Also idk if this will affect you guys, but escape rope is a key item now and catching Pokémon is Gym badge gated from the stream of the game. Like if you didn’t have the first badge (that lets you catch up to level 25 Pokémon) the game would not let you catch any of them that are higher leveled. Hope y’all don’t run into shinies higher than your party

Yeah but I’m actually worried about people who will eventually get that situation where a shiny is higher leveled than what they can catch.

Btw you can already overlevel in Sword and Shield.

The EXP share system gets your Pokémon over leveled that a newly caught Pokémon can probably one shot your rival’s team.

I personally didn’t see the benefit of catching a high leveled Pokémon though because as a kid I wasn’t a huge risk-taker and the fact that they loafed around which was boring to me. Sure high leveled Pokémon can 1 shot, but also knowing type advantages against certain pokes and their STAB moves also worked.

So the badge system in itself is like whatever (to me at least) except for the situation where a shiny might appear for you when you don’t have enough badges to catch it. That would be the biggest gut punch.

Tho I have to say that the overleveling thing right now is the start of Sword and Shield cause of the nature of the stream. Hopefully it gets more challenging near mid-end game

Otherwise this looks like it might be Let’s go difficulty.
