human scientists invented super animals! The lab labs were created to replace human scientists on the island

and since the humans had to leave so abruptly, and/or didn't give the first lab labs much information, the lab labs have been trying to figure out things that the humans likely knew before (like dogna trying to learn what a skullcat is)

Call me wrong but doesn’t Dogna ||say that there were other Super Animals before the Skullcat?||

I thought the implication was that Skullcats were the first Super Animal to not resemble a real animal, and thus lead to wacky variations in Super Animals like the Cotton Candy variants

no, (unless Dogna has new dialogue in SAW that overrides this,) the first skullcat was the first functional super animal. The previous prototypes didn't make it, and the first skullcat was even considered to be somewhat of a failure, but SAW corp let them live, gave them a job, and brought skullcats back because hey, weird animal = good marketing.

The only things dogna say about the things before the first skull cat is, they where mess up, to many members, and if i understood it well, they didn’t last long, tough, good luck getting those info, you need to win a super animal royal and do some small quest (find her in her piramide lab, and then find skull cats)
