One of the cards in Phase 1 (not sure of the lesson) I noticed the japanese had "cool", but in the English translation it says cute instead.

Oh, in this case I think it's intentional -- かっこいい is often translated as "cool" but it also means attractive (especially for men), so they adapted the translation to be what an English speaker would say in that situation (probably between two girls)
