Hp: ❤️
Strengths - Helps add risk and difficulty, making the game feel more exciting. There is now a cost to making mistakes which may influence players' caution and ability to make decisions.
Weaknesses - Adds a skill floor that may narrow the range of players. A health system too strict may not satisfy a demographic that is less experienced.
Changes: Custom difficulty settings (Like minecraft's easy, medium, hard, hardcore). Players can decide for themselves the experience they choose to go through. Laid-back players or people inherently new to gaming can choose the easy setting, casual players looking for some challenge can choose the normal difficulty, and dedicated hardcore gamers have their own difficulty.
Stamina: ⚡️
Strengths - Improves platforming potential, giving choice to movements and costs for being too careless about energy. Also adds realism
Weaknesses - Makes the game feel slower and increases complexity. Players have to wait to move again, which makes the game feel unnecessarily tedious if executed incorrectly.
Changes: Make stamina not restrict movements if done correctly. If precise inputs are done, quick and efficient movement can be done for cases such as speedrunning, like the movement system in Super Mario Odyssey
Map: 🗺
Strengths - Adds a sense of exploration, allowing players to chart new territory, and also shows progression in a world. Players could also fast travel to areas through the map to make for more efficient movement across large areas.
Weaknesses - Makes the world feel smaller and more limited. Being able to visualize your progress makes it feel compact and less open.
Changes: Maps fill out only when an area is fully finished and all objectives have been completed, or when the game' story is fully complete and the player is free to roam and finish completionist objectives.
