The second part looked like it was in progress, so I'm only judging the first part. To me, the biggest issue is that this part kinda looks more like some kind of ruins, of a castle or cathedral or something, which is an issue since it's supposed to be city themed. I think this is because of the brick patterns in the structures, and the diamond-shaped patterns in the background which feel like stained glass. Cities usually have a lot of right angles, so I would probably make the background patterns be squares, and I would also just replace the bricks with something else. My other issue with this part is the transition at the end, where the structures just stop and it awkwardly fades out. This doesn't look very good, so I would probably put something in the foreground that could come in from the right and cover up the structures and the player. That way there wouldn't be any strange emptiness in the transition. These solutions don't really overlap, but they could be combined, so for example the thing covering the screen in the transition could just be a building similar to the structures in the second part, which have lots of squares.
hope this is good enough!
