#Audio coming from behind the player sounds extremely quiet.

I feel like it's a surround sound issue. For example, the security door will be opening and it will be spouting its usual dialouge, but when I face away from it, the sound of it becomes very quiet. Like, I'm supposed to be hearing it on a rear speaker on a 5.1 surround system, but I'm using earbuds.

Which also reminds me... Wasn't there an audio setting in the game where you could choose between stereo and surround sound in previous versions? or am I just experiencing a mandela effect? Cause i swear i remember seeing a stereo option before but I cant quite remember...

But yeah, you can imagine how this issue also affects enemies who may be running up behind you, enemies that are snoozing/pulsating, etc. It's kinda annoying, but it's not completely muted, just very very quiet. This didn't used to be an issue before either R8 or R7.

Any possible solutions? or shall I just cope?

hello, this is a (as far as i am aware) longstanding issue with sound culling, where if you are not facing a sound it can simply not play for you

iirc this isnt really something you can fix (unless there's a mod im unaware of), meaning you have to compensate by looking around very very often. if someone more informed than me has more input on this please share because i dont consider myself to know much on this

This is an issue I'm not previously aware of then because footstep audio is addressed via EAF preventing host culling as I also found silent Giants and Tanks quite annoying

when the BioTracker isn't a Bot, you can't expect them to tag everything all of the time and enemies randomly being silent because of culling is just kinda wack

yeah. its definitely not the worst bug. its more immersion breaking than anything. but i think for me personally the most annoying thing about it is that the wave roars will sometimes go unnoticed (especially when there are multiple entry ways) unless im doing a full 360 rotation
