i wonder if anyone is working on mods related to changing parts of Sundered Grove? it's something that got a lot of attention and criticism lately, i'd be surprised if nobody was working on any mods to change aspects of it (such as boss selection, what type of stage it appears as, how legend chest works, etc)

most of the areas beneath the 'surface' of the map are hard to see in imo
the big one is that the bosses never spawn in the teleporter area
because there's usually something above the teleporter area and they spawn on that instead

when that happens, we need you to send an output log and ideally get a video confirming the teleporter hasnt spawned

You also don't get access to the file structure without modding your console initially

Like even long term. Consoles have similar restrictions to IOS in terms of what code is allowed to run, which totally kills all the tricks we have for modifying game code.
maybe next gen xbox + a unity version from 3-4 years in the future could do it?
Alternatively, hopoo could also remake literally the entire game to male it so we don't ever need to modify any game code.

This all said, some mods can work on consoles as is. If hopoo makes some kind of loading system, skin mods at least are possible.

So the core problem here is something called code execution policy.
To give a super basic overview, it is a rule that determines what code is allowed to run and what code is not.
On desktop, there are not many restrictions on it.
On consoles and mobile, there are.
In particular, any executing code cannot be in writeable memory. (Basically)
Unity runs on top of a platform called .net, which uses something called a jit compiler. A jit compiler takes some file as input (a .dll usually) and, converts it to code while the program runs. It then runs the code.
There are a lot of advantages to doing things this way, but in essence the jit needs to write its code to some place and then run the code it wrote. Mods can take advantage of that by overwriting the code it wrote (sorta)
On platforms that do not allow for writeable memory to be executed, unity instead pre-compiles everything, which means that we lose that ability.

The version of ror2 distributed for consoles is pre compiled. So even if you were to somehow flash windows onto your console, you wouldn't be in a position to mod.
so for mods the console dev team would have to release a not compiled version?
And the consoles would need to change their OS (and maybe even hardware) to allow for jit compilers to work.

You can either copy them from your game/beinpex folder, or you can link those directly by removing the old ones and clicking on the dependencies and browsing to your game files

which basically means you cant do boomerang attacks unless you want every single boomerang attack to bleed in the same way sawmerang does but only while sawmerang is equipped

but you do have to use the boomerang projectile code if you want to make boomerang attacks without writing your own boomerangs
and the boomerang projectile code is scuffed cause of sawmerang

question, do mods work in multiplayer? is there a certain mod we both need or do we both just need to have identical mod lists?
when i've tried before, it always said something about a version mismatch even if the modlists were the same
are you just downloading identical lists or using profiles with r2?

I had it set to give a skill point every 5 levels, went to bulwarks ambry for metamorphosis and got switched from commando to acrid - the weird thing is,
From then on whenever i started a new stage I recieved an undeserved fresh skill point for every 5 levels i already had. Same happened again when i got resurrected by dio's

dnspy is mostly designed for viewing. It has editing abilities, but you need to right click and hit edit. It will not always work, there are a lot of factors that play in there. But this is the most direct way to make edits.
dnspy is decompiling the compiled code on the fly, which is why it isn't just a raw text editor.

dlls are compiled code. Its a binary file. You can't just read it and edit it. You need to decompile and then recompile. Thats not what VS code is for.

in terms of game breaking, if you use 2 character mods that happen to use the example survivor base it will not recognize your profile

The way honporebalance works is super easy. Use modmans config editor, the option descriptions tell you what the vanilla options are and how to set them
