#Inconsistent crash on startup
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i have verified game files, none missing. this is on linux (arch based) with proton hotfix. note that this also fucks steam up in the process, steam thinks the game is still "open" and running, despite the window being closed. clicking "stop" on steam crashes steam after a bit, and no new windows can be created from steam (like viewing game properties)
Does anybody else on Linux have the issue of, when you launch the game, it displays a frozen screen (with a fixed framerate) but if you alt-tab or open the "applications" view can see the game loading properly? It occurs on every other successful launch and requires alt-f4'ing to resolve itโit blocks the entire screen, which is why you have to force quit the game.
Specs: [redacted] Linux, GNOME (Wayland), Proton Experimental, nvidia driver (proprietary), Vulkan
Launch parameters: PROTON_USE_VULKAN=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia gamemoderun %command% --nosplash
In true [redacted] fashion, I solved it myself. However, in case anyone else has the issue, I'm posting this anyways. You just need to disable the Steam Overlay for the game (see below).

Some time ago someone had something like this happen, might be useful?
