It seems a bit plausible to me, even if unlikely. MK was one of the big three fighting games back in the 90s, alongside SF and Fatal Fury/KoF.

But there would be a problem with him. Because Mortal Kombat is more grounded, where as Smash is platformy.

Not too much of a problem. There are characters like Simon who are very stiff originally but have become flexible by degrees, so I can see a MK character getting similar treatment.

Another thing to worry about is how they would make him look.

My guess is they would have his current costume as the default with the classic look as an alternative.
