Using luacode chars

This is stupid specific but i'm trying to use Unicode chars (in particular hieroglyphs) through the luacode package but i cannot make it work. this is what i did

,preamble --add \usepackage{luacode}
,tex symbol{77938}
and yet it prints back an error, saying that symbols only go from 0 to 255. what can i do?

You cannot load packages that utilise engines other than pdfTeX

This is specifically true for TeXit and Paradox
