i recently got into collecting games and i started with the PlayStation 1 and at my local swapmeet i was able to cop a copy of resident evil directors cut and final fantasy 8 both for $5

Aiming = going into Terro-hunt and trying to find the right sensitivity that you can both easily make small adjusts with during gunfights and yet still not too slow to be able to flick 90 degrees and re-adjust when an enemy is coming on your flank, hiding behind a corner, etc. It’s a skill that comes with just basic practice and will definitely carry over if you have past experience in other FPS shooters. Leaning is very important as well, get used to the leaning mechanics because being able to expose less of your body when rounding corners or dodging bullets during gunfights and preventing the headshot will obviously increase your odds of surviving engagements.

General Strategy = being familiar with how to accurately play as a defender or attacker. Most cases, this general strategy will be centered around how you assault / reinforce the objective or the ops you pick / what role you prefer to play in the grand scheme of attacking or holding a site.

#

For Attack, your objective is simple: kill all of the enemies hiding in the building or contest and secure the objective room / person (secure area, bomb [which is the competitive mode and would recommend all levels have activated in your queue settings], and hostage]. Try your best to save your drone in the prep phase, as having a 2nd drone gives you more opportunities to scan and clear rooms in the building without having to risk your own death. Try to coordinate with teammates on clearing out defenders outside of the objective, leaving about a minute left to attack the room the site is in and kill the remaining defenders / take the objective. Pro Tip: Meeting people that aren’t toxic in-game and squading up will greatly benefit your ability to execute thought-out strategies and increase your chances of achieving a higher rank – solo queuing is rough, even for players like me with 1500 hours. As for Defense, you have an up-hill battle to fight. You have exactly 45 seconds to reinforce and deploy equipment on or in adjacent rooms of the objective that you hope will last a 3-minute assault by the opposing team. Playing the game more will allow you to identify what walls / hatches need to be reinforced (with the two metal walls you can deploy onto “soft” surfaces to protect them from simple breach charges), so if you are unsure what should be reinforced simply ask a teammate or assist those trying to reinforce a wall that has more than 2 separate sections since they will need your extra reinforcement.

If you are playing Bomb, DO NOT completely reinforce between the sites, instead using an “Impact Grenade” to create a rotation hole that will allow you and the other defenders to travel between A and B Bomb instantaneously. Other than that, destroy drones, relocate if you get spotted, and try your best to survive out the round, since time is on your side.

Op Selection = choosing the operators / heroes that will benefit the particular attack or defense in question. There are exactly 22 operators on attack and defense, each with different abilities and can aid the push or hold in different ways. Please make it your best effort to give each a try and save for the DLC operators, which, as expected, have some pretty insane abilities. However, if you want some suggestions feel free to continue reading on.

When attacking, its best to bring compositions or ops that can apply pressure onto reinforced walls (horizontally) or can break the ceiling / floor of the sites (vertically). These ops are known as “breachers”, and can be subdivided into “hard” (breaks reinforced walls and hatches, examples are Thermite, Hibana, Maverick) and “soft” (wooden floors, Unreinforced walls can be taken care of with ops such as Ash, Sledge, Buck, Fuze). There’s of course many Support operators that are needed to mainly aid the hard breachers, like Thatcher, IQ, and Twitch because their abilities help detect and remove equipment that prevent the destruction of reinforced walls / hatches. There’s also support ops that are great for allowing your team opportunities to enter / contest important rooms in the building or locate hidden operators, like Dokkabei, Lion, Montagne, Finka, Blackbeard, Ying, Glaz, and Jackal (they sometimes get a bad rep because a lot of these ops have pretty insane abilities that, when combo’ed with a push by a fragger, can be very tough to stop, but the real overpowered one, Lion, is banned in PL so his usage is discouraged anyways). And last, but not least, is the actual “fraggers”, who usually have a combination of great weapons, not really essential utility, and 3 speed that allow them to dispatch enemies with ease. Ash, Zofia, Blitz are great examples of fraggers (Sledge and Buck are also fraggers, although they have more useful abilities that you don’t want to lose immediately and are not “Entry” or 1st choice fraggers).

Sadly, this is only half of the battle. On Defense, there are “anchors”, “lurkers”, and “roamers”. Roamers are essentially defensive fraggers that have utility that helps them stay hidden (Vigil, Caveira, Alibi), can detect attackers entering the building (Pulse and Valkyrie) or can be placed on site and are autonomous (Jager’s ADS, Ela’s Grzmot Mines, Kapkan’s Entry Denial Devices, and Castle’s Armor Panels). They usually have 3 speed, good weapons, and equipment that, as I said before, remain in place even if they die. Basically, take these ops and either try and hold important hallways and room above / below the site or hide and wait until you see the opportunity to come on the flank across the building and kill attackers from behind. Lurkers, like Roamers, serve a similar purpose in that they aren’t best suited for being firmly on the objective holding it from conquest, but they have abilities that require them to be alive in order to be properly utilized (Lesion’s Gui Mines, Doc’s Stim Pistol, and Bandit’s Car Batteries / Mute’s Jammers, which do act without them being alive, but, since they can be picked up and moved to different locations on the objective in situations when you know the attackers are going to shift their focus, need to essentially be alive.

Although they are not on site, they have free will to return or leave at any point depending on the threat to their life or the speed of the attack by the opposing team. Finally, “Anchors”. Some anchors are simply such because they have 1 speed and cannot run around the map without making a lot of noise (Rook, Tachanka), although others have abilities that can actually prevent the attack from quickly storming the objective (Clash’s Electrified-Riot Shield, Frost’s Bear Traps, and Smoke’s Gas Canisters). Most anchors, coincidentally, have both qualities and, thus, need to be on-site at all times. Mira, Maestro, and Echo are the clear choice for someone wanting to stay on-site because they have abilities that allow them to do damage / disorient the enemy from cover.

TL:DR – Play the game, make friends (or add me, I’ll play anytime), and get a feel for what your playstyle is. Then, select operators that, once you’ve played a few rounds with to see how they “operate”, will compliment your approach on attack and defense. Happy Sieging!
