What is your favorite line of Kaminaris?

The hardest part of voicing Kaminari is it's really hard to not go really big and energetic with him. I'm a pretty energetic person (as you'll see if you catch my Twitch streams), so I tend to push him that way. Luckily, Colleen is there to reign me in 🙂

I love how MHA is basically just a cool superhero show that happens to be an anime, so it appeals to a very wide audience. I also love that (most) quirks have some sort of downside to them which seems to balance it out.

Honestly directing and acting are two sides of the same coin. I like the control and creativity of being a director. Plus, casting actors is a ton of fun. But it's super nice to "turn off" my director brain and hop in the booth.

I usually cast myself as something minor in everything I direct. I like to do the Hitchcock thing. For example, I'm Toru Kishiri in Fire Force!

My favorite Kaminari line is "You know, we basically just met you, so it's kinda telling we all know your personality is flaming crap mixed with garbage"

Despite working on many of the same shows and working in the same city, Monica Rial and Brittney Karbowski didn't meet until TEN YEARS after they both started in the industry.

How heavily would you say the pandemic has affected your work, what was impacted more? Directing or voice acting?

We definitely move at a slower pace, but directing has been somewhat similar. Acting is definitely different because not having the director and engineer in there with me means they're relying more on me for flaps, audio quality, etc. Being both a director and former engineer makes me more qualified then most to handle that extra responsibility, though.

A couple questions like this. I started as an audio engineer at Funimation in 2008. I immediately started getting behind the mic because it looked fun, but I never really did anything significant. 2020's been rough. I'd say try to find the silver linings and hold on to them tightly. Getting to spend a lot of extra time with my wife and daughters has been incredible. Plus, discovering Twitch has been a huge boon to my spirit and a ton of fun. I've gotten to interact with the MHA community in a more intimate and personal way than I ever have before!

I noticed you also voiced the Judge's younger brother in the Ace attorney anime. Are you a fan of the games, or were you cast without knowing about Ace Attorney? What's your favourite Ace Attorney moment (either from the anime, or the games)?

I cast myself! I directed the anime! lol
When we worked on the Judge's voice with Kent Williams, I unknowingly developed a similar hoarse, old man type voice. So when the judge's younger brother showed up I was just like "I guess I'll do it!"

I had to play the games in preparation for the directing the show, and honestly, I wasn't a huge fan. I could see how they were revolutionary back in 2001 or whatever, but I found those first three games a bit tedious when I played them a couple years ago

YES. Every so often I would check the OP wiki just to see if he's come back in the manga and I was over the moon when I saw he finally returned. We're pretty behind the japanese, though, so I don't know when we'll get to it.
