Ocean Journey

Level Info:
Length:
Song: Glittering Shores by Ocular Nebula
Song Offset: 14.6
Desired Difficulty: 6

In Ocean Journey, I want to create the most chill vibes possible in the editor. You go on a journey to the ocean, passing through many different biomes before finally reaching the shoreline and diving in.

0:00 - 0:16 (1x speed, cube): You begin your journey just outside your house and in your neighborhood. You will traverse the suburban town by running on the street, through and on top of different buildings, and running into the dense jungle. Throughout this, in the background you can see people getting angry at you and see a police officer watching you as you run by his parked car.

0:16 - 0:31 (2x speed, cube): As you run into the jungle, you start to get chased by a jaguar and have to swing on vines to get above the undergrowth. Before long, you fall back through the trees and a kind monkey offers you a banana which you throw at the jaguar to distract him. Whilst the jaguar is distracted, you make a speedy escape through the jungle. You find a busted rocket ship at the jungle’s edge and decide to use it despite the fact its motor is probably more useless than my coffeeless mom on Monday mornings.

0:31 - 0:46 (3x speed, ship): With the partially broken ship you found at the jungle’s edge, you fly faster than you’ve ever gone in your life high above the mountaintops and through the clouds. In this phase, the flocks of birds are your biggest enemy. You have to avoid them or else your ship will certainly spiral into inevitable doom. But if you can avoid the birds and the dangerous mountains, your ship will start to cough up black smoke and will sputter down to the ground, ending the sky adventure, but not before the edge of the mountain range.

0:46 - 1:00 (1x speed, cube): As the icy tundra melts into the sweltering desert, you begin to feel tired and start to slow down. You must jump over the tumbleweeds and cacti in order to progress. The sun starts glowing more and more with every passing second and just as you are about to faint, you suddenly reach the beach, and use all your energy for one final push, jumping over a family of crabs, and straight into the nice, cold water. But it’s not over yet.

1:00 - 1:16 (4x speed, robot): You land on the ocean floor and can suddenly jump higher because of the reduced gravity resistance. You find yourself jumping over huge chunks of coral and ducking under pirate ships in order to survive. But you have to surface for air or else you will drown, so an air meter in the top right corner should be helpful.

1:16 - 1:19 (0.5x speed, cube): You see a short outro animation of you returning home to your house from the side of the ocean you came from. You then see your cube think to itself, “Why didn't I just go this way?”. Then the camera falls down and you see the level’s logo and all the biomes you traveled through.

Goals:
To not lose motivation. In the past I worked on a single level for days or even months, and I ultimately end up deleting it.
To get used to big solo projects like this one.
To get at least a star rate.

the goals are not really SMART goals because they arent tangible (for example: how exactly will you "get used to big solo projects"?)

@ivory fern I usually end up abandoning projects so I want to get used to continuing one project instead of starting anew
