#Microstuttering issue

I just started playing this game again and I have a horrible microstuttering issue that only affects this game, would anyone know how to fix it? I have a 13700K and a 3080 running on a WD NVMe SSD. I remember playing on a 1080 with no issues. I have the microcode firmware update and all graphics drivers have been updated, as well as all Windows and game updates. I verified game files and after that didn't work, I outright reinstalled the game. Any help would be very appreciated.

Also, I should mention that I have tried countless configurations of settings in-game, including CPU culling and max prerendered frames, and nothing seemed to affect my stuttering, whatsoever.

Hey! How much RAM do you have? I also encountered some microstuttering when i ran games with redundant stuff like ingame vsync plus adnvanced sync in adrenaline. Most microstuttering i had in games came from my RAM being to slow though. Itsd no use if your GPU can push the frames but teh RAM of your system cant shove all the data fast enough. This is all anecdotel though i dont claim to be an expert just rying to help maybe 🙂

my pet peeve for microstutters is always motherboard chipset drivers. without them i had horrible stuttering, went away completely after installing them.. worth a shot

#

also if u are running nvidia geforce experience, try disabling shadowplay stuff, or even uninstall it comlpetely, go with just the nvidia driver standalone. that boosted and stablized my fps a lot too.. worth a second shot.

We can have a look at your dx diag if nothing helps, how to get them is in #bug-reporting
Outside of that though, hirnukuono's advice is usually the best thing to go with

mortal nebula

But do what hirnukuono suggested first, usually that fixes things

also check bios for resize-bar on (if intel does that)

funny how only gtfo has stutter, not other games?

jolly violet
deep comet

ok.. do try dedicated full screen too, if fswindow, some windows app is doing something on the available display space...

jolly violet
#

Yeah! Only GTFO now. Back before the microcode updates, I was getting crashes on almost every game, with intermittent stuttering. After the update, no issues at all.

#

I’ve tried both windowed fullscreen and exclusive fullscreen, neither one made a difference.

deep comet
#

hope u get it sorted, do u have any nvidia control panel profile settings thing for gtfo only? i recommend remove, let the app do all settings

#

force fxaa on or something

jolly violet
#

I will try that, as well as the shadowplay thing you suggested.

#

I’m just not home until tonight.

deep comet
#

360 could be right with the memory tho... as the final last resort, get processlasso and make gtfo have any cpu core except 0

#

yeh, food for thought

mortal nebula
#

Yeah I'll check in later, see if everything's aight

#

If it isn't we'll figure something out

jolly violet
#

Thanks guys, really appreciate the effort. I’ll let you guys know what happens when I get home.

#

You guys think XMP would make a difference? It’s probably enabled, but I’m just running through things in my head that might work.

deep comet
#

should affect all games if it causes issue

#

but u can try flip it ye

#

i keep my ram at the rated mhz and volts, trying to tune them is usually blue screen city

#

my 2018 vintage 3200mhz sticks serve me quite well <palpatine smile>

jolly violet
#

Yeah I just don’t understand because I was playing this game on a 7700K and 1080 and had no issues at all. Now, on a much better rig, I get stutters and audio cuts every 5-10 seconds

On a whim, I decided to install the game on my SATA SSD instead of my NVMe and now the game runs perfectly. Computers suck.

#

Thanks for the help, seriously.

Great that it was solved!

sata ssd ~500mb ~10k iops.. nvme ~2gb ~50k iops.. and sata ssd wins? 😄

#

reeeeeally weird.

happy for ya, dont fix it further 🙂

#

tronicsfix t-shirt.. "if its not broken, i'll fix it until it is"

jolly violet
#

oh trust me, I won't be doing anymore "fixing"

I dont know, it's bizarre.

that, or trim disabled and nvme over-written countless times, or some pci bus thing where it gets congested somehow.. not an expert on such, i remember seeing some warning "if u install into pciex x, dont do y" thing on my mb manual.. but so glad for the win

jolly violet
#

Sorry for latee reply, but I was checking temps of my NVMe and everything was normal, both of my NVMes are brand new so it shouldn't be anything related to being overly written, not sure what trim is but maybe I should look into that.

#

It is in the secondary NVMe slot, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference at all. Figured it would still be miles better than a SATA SSD so I'm not sure what happened there.

deep comet
#

sec nvme usually ties in to one of the pcie buses

#

not sure, been 5 years since i was installing my single nvme
