sparkle, simp, horb) you would use Hofi as a support in those rings

you can technically use her in other rings but she's worse

yep. Typically when a character is mostly dead as a meta dps (about 8 patches these days) they will run an ascenscion banner, where it's cheaper to get their weapon and can help you rank them up but pity doesn't carry over

and then they become unavailable except for paid battlepass a bit later, and then unavailable for a while longer until they're in free battlepass

by that time its slightly late because you missed like 2 or 3 bosses that is made for the new unit
but if you already have a lot of income or you have yet used up your one time crystal sources then its fine to just pull then wait for info
but if youre low on crystals then you can see what alternatives can you use until we get info
and if you think its too difficult to tolerate the new bosses then its not a bad idea at all to pull the new unit anyways

just note that the new info we get are still vague and beta stuff, it will give us an idea of what to expect but it will not confirm if you should pull for it or not

the main benefit from war treasury valks is that they contribute to your dorm levels as well, so if you want to unlock a valk who isnt in elysian realm for example, its not a complete waste of resources

And then support stigs vary, sometimes it's turg tb + mei pool party, sometimes it's aslaug and theresa gluttony, etc, depends on team and boss and who you own. Fu Hua Musician is also a solid budget option for newbies

In that case my advice is to save up

getting a valkyrie without their weapon is usually pretty bricked, meta wise

so we reccomend saving until you can get both at once

which often means keeping about 17k crystals in reserve and spending the excess on new releases, or just skipping banners entirely for a bit

if you're spending money you have more options but F2P players have limited crystal supplies

I know kithi (former prof) long ago discovered the trends to starter banner. It's periodically updated and isn't really indicative of current state of the meta i don't think.

But by the time anything reaches the starter banner, it's quite old that it's just not a good investment for your crystals unless you have any highly specific interest.

We already don't recommend reruns when they're a patch old guys. Edit: This is NOT because of rampant powercreep (very arguable) in the game. It's because in the long run, you simply don't have the crystals to constantly afford it.

General rule of thumb for meta when you're light budget/f2p, focus only on newest patch releases (valk and weapon together, ~40k crystals). For anything else, or if you cannot afford it, just skip and save for the next one.

so old strats haven't really changed

there are other strats although i'm not going to be too familiar with them but you can prob find them on hoyolab or on youtube

for the one you're mentioning in particular, you may want to also learn how to time a QTE (i do this with bronya though) just before white heat ends, so you can use the infinite KE chip to farm your way back to your next white heat immediately

anyway you may want to spoiler tag the character's name here since the way APHO2 starts does present uncertainties and can ruin someone's experience knowing ahead of time (regardless of how obvious it may be)

i don't really have an answer for that. This is a 3 year old mode that hasn't changed. Even if you get walled by something, eventually with enough time and upgrades, you'll overcome it

but assuming actual levels and upgrades, the KE spam is excessive really. People have gotten through APHO2 without it.
