@pallid ibex I could only run the game on my integrated graphics and trying to use my GTX 970 would just give me a black screen and audio but I could still click the menu buttons cuz I could hear them when my mouse moved over them. I finally managed to get it work properly on my 970 by going into the properties of the game, bit the steam properties but going into local files and right clicking on the game shortcut in the folder and selecting properties, going to Compatibility, and selecting High DPI settings. I then ticked off the box at the top and the one at the bottom and changed the drop down box at the bottom to say System. I don’t remember exactly what the settings in the High DPI settings page and I won’t be able to check until later today when I leave work but I’d be more than happy too if you’d like.

My only other thought is your monitor is plugged into your mobo and not the gpu lol. Otherwise its some other bug/optimization problem

Hello! Bought the game last night and really enjoyed it. However, when i logged in today my progress was lost – mainly it was that i unlocked two new champions and all the items that was the major loss. Is this a knows bugg, can it be fixed?

@gaunt portal read the pinned notes, and since losing progress is a common issue at the mmoment, i'd suggest regularly backing up your progress on steam

i reckon the low frames is purely due to the fact that 150+ minutes into the game, there are a lot of particles and enemies the game has to render, probably causing a bit of fps lag

Hi, I'm having the same problem as some of the people above, not being able to press the ready button when I join a lobby, also sometimes it just straight up kicks me from the character select and puts me into the main menu. I can however press ready if I'm hosting, but the others in the lobby are the ones who won't be able to press ready. I've also tried verifying and reinstalling multiple times.

So my files become corrupt the moment I edit them in userdata where before they weren’t, and so I lost my progress and can’t copy paste my old progress. Dunno what changed because it was not happening before.

I'm not sure then... windows 10 supports language packs in all editions (older versions of windows only allowed this is pro/ultimate)
At this point the only things I can recommend are updating windows and see if you then get the options to install these "experience packs" as they call them
Or just install an english version of windows

Tried that multiple times, it verifies everything successfully. Only other thing I could read on it was disabling MSI Afterburner, which I did, but still got crashes, though I was able to last a bit longer than before I had.

I did manage to get 2 uninterrupted hours of play today after updating my drivers, but it seems to be more dumb luck than actually the problem being fixed.

Every time I launch RoR2 it reverts to my monitor's res
The registry key "Screenmanager Resolution Use Native_h1405027254" is set to 0 once the res is set in game, but this gets changed to 1 on launch
I'd really like to keep the res I set, for Windows scaling reasons (if you have scaling above 100%, it makes the game window bigger than the monitor, which causes... issues :P)

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but I have solved the 100% GPU utilization. For whatever reason, playing with an uncapped framerate causes the game to use every ounce of GPU power you have to push frames. Essentially stress testing your GPU. If you don't want the 100% GPU usage, limit the framerate under settings
Obviously still a bug, but this is a temporary fix

This update improved on the multiplayer issues slightly for me. I can join a friend's game, but they still can't join me if i open one. Unfortunately, after one or two levels, my game gets stuck after entering a teleporter or a portal and i have to force-close it because it won't respond. I noticed that the game doesn't freeze immediately though. Any one with the same problem?

Open cheat engine, select RoR2 in the applications tab.
Be host, and pick Commando in character select, and search for a 4 byte value of 18.
Pick Engineer, and search for a value of 25 using next scan rather than first scan.
You should have one isolated value now, if not swap back to commando and search for 18 again.
Set the value you got to five, and your model in the character selection will disappear. Then you'll be Bandit in-game.
This only works if you're host from what I understand, if not you have to do some C# assembly stuff that I dunno about.

Hey. Just bought the game with the intention of playing with a few friends - Multiplayer doesn't seem to be working for me in any form though.
Symptoms:
- I am unable to join people's lobbies. When clicking the "Accept Invitation" button, nothing happens.
- People are unable to join my lobby. People joining my lobby see it flash up for a moment, and then receive a black screen. This persists for around 15 seconds, before the person attempting to join my lobby is dumped back to the main menu.
- I am unable to enter quickmatch. When I click "Enter Quickplay", I receive the messages "Entering Quickplay", followed by "Not in quickplay queue". After a few seconds, all of the buttons grey out, and nothing further happens.
I'm behind two layers of NAT, but have not had issues with any other games.
Any suggestions? Game looks fun, would rather not have to refund.
Is there a log or something that I can take a look at to troubleshoot why this isn't working?

Hi! I am having serious input lag in RoR 2, about 200ms. Smooth 60 fps, vsync and all kinds of bufferizations in Nvidia control panel are disabled. Tried all graphics settings, no difference. My laptop is i7 6700hq, 960m, 4k native res, latest nvidia drivers, mouse wired, no input lag in other games. Tried playing at 1080p and 900p. Input lag stays both in windowed and fullscreen mode(lag starts the moment mouse hits the game window). Can't find any info on this problem in google or this server.

Hi, I am not able to launch the game at all, after I launch it nothing happens and steam thinks it is running, I see it in task manager details doing nothing, and it is not visible in processes. I tried reinstalling, verifing game files, restarting, updating drivers. Thanks.

@sinful sedge End task it in task manager, if it goes away then Steam should let you launch other stuff. If it won't let you end task, open cmd > type tasklist > enter > look for the game.exe and remember the number next to it (this is the PID or Process ID) > type taskkill /pid # /f
Where # = the PID you were supposed to remember. So if the PID of RiskOfRain2.exe says 1545 as an example, you would type taskkill /pid 1545 /f
This tells Windows to kill the .exe with process ID 1545 forcefully. Most of the time this tells Steam ok you're not playing the game anymore. You can do this with all processes you have access to (Sometimes even admin doesn't have access). If none of that works, then exit steam or end task the steam bootstrapper.

@sinful sedge I had this bug before the recent patch. Try ending the task and reinstalling the game or verifying the game cache. Make sure youre fully updated because its 100% fixed now for me

@fleet knot you say it happens as soon as you hit the game window so im going to assume its independant of singleplayer or multiplayer lag. If your cursor is kinda dragging across the screen and stuttering, this sounds like something i experienced in LoL and a few other things. I bet you the process is running at 100% cpu

@sinful sedge I went into add/remove programs in windows and uninstalled all visual studio or c++ redistributables, and reinstalles the x32 and x64 versions of the 2015 vc redistributable.

The MS Visual C++ redists are independent of each other. Meaning that if you have the latest redist, that's not going to cover all the lower versions. Each game that uses the redists uses specific resources from specific versions, and that goes for x86 vs x64 of the redist. So open appwiz.cpl from control panel, if you have MSVC++ 2015 x86 and x64 (ror2 uses 2015 according to the pinned), I'd uninstall them, reboot, and then reinstall the game which will have the MSVC++ installer it needs and should reinstall it.

Just keep in mind that I wouldn't just uninstall all the redists unless you know what program is using it. If you uninstall them all, different games / software you have installed might stop working because it relies on a component in those redists.

Game / Native resolution, and Windowed / Fullscreen (Alt+Enter usually switches between) are normal things to change if you're having issues. You can also turn off anything with an overlay, Steam, GPU monitoring SW, Voice comms like Discord, etc. as those can cause black screens. You can also try running Steam / game as admin.
I've seen weird stuff like moving the program to a different monitor working, turning off Hardware Acceleration, installing HD Audio drivers, on and on.

Ghor - I'm seeing tons of reports about the black screen or game not launching issue for people. We go through the MSVC++ 2015 x86 and x64 routine / reboot, along with monitor resolutions, but if that doesn't work, hard to diagnose if I'm not at their machine. Do you know of anything else that could be causing this to have people check besides the obvious GPU driver updates?

Ok something to look at. If you want you can add to the pin that they can use Run (WinKey+R) shell:LocalAppDataLow to get to their locallow directory as I find some ppl have issues navigating their profile folders.

I dunno if it's linked to my problem or not, but I keep having the same issue where all the menus have their Code name instead of their real names, wich makes them unable to work.
All the files seems okay, something to do with Visual C++ Packets, I guess?
My PC is a 64 bits. Doh I realised that some of my games tend to launch in 32 bits instead and I have no idea if that would cause some sort of issue while loading assets with the help of Visual C ++ 2015. (Like. "IF PC = 64 Bits > Load Visual C++ 64 Bits, But since the game might launch in 32 Bits, it just dosent read the files properly.)

Have you tried reinstalling the Visual redistributables as shown in pinned messages ?

Yup. I followed the instructions, yet nothing seems to load properly no matter what.

basically, the game is trying to load the sound engine dll but it's failing
and that happens when you don't have the VC2015 redistributable installed, which the sound engine uses

@mild ridge what if game wont launch, but i can see process is running but doing nothing using 0%cpu 2MB ram, tried restarting reinstalling, reinstalling VC 2015, I wanted to check log and crash dump but I dont have it, maybe the game got stuck even before creating it

I'm actually not sure what would cause that
maybe antivirus? or the game is waiting on some service/process that isn't responding to it

That sounds more like the 2nd option to me.
I have some issues like that with some other games, Mostely league.
But it happens if I try to close the game's launcher before it's fully open.
Nope.. Still the same thing.
and if I click single player, well. Everything "disapears" but is still clickable.
Forced to alt tab to close since TITLE_EXIT dosen't work

Have you uninstalled the redist 2015, rebooted, (installed from MS or game reinstall), then rebooted?

It's a wild shot, but have you tried installing the 32-bit (x86) version of VC 2015?
Also, fun fact, I don't have 2015 installed at all, and my game works just fine

I have all versions from 2005 to 2019 but not 2015
And it seems to work fine

Can anyone help? Me and my friend are trying to host a lobby but everytime one of us tries to host the lobby the other can't ready up and just sees the commando's skills, characters to choose from but is just stuck there

I've seen hosts when they try to host be the common denominator, takes like 5 times to see the lobby etc.
