Heeey @burnt edge I made a bread cat design around a year ago with another designer
We personally made the animal head a hat and the bread a mask
Like that you can wear just the bread and if you feel like it you can add the animal head as a hat

And as hat is above mask layer it works out good plus the ear area of the actual human body is covered so it doesn't look weird cuz the cat has 4 ears

Also, I think that the left side of hair is kind of voluminous, it looks strange for me, that curve it has, The crown it has would smash the hair down .I think it would look better like on the other side. So that. Another thing, it’s not very important, but you could maybe make the eyelashes and eyebrows black so they can go better with the dark skin tones.

Hair: The hairshape ideas are pretty nice, but need some improvements. For example, the boys hair stops a bit above the eat, but your hair doesn't just stop there😅 The girl has braids like on the side of the head but 1. Their colour just changed and 2. They are like entirely flat? Not sure how two explain but they'd start at the hairs roots. Furthermore, both their hairlines are a bit too high. Now for the shading it's a good start but I see a lot of spots where you just placed lines. I suggest shading with shapes instead.
Eyes: The eyes are a bit big but their shape looks good. The shading of the lense could be a bit improved though, if you need any tips you can ask! But you can also always reference shading, etc from #dev-vote and already in-game items.
Masks: The masks are pretty cute but the beaks shading is on the wrong side for the boy. I also think they could use another shape, imo this shape doesn't really suit the design.
Shirts: Absolutely adorable! The shading could use some more shape though, instead of the scribbly ends (hope that's understandable).
Owls: The owls look pretty cute too. I think the shading looks a bit off.

Something that could overall be improved is your lines. They're wonky in a lot of places and should be smoothed out. Some things are also pretty uneven (for example the neck thing from the shirt).

Overall I think however, the design is absolutely adorable and I'd loooove to see an improved version! Maybe you could even give them some super cute owl ears or a beanie with owl ears, bet that would be amazing
