Loving the game so far, there's just one issue that I'm having relating to framepacing. I'm running the game easily at 100FPS vsynced (10ms/frame) but every 7 or so seconds like clockwork the game drops 3-4 frames resulting in a 30-40ms pause. I tried looking online and found it might be related the games garbage collection but couldn't find a working solution to the problem. Is anyone else also getting this issue?

For anyone suffering from lag on multiplayer, me and a friend kinda fixed it (at least it's playable) by changing the game's process priority to "Real time"
We managed to play together for 3 hours yesterday with no issues
Dunno if it's related but it worked for us so it might be worth a try

Hello so my friend and i were playing the game but he was playing the game free he bought the game yesterday and after that when we create a lobby characters started to load very slowly and we start the game his or mine (who ever didn't create the lobby) started to spawn very laggy when in pod pressing "e" it allowed me to get out 30-50 secs later. The game completely crashed to desktop. No warning, my gpu wasnt heated at all, nothing. just orange/blue pixels instead of game graphics and crashed straight to desktop. It isnt my computer that much i know. I turned the graphics all the way down. this happens randomly, sometimes at the beginning of playing and sometimes an hour an a half into it when im just ending the run, which is frustrating. Halp

The game is peer to peer, so depending on where the host is located at ping times might vary highly. Also, if just one of the players has a bad connection to the host, the whole party is going to suffer.

UPDATE: I have a solution to the problem I've been having! Description: Game was dropping 40-60fps every 6-8 seconds. Stutter stunter did nothing. FIX: Setting the processer affinity. Run the game Open task manager Find RoR2 in processes (BepinEX if using mods) Right click on it and look for "go to details" It will open to the same process but expanded Right click again and select "set affinity" Uncheck the all cores box Manually select about half of them Hopefully this will help anyone who has had a similar problems who tried many fixes. tags for people searching: fps drop cpu spike framerate high gpu stuttering

@ancient cradle I had this issue as well and found that the StutterStunter mod also removed the issue entirely for me, without having to disable half of your CPU cores for the game.

It is really bothers me because that was not the issue on my old PC with i3 and previous patch.

*I got the dedicated server working with a fix I would never believe worked, in Risk of Rain 2_Data folder there is a boot.cfg file, I deleted the "headless=" line from it and the server started working.

My friend's singleplayer and multiplayer solo (private) runs work completely fine, but playing with other people means he gets blackscreen.
Last night we waited it out and he actually spawned in (although 5 min late) and could move around and interact on his end, but his player model on my end wasn't moving. He was leaving a trail of turrets and mines wherever he walked and that was working fine, and his pings came through instantly, but his game is just so scuffed.
Is this a "wait til next patch" situation?
Also his internet is fine, we played overwatch together just to check and he had even lower ping than usual ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ

For some reason, this game makes my GPU run at a very high temperature with the fan going hard as well. I have tried turning down every graphics setting in the game but it made no change to how hard it was running my GPU. No other game I have makes my GPU run like this. Is there something I'm missing? If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it. Also there don't appear to be any other issues while this is going on, like no FPS loss/lag/stuttering. Running the game with an AMD RX 480 and the compatibility shows as "excellent" for my system.

@tranquil orbit I'm having the exact same problem. The only thing that worked for me was switching to a different internet modum. We just got a new one (which wasn't letting me do mutiplayer) and I switched back to the old one and it worked fine.
this definitely isn't a great solution, but possibly try using a hotspot? Or maybe its something to do with the wifi settings.

*I got the dedicated server working with a fix I would never believe worked, in Risk of Rain 2_Data folder there is a boot.cfg file, I deleted the "headless=" line from it and the server started working.

@ebon agate Make sure you have "steam_server_heartbeat_enabled 1;" in your server.cfg for the server to show up in the server browser. If it still doesn't show up, make sure you have port forwarded the steam_server_query_port that you have defined in the server.cfg file

Iโm having trouble with the demons and the crab achievement. I havenโt seen a decent amount of crabs and also when I do try to lead them off they donโt move at all. I can physically push them with my character model but they donโt get up and walk away like they should. What should I do?

Their behaviour is slightly inconsistent for time to time. You could force them out of their firing animation, or better yet, give REX a try.

I recommend setting up a dedicated server. My friends and I had the same problem, but I started hosting a dedicated server for us and now we have been able to play just fine.

@eternal flame Just check for "Risk of Rain 2 Dedicated Server" under 'tools' in your steam library. I've tried but the server shits itself either when you connect to the lobby or gives a black screen when you ready up and try to start (my guess is that the patch screwed everything up)
Removing 'headless=' from boot.config makes the client open like it's supposed to (when starting server) but the server freezes in an early stage and nothing in the lobby loads
