Using some triggers

So here the player has three lives, at first a box appears on top of the player, once the upper box dies, taking one life of the player, another box appears at the bottom and the bg turns yellow, if this box also dies, taking the second life of the player, a last box appears on top of the player, if this one dies too, so does the player

Here are the triggers

Also, an animation plays around the player at it's last life

And the bg also turns red symbolising the last life
