#Achievement "Complete C-tier expedition without using tools" not counted despite best efforts

Just leaving this here for investigation into potential causes.
I heard placing a random mine discredited this achievement, but this was supposed to be fixed in the latest patch?
Does this even work with bots? It should, right?...

Setup:
Me: Biotracker. Not once pinged anything, wasn't even touching the LMB, but occasionally used it to just see via tracker screen.
Bots: All sentries, not once ordered to place one down.

Next consumable items were used:

  • Random mine(s) - mostly by me;
  • C-foam Grenades - by both me and bots on command;
  • Glowsticks - me;
  • Long Range Flashlight - me;
  • Lockmelters - by everyone involved.

Please check and advise.

Kinda cringe, but i'll see what i can do and will report my findings.

For biotracker it should only invalidate if you actually held down the fire button and start tagging enemies. Just looking at the screen shouldn't invalidate it.

For sentries it invalidates when it starts scanning.

Trip mine/Glue mine should count as consumeables and should not invalidate it.

The rest should just be consumeables as well and also should not invalidate it.

I don't see any reason why the ach shouldn't have been completed

thats the problem - there is a description, but sometimes what exactly is the criteria is a mistery.
also looking how few ppl got it completed means there are actually no guides and/or explanations

yeah some of them like this one don't have very many or any logs as it can get extremely spammy.

Either way i'm gonna attempt this again without bio and see if it works. If it doesn't - surely consumables will be to blame. The question after that is only which ones...

if you can keep track of what type of consumeables you use (e.g. trip mine, glue mine, glue grenade, green glowstick, yellow glowstick, etc) and maybe not use all of them, that would be helpful to narrow down the list of things i need to check when debugging.

I'll attempt to narrow it down to just mines and cfoam grenades, since they come in very useful for this achievement for obvious reasons.
And obviously i can't stop bots from using lockmelters. So that'll be 3 main suspects for now.

@maiden copper Gottem. I used exactly one c-foam grenade, threw it just before extraction for science.
No bio, and no mines were found this time.

So potential suspects are:

  • BioTracker (somehow)
  • Yellow Glowstick
  • Random Mine

I want to point out that the icon for the achievement - ironically - is a crossed BioTracker.
