Planning a Level

Overview
The gimmick is a dual gamemode with one icon carrying the other. Both icons must work together to traverse the various structures and obstacles.

Details
Music Lchavasse - Melon Bread

The gameplay revolves around the unique interactions with the two icons, similar to Piggyback by Zylenox (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_6Bk8x3Tyk). While this is playable with two players, this is intended to be played solo. Coordination and sightreading are primarily tested in this level.

The decoration is primarily retro and minimalistic, with more detail added in as the level progresses, until the very end of the level when it is reverted back to minimal deco. The level is themed around a computer game set in a floating island.

Part Breakdown
(0:00-0:17) 1x speed
The gimmick is introduced with a mini robot carrying a mini cube. The robot has to jump for the cube to reach safe spaces, as the structures and obstacles prevent both icons from passing through together.

The decoration starts off with a layout, with more line details as the level progresses. Text resembling a command prompt indicates asset loading.

(0:18-0:34) 2x speed
The gimmick is expanded with dash orbs, which act as a temporary platform for the cube to jump as there are minimal structures to stand in this part. Some of the structures crumble when stood on, which causes the icon to fall off.

This part takes place in a derelict castle on top of the island

(0:35-0:51) 2x speed
The mini robot changes to a mini ship and the difficulty increases slightly. There are gates blocking off the main path, which must be opened by the cube.

This part takes place in the outskirts of the island.

(0:52-1:01) 1x speed
The difficulty drops down as the level is about to end.

At this point, the assets unload, revealing a layout with some line details of the previous part. The details disappear first, followed by the layout. An end screen is shown.

Goals
Create an enjoyable gameplay experience with the gimmick
Create a feature or epic worthy level

These two milestones must preferably be finished before or within the first week of September:
Finish the layout and have it playtested
Finish the decoration
