Ever since installing a new WiFi router (model no. Zyxel LTE5398-M904) i have been unable to initiate any online matchmaking despite regular internet browsing working just fine. This problem only affects the matchmaking stage of online and affects both Wii U and vWii, every other internet enabled feature works fine.

I have tried all solutions such as port forwarding, changing firewall parameters and putting my Wii U's IP address into the DMZ (after having manually set up the internet settings to a fixed IP address). It seems like the DMZ is ineffective on my router as the outcome is the same with or without DMZ enabled on the IP address of my console. Right now my workaround has been using a mobile phone hotspot, but it would be really helpful if i could fix the problem instead of having to enable my hotspot or open the Internet settings any time i want to access the internet. Has anyone got any suggestions?

It’s a peer to peer error

All I can really say is it’s an issue with your internet but you said you’ve tried a lot of stuff

Is this on Splatoon

i've seen this happen on Splatoon, Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart Wii (error 86420)

Yeah it’s a problem on your end most likely

#

I’m not a networking expert though

that's the thing; dmz and all of the other solutions don't seem to work for me when theoretically they should fix the problem

#

since from what i understand it's the router mistaking the wii u's p2p matchmaking as malicious/suspect traffic and blocking it

Well yeah that’s an issue on your end

or simply put; blocking the p2p matchmaking by mistake

#

so i'd probably just have to call the company that made the router and ask them about it?
