#Controller lag/jumpiness

When I use an Xbox Controller to play GTFO, there is either lag or jumpiness at the end of "look" movements. This issue persists no matter the look sensitivity settings and also wired/wireless controller setups (with brand new controllers / confirmed no drift issues). When I switch to mouse/keyboard with exactly the same graphics settings and all, there is NO issue.

I know most people playing this game do not use a gamepad/controller but can anyone else help confirm this issue or advise how to fix it? I have zero issues with any other (popular) games on PC when using the same controller.

Can anyone else confirm this issue happens to them with gamepad, as well?

Here is one with gamepad viewer

Thanks! I guess it is hard to tell in from the video, the viewing movement looked a little choppy but maybe that was how the input was as well. It did not have the same ending “bounce” to every look movement like mine did..

I installed the game on a different computer to see if it was any better on a different hardware set (this time a 4090 /7900X cpu), different Xbox controller now too, and had the exact same issue, every movement had a subtle ending “bounce” to it. All default settings and no change when I try to adjust the gamepad or graphics settings either. I’ve never had this issue on any other game.

It is almost like the game is trying to add an acceleration to the gamepad look movement but it is extremely disjointed and late, compared to a slower and smooth acceleration. But there are no adjustabe settings for look acceleration

I can see the same problem as you are talking about, I don't play with controller but I have an Xbox One controller so I just went ahead and checked it out and yeah it's there. Got a pretty good example that shows exactly what you are talking about, it seems like it's trying to smooth out the camera stopping but it causes it to stutter instead. I tried with steam input disabled and enabled and it did not make a difference.

@remote temple please advise

From what I know we haven’t touched the gamepad support in a while and I don’t know if we are returning to it anytime soon. Any global (Windows) setting that could help remedy this?

It seems better to just use the steam-input than using the in-game controller support

Could be input lag or virtual controller drift

Ya, that is what I first thought but I've used a few different controllers that I've tested to have less than 5% drift in any direction so that was not the issue.
