Thanks! I had to look up the tradition with the lanterns and found its how they guide their ancestors' spirits by putting up family crests so it made sense when them being schicksal fighting honkai (i guess apocalypse family deserves it a little less than the other 2 tho)

Rick, about digital... Try to mix the techniques - I usually draw sketch and lineart in traditional, but then scan it and do coloring in digital.

There're some exceptions, however, like Sieg.

the thing with traditional is it's less efficient to fix mistakes later. at the lineart stage your drawing may look fine, but as you color it and have a better sense of space and proportion from the shapes, you catch mistakes you wouldn't otherwise. digital makes fixing and moving things around really efficient, instead of trying out a solution then finding out its still bad and you gotta paint it over again then your colors start becoming muddy

its not easy by any means. traditional or digital are just mediums. before the paint brush existed we would consider modern paints "easy" too. it's all relative. you could certainly be distasteful and make "art" by slapping on filters, but digital does not inherently mean lazy. any good artist can use both and will admit to the streamlined process of digital

yes. but in the real world, your clients change their minds all the time. so late in the painting stage if they say "u know what can we do this?" it kinda throws a wrench in your process. and even as artists i think it's not wrong to want to do something different midway. it just means you won't have to start over
