By some is the key word there though. If you’re heavy on either strength/dex you might want something like a heavy/sharp gem as that boosts scalings of strength or Dex to A respectively.

Pyromancy is really powerful. If you're going for a pyro build, then level up both Faith and Intelligence because pyromancy spells scale in damage with both of those stats combined.

If you’re really committed to straight swords + Shield and going for strength you might wanna also consider farming the dark wraiths in front of the watchers for their Dark Swords. I believe those were the best Strength/Heavy Gem swords in the base game

Well at least for the balance with their stats/range. Cause Dark Sword has a deceptively better range than most straight swords. In terms of pure damage you could probably stick with broadsword, just know that it has probably some of the lowest ranges for straight swords

The basics for my Dark Souls builds is always just thinking of

Strength = Big/hard hitting Weapons
Dex = Faster Swing/Complex Weapons + Bows
Int = Magic
Faith = Miracles
Int + Faith = Pyro
Luck = Bleed iirc

So I build according to what weapon I’ll prob feel like I’ll have end game haha. Course some weapons have extra requirements which in that case you’d also build towards that stat.

I also recommend keeping your Soul Level in check when going through campaign. Like if you feel like you can clear it without losing too much souls stay at your current soul level.

Cause the higher you climb means the higher the invaders tend to be in skill ceiling

Course the exception is the lowest soul level of 1-10 of course cause people troll and make smurfs to kill them.

I think I stayed at like SL 80-120 for base campaign end game iirc. But that was mainly cause I felt as if the stats around there were fine for PvP as I couldn’t do anything too crazy, so the other opponents couldn’t either.
