Game is crashing during the drop. | GTFO | Page 1

Sorry if I chose the wrong tag here I couldn't find one obviously for tech support, or I'm completely blind Hey, I've been able to play this game for one mission so far, it started completely fine. Whenever I try to play now, the game suddenly crashes during the drop. Sometimes it just goes right to desktop and closes the game, other times I get a lil error box with the GTFO logo. Sometimes the game screen will just go completely blank, but I'll still have access to the menu screen when I press esc, and will still hear the characters breathing. Trying to quit the game via the menu in this state will cause a crash though.

I have a pretty solid computer, 16gb of ram, GTX 3070, plenty of disc space. My computer is not overclocked as far as I can tell on Afterburner at least. I've also uninstalled the game and deleted any 10 Chambers Files that were left-over.

This game is really, really fun and I want to be able to play it, lol. I havent found any fixes online yet, as far as I can see at least.

try deleting %appdata% locallow / 10 chamb... / gtfo / generatedicons, see if drop works then

some have had a problem where game crashed when generatedicons exists when launching

Okay it's crashing again, deleting the generatedicons isn't helping now. It's just weird because sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, can't see any pattern to it.

what levels are you crashing on, what CPU

based off what you said so far, I doubt what I'm checking for is the issue, but I want to make sure

Sorry was at work, but I'm crashing on the first level, and the second level they're the only two that I've tried so far, I'm playing with bot team for now until I get more familiar with the game

This is my processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600KF 3.70 GHz

I have a GTX 3070 and 16gb of ram as well

Im not overclocked I dont think so at least. Afterburner isnt showing me as overclocked and i've never went into my computer to overclock it

I've reinstalled the game and deleted every file that might be left over, verified files, run in windowed mode, turned off V-sync, ran steam as admin, I also deleted generated icons file

I really love this game, from what I have been able to experience of it and just want to be able to play for real. I cant join a team if I'm goiing to crash 50% of the time I try to start the game though

I've downloaded the latest drivers on geforce experience thing. I'm not super tech savvy, is there another thing that I could be missing?

It doesnt look like there's anything super personal on there I dont see any ip address or anything, I dont mind people knowing my steam. I personally can't really make anything of it though lol. Would posting it help at all?

Hmmm I dont think that this one is a crash file, it's weird because I crashed today like, 2hrs ago but the file was modifed earlier today so idk. Lemme see something first I'm sorry.

have you tried nuking the entire GTFO appdata folder

you will have to reequip your loadout but all progress is tied to your steam account

It's not really resolved yet, I posted something new thinking that I should maybe delete this thread or something lol. I'm just so confused, somebody said it might be something up with my computer, which is possible cuz this is weird as hell. I just dont have this issue with any other games lol

I've played for more than two hours, so I cant do a steam thing. I've never had to do this with a game before so idk what to do

I cant fix the "Desktop composition is disabled" because Windows 11 doesnt let me go in to access it. Again I have never had an issue like this with any of the hundreds of games that I've played.

You're using Windows 11? Did you try setting the compatibility to Win10 for the game?
