I have completed 9/10 missions for R2 and all missions in R1. I can host R2E1 but my game keeps crashing me to desktop before I can even get off of the elevator. I'm up to date on my windows 11 software, and am running an NVIDIA RTX 3050 that has let me start playing the game in the first place. What am I missing?

Just the "(app name).exe is not responding" notification with "close app" or "wait until app responds" options

12 gigabyte of ram?

#

8+4 or laptop with sodimm?

#

intel 8th gen is oldish but I think it's more than enough

#

also I dont know why your SSD was spikying to 100% but perhaps that has nothing to do with it

#

also ssds in raid? I assume it's just mirroring (raid 1 but I'm going by memory)

#

I'll be 100% sincere: I know for a fact that GTFO can run with 16gb of ram no issues but I'm pretty sure you'd struggle to get it to run properly with 8

#

no idea if 12 is perhaps on the edge

#

On the other hand I dont think R2E1 is that big of a requirement compared to R2D2 which is perhaps more of a hog

#

But that's just speculation on my part

#

I'd say something software-level is more probable to fuck the game up in your case

#

I hosted R2D2 just fine. Just kept crashing for E1

It'd be interesting to see you get to R7 and see if R7D1 crashes you the same way

#

because that's perhaps the most infamous level regarding "my fps are dying"

I'm going to give R2E1 a shot with only bots to see if things cleared up with my computer.

#

ah it's dimm just reading now, I apologize, so it's 8+4

trim scroll
#

Is that related to RAM?

#

people usually put sticks that are from a kit to avoid incompatibility (not saying it's your issue, it could very well be something else)

#

sticks from a kit are same brand/size

#

you screen ports 2/4 slots used, DIMM, 2600 and 12 gigs

#

12 gigs isn't possible unless it's mix-matched stuff with 8+4

#

The NVIDIA card is the only thing not stock in my computer

next beacon
#

I think DDR5 doesn't have 4 gigs

#

which checks out because 8700 is 8th gen so only ddr4

hp desktop that i got from Sam's Club like 6 years ago

#

included a n hp monitor and bluetooth mouse and keyboard

#

minimum gtfo reqs are still 8gigs so I guess 12 would be fine? Only R2E1 crashing is weird

#

I'll also say that I've yet to see someone run GTFO fine with 8 gigs of system ram to be honest

trim scroll
#

should I look into getting more ram sticks then?

next beacon
#

I dont know

#

Maybe try more levels see if the most fucked up ones crash the game anyway

#

R7 is where my fps die usually

#

of course I also assume you already did all the usual of updating drivers, etc etc

It just means it WILL run

#

your specs are pretty low nonetheless

#

but dunno if there’s much we can really do. “buy new hardware” isn’t really good advice

elder bronze
#

Low spec mod is a good option

#

I guess

#

ram is usually the cheapest thing to upgrade at the very least. my laptop has similar specs to your pc and i don’t have any crashing issues

#

1050ti (mobile), 8750h, 16gb ddr4

#

Mine is a GTX 1650, Ryzen 5 4000 and 16GB DDR4 and GTFO runs fairly decent

fringe harbor
#

gtfo loads a shitload of assets into memory, especially on modded

elder bronze
#

Yeah it keeps everything loaded into the memory simultaneously

#

That's why this game just EATS ram

well ive played the game with a 3050 so its not your gpu

final night

#

6GB is very meh

#

and this game is a vram hog
