using arch linux with wayland. like the title says, i can't get past this screen. The "scanning" sound effect plays out but then the game would freeze.
I have tried:
rebooting
validating steam files
turning off steam overlay
(edit: tried to do fix1 but that didn't solve the issue)

edit: using x11 is a possible workaround for me

Or do you mean some game mechanic that I can't remember

tidal wraith
#

the screen that shows up when you first start it

trim prism
#

So it's the bootup screen k

#

@tidal wraith Can you follow the instructions of #bug-reporting and grab the log files?

#

@stoic bone I gotta head off to bed, if you have time can you follow up on this?

tidal wraith
#

trying to run the game at x11 atm

trim prism
#

well if it doesn't work just leave the log files here

tidal wraith
#

oh shit ok, for me it doesn't work when using wayland

trim prism
#

I'll follow it up when I wake up... if i can

strange

#

what's wayland?

tidal wraith
#

so linux has 2 ways on how to handle windows for programs which is using xorg or wayland

#

wayland is considered the "newer and better" way to use it with programs, but it does have it's fair share of bugs (and was hard to deal with when using an nvidia card)

#

but the game actually works now, but i would still want a fix so that i can play with wayland (it seems more like an issue on my end, since there doesn't seem to be anyone on protondb complaining about it)

#

I'll start the game again on wayland and then send the logfile here though

Sorry but with Linux involved I've no idea what is wrong. The first log, to a first glance, doesn't show any issue. If you don't get any issues with xorg then perhaps just use that instead? I'll be sincere I dont know much, if anything, about Linux.

@viral gazelle Would you know anything? These look like hardware problems
@tidal wraith If you have the time later can you find the player.log (it might be called player in the folders) files? That should be where you found the other logs files.

a) xorg x11 .. b) use an older proton than latest / beta c) open steam udp firewall ports in if firewalled. game needs network comms ~immediately after changing display mode

#

also, please send player.log, thats the best logfile for debugging

#

... not firewall / network related according to above logs (yet) .. i would test older proton version first and foremost
