Heya. So I wanted to try to get the BOSS task data for my Wii U, but during my previous attempts to do so, I couldn't find the storage_mlc folder on the FTP server. I wanted to see if I could figure out what I've been doing wrong and hopefully actually fix it.

Need help with this too

Yep, I was asking the same thing one week ago but I figured it out. You need an FTP client on your operating system. FileZilla is available for free on Linux and it seems, it is available for Windows too. I recommend using it.

The FTP server needs to be turned on on the Wii. (The server is the device that sends files to requesting devices.) Therefore, you can download the FTPiiU aroma plugin to your SD card at /wiiu/environments/aroma/plugins/ftpiiu.wps (I recommend using Aroma, it's easy).

If that's done, put the SD card back into the Wii U, turn on and after booting, enter the Aroma setting by pressing L + DPAD-down + Select (all at the same time). In the menu, there should be the FTPiiU entry which contains a "settings" entry which contains the setting to turn on FTPiiU (set it to "true"). Also enable access to system files. You also need to lookup the IP(v4) address of your WiiU (you find it in some other entry next to "settings", it consists of 4 numbers between 0 to 255 separated by dots). Keep it open so that you don't need to memorize the number.

On your PC in FileZilla, go to tab "File" > "Site Manager…". You need to create a new connection (needs to be done one single time), In my FileZilla, there is a folder icon "My Sites". Click on it and then further below on "New Site". Use this configuration:

  • Protocol: FTP – File Transfer Protocol
  • Host: [enter IP address here from your WiiU], Port: [leave empty, it automatically selects the standard FTP port 21]
  • Encryption: Only Use Plain FTP (insecure) [it really is, anyone with your WiiU IP, potentially tracking your Wlan traffic nearby, can access and see your NAND files while transfered via Wlan!]
  • Logon Type: Anonymous

Now, leave the Aroma menu on the Wii U. This will turn on the FTP server.

Then in FileZilla, click on "Connect" and "ok".

Maybe it first shows nothing but try clicking on the folder on the right side. It should show up now.

And don't forget to instantly turn off your FTP server in the same way when you are done downloading the files. It even interferes with some games (they could hang in a loop on startup) and for security reasons of course.

Still having the same issue od just not being able to find the folders. Error code 550 No Such Device

Your PC must be connected to the same router as the Wii U is (checking both the Wii U Internet settings and the PC settings). That means, you Wii U must be connected to the Internet. If you followed the steps with FileZilla, I would not know any other problem without further info.

It connects to the Wii U

how about using 'ftpiiu evelywhere' not 'ftpiiu'?

the folder just isn't there

coral tundra

Hey, nice, looks good. It should be at the location /storage_mlc/usr/… something I think.

sweet ridge
#

Yeah that's the issue

#

storage_mlc isn't present

#

I'd already managed to connect it before even opening the thread, I'm just terrible at trying to word the issue

Now, I get it. Did you check "system files" in your FTPiiU settings? If they are set to "false", they should not show up.

sweet ridge
#

Its set to true

coral tundra

What top-level folders can you access? Is it only "fs"? And what kind of FTP server are you using? The Aroma plugin?

sweet ridge
#

Yeah, the Aroma plugin, and you'd be right on it only being "fs"

#

Woah, nevermind

#

Turns out it just wasn't picking up on the changed settings after reconnecting the other times

coral tundra
#

For my understanding, this means, you set the System File access to true but did not close the Aroma menu? (In that case, I think, the settings are not updated yet.)

Alrighty then

#

Had to take a minute because I accidentally moved something and panicked before fixing it

#

Thanks for the help!
