hello, yes, I too have encountered this issue just today.
at first I thought it was a permission from ISP kinda thing, but I changed ISPs last Wednesday or something and game worked fine from then til earlier today
there are also threads here and on reddit about deleting a specific folder, and/or reinstalling the game or restarting your PC
try those first but I should tell you it hasn't worked for me
maybe you have better luck i dunno
i'm also assuming you checked that other apps or programs that need a connection work fine?

i lost the link and can't really find iit right now but
there's a reddit thread i found searching smth like
"gtfo network error" or something to that effect

It's the same error you'd get if you tried launching the game when steam is down, but I'm not at my PC right now so can't check

steam servers being fucky doesn't mean everyone would have problems, other people may be fine because they're lucky, not because it's just on your end
