#GTFO Crashing Issues

I don't really know why, but ever since I updated my PC a few hours ago, GTFO keeps crashing. Sometimes it crashes on boot, sometimes on lobby join, and sometimes on cage drop. Regardless, I haven't been able to get into a game since. Crashing usually closes Steam, too. Not sure how I'd begin fixing this. I've already tried uninstalling, verifying files, and restarting my PC.

Go into %AppData% locallow / 10 chambers / gtfo / and delete GeneratedIcons folder, then relaunch the game

#

See if it helps

Any specific specs?

nocturne turret
#

What do you mean?

umbral tapir
#

CPU/GPU, amount of ram

#

Brand name usually doesn’t tell us anything

#

Where you have the game installed

nocturne turret
#

Ohh lemme see

#

Intel Core i7-10750H CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Graphics Card, 16 gigs ram

#

Assuming you have the latest drivers

#

Have you got the game installed on an SSD?

nocturne turret
#

I think so?

umbral tapir
#

What kind of storage drive(s) do you have?

#

Or you can double check installation via steam

nocturne turret
#

Okay first I did install on my D: drive but I don't think that narrows it down

#

Just checked

#

Yeah SSD

#

1TB NVMe SSD

#

I’m assuming your laptop is already running a performance power plan?

#

Too

#

If you ever are able to get into the game settings, under advanced graphics, set CPU culling -> small

nocturne turret
#

I'll do that

umbral tapir
#

And if possible try to get everything on medium

#

In graphics

#

And restart game

nocturne turret
#

It's plugged in at home so I didn't think I'd need to worry about graphics stuff like that but one sec

#

This may take a bit

Didn't need to restart

#

Ohhh

#

One sec

umbral tapir
#

For shadow resolution or quality I believe you are required to restart your game

#

It was one of the 2

#

And then yea, see if the game is stable in a couple of expedition runs

Running tutorial

#

I didn't mess with the one that requires restart

umbral tapir
#

If you crash you might have to

#

Also texture resolution should be half/quarter and not full

#

Definitely will be better

nocturne turret
#

Alrighty, I'll keep those in mind

#

GOt through tutorial no problem

#

Don't know why my computer suddenly can't handle GTFO graphics but oh well

umbral tapir
#

GTFO is a very unoptimized game

#

It’s terrible in terms of that

#

That’s also a reason why you probably will never see anybody compare this game in a benchmark

#

(Besides it being less popular than triple A title games too)

It's been going along perfectly fine before today which is what catches me
