Currently the game puts you in SA servers on first boot if you're from SA. However, the servers are located in Brazil, which not all countries from SA have good ping with. For example I am from Venezuela and I have better ping in NA than Brazil (Also I don't speak portuguese lol)
IIRC the servers that have good ping with Brazil besides obviously brazil itself, are Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. Maybe you could rename them to "SA-South" and default the northern SA players to NA because people who aren't tech savvy are not gonna know why they have bad ping. Riot games do something like this but I don't think the playerbase is big enough for having both a northern and southern SA region (Though if it were to be, I was informed US servers are in Dallas. If one day the player base is big enough I think Miami would be a good one.)
EDIT: There could also be a way to preview the ping from the list
