Hey does anyone know how to fix multiplayer, I want to play with my freind but it never works
Does anyone have the same problem, like we can invite each other, but when one is in the characters select screen, im stuck at the multiplayer screen, ive done a lot, restarted my wifi, my pc, steam, reinstalled the games, tried the dedicated server

@pallid ibex don't know if this ping will work but it looks like there are a multitude of people who are unable to play with their friends or even quickplay as they are unable to select a character as the game is not allowing them to properly join a multiplayer match. These people have tried every available option given to them to fix said issue and even @tight kraken, and probably a few others who aren't on discord most likely, have even contacted gearbox support with no solution. Is this something that is being looked into? Is there a fix? What is the specific problem? Any information would be nice at least because the majority of people with this issue just want to be able to play this game with their friends.

For some reason risk of rain 2 audio wont play through my TV (plugged in with HDMI) but everything else will. I have selected it as an audio device and risk of rain 2 is the only game (even on steam) i have with this problem

I did get random freezing earlier at start of stage 2, nothing was on screen. Was also lagging in game a bit despite internet being fine so I think it’s just to do with steam servers

Is there a reason why our equipments keep disappearing? Is there a hidden mechanic where there's a chance that some of them just disappear? I had disposable missile launcher+Drowned, and at some point I noticed my equipment was gone. I picked up a capacitor and it was used a few times then it was gone in the same stage.

If you can find your save file on disk you can try replacing this highlighted part with <stats>
that's about all the help I can give unfortunately. Some parts of the save file were probably lost forever but this would likely give partial recovery.

Me and a couple of other friends are having issues joining each other to play a game of multiplayer. None of us can party up, nor can we join through game launch. If we do manage to join we either end up in the MP menu, without the player list in the top right saying we joined or in a blackscreen where we can only see the cursor, after which we are slowly returned to the initial menu. Has anyone found the cause or any solutions to this?

Yo! Been playing this game for a good while now, enjoying the shit out of it. Currently coming back from a break to try and unlock all the skins/loadouts on the characters I enjoy, but I'm experiencing technical difficulties.
This game is running really hot on my graphics card (||2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (MSI)||).
I've got a decent PC that's been cleaned out recently, and I can run games like Sniper Elite 4, No Mans Sky, Dark Souls III, PUBG, only peaking at around 76 °C. in high-intensity areas.
Recently in RoR2, though, it just builds. Starts at an easy 60~ °C, then over the first stage and continuing at a slow rate, builds in to the high 70s. Doesn't go down on a new stage when there's no enemies. Continues to get hot with only a dozen in the area. I listen to the PC and it doesn't even sound like fans are engaging? Just like the PC is letting the temperature slowly build for some reason.
I haven't been able to play passed the second stage, since it goes up to 80°C and I don't fully own the PC so I don't wanna risk burnin' her out early.
I've tried lowering all graphics settings down to pretty much minimum, but I don't ever remember having temperature issues when I first started playing on medium/high settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a ton!

I have fiber optic, my friend lives an hour away, and I ping over 2k every few seconds. When I host he bounces ping. It never used to be this way so what happened? A fix would be appreciated.

Multiplayer won't le me or my friends join each other. When we try booting from a steam invite, it simply puts us back on the main menu, and when we try inviting from in game either nothing happens, or we join on their screen, and when they try starting the lobby none of us follow the leader

It depends a lot on which vpn you're using - they're not all the same. It effectively means you're connecting to the internet through someone else's computer, and it can be set up in different ways on the VPN's side
for example if you connect through a work or college VPN, you get the firewall policies for your workplace or college applied to the connection

I'm in Australia and the majority of the free vpns are to America. I don't see the point in PAYING a fee to be able to play a private game with my friends. It would be nice if gearbox support would reply to my emails so I could try and figure out what the actual issue is so that it could be resolved.

I mean if you're routing your connection from australia via the US then it's pretty obvious why you're getting lag. The question at that point is why are you using one in the first place?
Unless for some reason you absolutely need it to get onto the internet at all from your local network, there is zero point in doing that. And a free VPN service is likely to be throttling your speed in addition to the latency from pure distance

There aren't any incidental issues in game code that would be fixed by routing your connection through a VPN

@lapis jackal @next schooner Game trows dirrect connection thru steam servers (there is many) it grabs servers that closer to your location (have less ping) It still dirrect connection (p2p) but with a relay of steam server. If something happens to that connection game just kicks every clyent and then the host itself - that's why it goes to black screen and main menu. (logfiles confirm it)
This issue indeed happens relatively with the last CU, but according to devs - it's a coincedence. They think it's steam servers beeing wierd.
Vpn indeed can help. In this case you're not useing steam servers, but vpn servers to pass connection.(use port 7777 - have to open on both pcs) You also can use dirrect connect if your routers have open ports. You will need console ~+ctrl+alt and command connect 192.168.1.1:7777with your host ip. Host needs to use Host 1 command

Hey guys, so I've just bought this game, but unfortunately I wasn't really able to play it yet, since I have the mouse acceleration bug in the main menu plus ingame my controls are constantly switching between m+kb and controller even though there's no controller connected to my pc. Hey guys, I seem to be having game crash problems. In every game I play the game will shut down and exit completely at random times. Sometimes it happens in the first few minutes, sometimes it happens a couple hours into the game. Hello, for some reason my game isn't saving any of my progress. I noticed this happened after I unlocked Acrid the other day; I got the engineer and rex in the logbooks for the first time but when I quit the game and came back to it later, they weren't unlocked. Same with my huntress crowbar achievement (which took forever because I got bad luck with items in my run). I've tried verifying the game files and making sure the xml file isn't read-only. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I wonder if anyone has any experience with random frame skipping within the game. My set up has not changed but since the last 2 updates it has caused the game to frame skip to unplayable levels when there are more entities on screen (which weren't a problem before). If anyone has had the same problem i have been having where the game is suddenly running on 10ish frames after the update regardless of high or low settings, i fixed this issue by going into the Nvidia control panel, going into manage 3D settings, then clicking on manage power settings, and switching it from optimal to Prefer high performance. I dont know why Risk of Rain is bottlenecking compared to how i could run more graphically intensive games like witcher 3 with no dip below 60FPS, but this has fixed my problem and the game has gone back to well over 120FPS.

how is the multitudes mod supposed to work? After typing "mod_wb_set_multiplier 100", seeing nothing there and starting the game in singleplayer it didnt seem to change anything. There was reports about that issue. Game is not gpu heavy. It wont load it to 100%. In most cases bottleneck is the cpu. Shouldnt be in your case i think.
Disabling v-sinc both ingame and in control panel should fix it. At least it did for others. Not shure what's wrong in your case.

Well we got to the 20th stage, I was making short work of the teleporter boss, and the game crashed from the sheer volume of late game particle effects. I have a clip of my character absolutely melting the teleporter boss. If I had not crashed, we definitely would have gotten the achievement. Is there any way to resolve this? Thanks for your time

So I've solved my biggest issue which was that I couldn't get my info panel to go away so I figured out I could bind all of the controls to a single axis in controller, but I can't figure out how to bind movement controls. @steady topaz yeah I uninstalled BepInEx and R2API, verified my files, and then reinstalled them using a mod manager. I'll never know what the problem was but it's fixed now
@short narwhal are you sure neither of you are running any mods? The game will prevent you from playing online if it detects additional game files

@torn raven likely you had mods installed that got too old to support game.
You could surgically delete modfiles and folders, or entire game and reinstall it. Note that steam uninstall wont delete your modfiles for you. You need to do it manually.

I just noticed sprinting causes a noticable framerate drop on risk of rain 2
I don't know if anybody else has this issue
Is this a bug or is it something with my configuration
As you can see in the video, the gpu usage drops to 40% while im sprinting and so does the framerate
It doesn't happen every time i sprint, but when it happens if i keep on sprinting it lasts quite long
It seems to also be triggered occasionally just by running. but standing still it doesn't really happen
Graphics settings seem to not affect this, as reducing the resolution to full hd does nothing
Simply running to a wall so that nothing new should be rendered causes the same fps drops

There should be an xml file in there with a bunch of random characters, i.e 2919dc8a-fd4c-4c3c-bd7d-8aeeac67b831.xml. Open the .xml file in Notepad.
We're not allowed to share savefiles or game dlls here. But you can donate the contents of your savefile to your friend. If you played together there should be relatively similar progress.
Note that you need the contents of this file, and not the file itself, it personificated.

I play in Russian localization, and during the game I found several localisation errors. Therefore, it prompted me to check absolutely all translations in the game. I corrected 32 translation inaccuracies, below is a complete table with all the changes and comments why this is so.

I bought RoR2 a month ago for my gf and for myself. We really liked it and played the game almost every day, through Geforce NOW. Since the NVIDIA removed the RoR2 from the GFN service, we (and many other players) can't play the RoR2.

@fluid inlet if you used mods before - likely you got old api for mods. uninstalling with steam does no effect, as mod files wont be deleted. You need to delete entire game folder after uninstalling the game, or simply deleting modfiles.

However in order to connect people around the world togeter game uses steam servers to pass connections. If steam servers are bisy - it takes too long to deliver packets of data. It was a weekend and it seems steam servers was almost full.
There is many servers, but the game picks closests one based on ping. Game doesnt think what server will be suitable, it just picks whatever server have less ping.
Try it now, should be better connection.

Hey I bought this game a year ago and I had multiplayer issues and already wrote with someone from the discord but then just accepted that the game just doesn't work, today I wanted to try again and I reinstalled vc 2015 aswell as making sure I was in the correct time zone. For lan everyone should be in the same network.
Copy your host's ip provided by this software.
Host needs to be in main menu. Open console +alt+ctrl** and execute **host 1** command. Clyents should open console **+alt+ctrl and execute Connect x.x.x.x:7777 using host's ip
For direct connection host should share his external ip. Myip.com will show that.
Host need to start private game. He doesnt need to execute console commands for this.

Use radminVPN, as it is free and easy to use. If it works fine with direct connections - stick with it.

So my screen is tearing like crazy whenever I move my mouse. FPS is uncapped, Graphics are fully optimized, GPU software is up to date, redownloaded the game already, no mods on, nothing like that. game runs fine 150+ FPS when I do nothing, but as soon as I move my mouse, I drop to under 30 FPS

If it goes up up and above - you got a cryptomining virus that uses your cpu while you play. Advanced ones could mask themselfs and reduce load while you play games so you dont notice it.

it was because my keyboard would repeat characters super fast
So holding down any key on the keyboard would just flood the game and cause fps drop

My buddy just bought the game on steam and can't open it. It starts and a process is created in task manager, but nothing ever happens. Steam won't quit it either, he has to manually end it in task manager. It gets stuck at 2mb of ram usage. Any ideas? What we've tried:
- Restart the game/pc
- Reinstall the game
- Disabled antivirus entirely
- Updated all drivers to latest versions
- Reinstall visual c++ redistributable
- Manually create the save file with the provided .xml

Just purchased on Steam and installed on PC. I am having an issue with mouse input. It seems oddly unsensitive and then all of a sudden too much sensitivity in my the main menu. Once landed in a single player game my view is constantly looking down. Game is p2p, but it trows connections thru steam servers. When steam servers are bisy or gets a hickup game loses connection and kick clyents.

I have an issue (but I don't know what's the problem), but the idea is that when my friend and I play a private game lags occur (for example when you open a chest, it opens in 5 seconds, enemies teleport and so on). I'm a host, so I don't face problems, but my friends do. Also, if someone else hosts a private game I face lags. We all have a good internet connection (and speed). Hi, I'm getting an issue where when I join a multiplayer lobby, no character models are rendered and I'm unable to choose a character/click ready.
This has happened before, and I think I solved it by basically nuking all my .cfg config files and the .xml character profile file, but it didn't work this time

@dense spindle servers* Game doesnt have the censtralised one. it uses whatever is less ping to. When this server is bisy - its takes a huge delay time to pass data and game just dont having it and kicks everyone.
Could be avoided with:
- dedicated server
- direct connection
- Lan emulated connection
And generally its fine to play when servers arent so bisy.

@dense spindle its unstable, the only reason. Ror2 uses steam servers to not mess with nat, ports and firewalls. It works very well in most cases.
But at the same time - when steam server got a hickup - everyone kicked. This is how things are for now.

Hello, I got a Problem when starting the game. Since today I cannot start the game anymore. It just shows a Blackscreen, I see the Steam FPS and my cursor turns into the Blue loading circle. I just bought risk of rain 2 for nintendo switch. On portable mode, the input latency is bareable, and I can aim at enemies with reasonable ease. On docked mode however, the input lag on aiming is unbearable. Just wondering if it's due to perhaps a higher resolution on docked mode... I feel it's a game breaking bug that needs to be addressed

This modmanager you used prepatches game and have no option to launch if as not moded (vanila). But that i gave you - doesnt need to be in game. It installs as separate program where 2 buttons start the game as patched and vanial versions. You dont need to thinker with mods inside the game if you use that one. So it looks like normal game without mods, only there is no quickplay and prismatic trials buttons.

it unrelated to those at all. Best to use with vanila, you wont need anything else. All the actuall mods will be installed/uninstalled within the modmager itself. If you launch your game with steam - it will launch as vanila.
those modmanager you mentioned - prepatch the game so you need to turn them off or uninstall them completly to play vanila.

Just trow that off the clif. Delete all mods, all api you have. Install game. install modmanager. Create profile, use modmanager to pick what mods you want - run it with start modded. And its all. No bullshiterry, everything will update automatically, dependencys will be downloaded.
You can run vanila with 1 click from modmanager or completly forget that you have mods installed and just run vanila from steam.

If you run modman - you can run it as vanila or as moded from there.
There no need to make 2nd shortcut as you always need to check for new versions of moded api and never mod versions.
My "shortcuts" looks like this. Right one - "moded", left one - steam shortcut. Both works

Try disabling v-sinc and set "performance" in power management in nvidia control panel. This helped people who had performance issues.

well.. you definetly have good enough gpu, fps shouldnt be bad at all. Type of connection from gpu to monitor seems to have impace too, but i am not expirienced in this. Ill let you know if something comes near me that could help you.

I tried to use the headset with the cable and it worked, it only doesn't work when the headset is wireless, but the first time I played it worked just fine without the cable

what i can and usually do for game servers, is use ngrok (tcp tunneling that translates a certain port on their public server to a port on my side by having me connect first)

Game is p2p, wich means it doesnt have centralised server. In order to connect players togeter it uses steam servers. When players found and connected together game uses steam servers to pass connection from clyents to host and back. If something happens with that connection game waits for a bit, tryes to reconnect twice and then just kicks everyone, inclyding the host. What you left with - a blank scene.
Recently this problem poped back with new force. Likely because load on network caused by carantine.
There is ways to awoid steam servers.
If you use dedicated server.
If you use direct connection: Host sets private game and gives his external ip to clyents. Clyents copy ip, open game console ||+ctrl+alt|| execute ||connect x.x.x.x:7777|| where x is hosts external ip. If you use direct connection with lan emulating software (or just lan): Host uses console to execute Host 1, gives his ip provided by lan emulating soft to clyents. Clyents copy ip, open game console ||+ctrl+alt|| execute ||connect x.x.x.x:7777|| where x is hosts lan ip. Both host any clyents needs to be in same network. Ports should be open.
To test how bad is the delay use console command: ||ping|| you will see rtt=9999 its the current delay from you to host in ms.

no no, the reason i'm asking is that if it uses tcp, then something else was wrong, and it's possible to use with ngrok
but if it's udp-based, i'm gonna have to use something lan-emulating, meaning that potentially all 8 players in our pool of players will have to start messing around with lan emulating software, and that tends to go horribly wrong from previous experience (hence why i'm trying to work with ngrok and just the host having something)

okay, A LOT of experimentation later, i have more questions, on the more technical side of things:
so if i were to try to allow people from outside my network to connect to a dedicated server, which ports do they need to be able to access on my pc?
and assuming that i cannot port forward, and would rather avoid lan emulating software, instead opting to use stuff like ngrok (tcp tunneling), which ports would i need to then open on ngrok from my computer? are there any udp ports (that will thus make my effort impossible as i cannot tunnel those?)
and am i overcomplicating this? because so far, from what i gather, the issue i'm having, which is that when i join X person's lobby or they join mine, the joinee cannot pick a character or interact with anything, getting just a partial gui, is caused by the steam servers. so i'm trying to use direct connection instead, but that's bringing these problems
i'm simply looking for a solution to that more than anything, because nothing i've done so far (including computer restarts, file validating, and more), has fixed this, and it's only happening with specific people (the most extreme example being that one friend could join, but two others couldn't, and when either one of them hosted, i would get this issue instead when trying to join them, but they didn't get it with eachother)

I play on Console so we just got the Hidden Realms update today and I really enjoy it. My only issue is that for some reason everytime I stabilize the void cells it doesn't give me the Acrid unlock. I've tried 3 times now. Can anyone help me out?
