One trick I use is I do the inking in Illustrator
this looks weird
So, in order to get my lighting correct, what I'll do is make a lenseflair object and put it off canvas
That way I understand where my light angle is
and can use that to color the rest of the art
What's looking weird in your art is there's not a single light source
It looks like the lightline is nearly overhead
yet the shadows insist on a light coming from the right side of frame
The coloring itself though is quite good

well highlight dont go over shadow, it's how it is, unless you're adding bounced light, which won't be as strong as main highlight
there's still crossing on the bangs, also maybe you think it's weird bcs you're thinking it should be 1 continuous rim
