Pretendo Works, but no Splatfest

Pretendo works perfectly, and I can connect to lobbies, but the plaza looks totally normal and I never got a news update about any splatfest.
As it is now, for me, it's like everyone else is in the splatfest dimension with their splatfest tees while I'm stuck in the regular Splatoon world.

System Settings -> data management -> Splatoon -> delete shared data

contains map and splatfest information, that forces it to download it again
