I've found several programs do different jobs better, or more accurately, are developed to be purpose driven. Like Krita + Illustrator is a great combo if you're working on lossless animation or rigging

But if you're doing textures, Photoshop + Corel works great

The left side are some of the ones I made for myself. I've shared them here before but hardly anyone askes about them.
The right side is the corresponding one for the patch. I usually borrow the original lettering.
I'm most proud of the Rita Dur one tho. I had to recreate the background from the original because it liked the effect but it didn't quite fit in the shape of the launcher.
I wish I could credit the artists properly they are fantastic.
