I'm aware of the 7 meter tall giant.
Which somehow equates to... god knows what.
If the means of change can do that^
God knows what else its doing to whom.
i would assume there are set mutations maybe based on blood type or even time they have been infected
All I'm saying and have been saying is...
We do not /know/ which one is female and male.
female bodybuilders are horrifying, jesus
lol
i mean the ones which push too far
I don't enjoy it either, but I wouldn't call them horrifying.
you know, when they become more muscle than body
i mean that goes for everyone
same with men
santa likes them sleeping
real quick question though, are we going to talk about the shadow bois?
they are 100% woman
we did multiple times ' v'
I think we have to do spoilers on that.
oh
Because they're from C2 and D1.
understandable have a great da y
Sorry D1.
we dont anymore, pinned messages got update
i kinda wish we could do the thing in uh, channel title
oh wait the c2 enemys nevermind santa
to be fair, discord UI really makes it hard to remember the pins exist
Yeah, I don't see if pinned messages are updated everytime I stop into a room.
its sandwiched between two other useless buttons i never use
Holy crap you can get rid of the member list?
santaroo is going to hop over in his roos pouch and give discord a UI manual
discording 101
That's how I just learned you could do that.
I have discorded many of years
Yeah, literally all I'm saying is... The could be male or female.
But, we don't know.
Not for certain. So it'd be nice to say 'the theory is' instead of 'they are'?
🔫
fite me
well we'd need to first of all know the environment fully
ima say this why tf are all the sleepers the same while the shootys are ALL the same aswell I would assume thats the distinction between sex
Why would you assume that?
and pin point what bs are we dealing with, so far im betting on fungi/virus
because i have never seen so many men look alike
I'd assume they're the same because it repurposes bodies to what it thinks it needs to protect the hive.
There are giant shooters and giant strikers. How did we get those?
we not talking about those for now
thats why we need to know more about the habitat
Honestly, are the bodies repurposed like we think or is that crap in the ceiling where they come from?
what has happened at the start of the infection
if everyone just ran tf away when they could, the big guys dont have much of a purpose
i would assume a alien biowep/alien parasite infected with virus's etc that was sent to earth onw way or another
But its in a crater that's half underwater.
we found it sitll
considering its in only 2 places so far i dont think its their point of origin. it can however be breeding grounds for whatever affects them ' v'
which would mean the big guys are just big because of body-proportions or abnormalities
and its in the facility
I mean, they.... are ridiculously big.
@last saffron like that growling in the trailer
which could be the Host hivemine or just the infector like alien instead of making eggs it just infects hosts
since ULF loves his alien
what would be the point of our guys having gas masks then?
maybe even whatever it is is like alien and affects different creatures differently etc
i assume that the infection is airborne to some level
bad breath confirmed
yeah, something like that
could be the fact youre underground with barely working ventilation and chem barrels just strewn about for god knows how long
you know that too
the fact they have thermoses and flasks laying around near those makes me
angry
who need Osha
If you open a new room, the gas masks could keep you from the pharaoh's curse.
thats about as much NSFW as you can get
still not sure why noone is thinking about the fact that the place could just be sealed/nuked/exterminatus'd
it doesnt feel like a violent take over to be fair
I'm assuming there's more to it than that.
but yet they throw in criminals with a basic amount of equipment to retrieve things
nuking underground cavern below an ocean isnt exactly a good idea
considering you only spawn as prisoners, which would be in fact criminals
Some of the people aren't though.
we dont really know if we are convicts. by definition prisoner is someone bereift of freedom against their will
which is also appliable to hostage
i assume its some modern sort of prison that just sets you in this worlds' version of cryosleep until later date
documentary called us scavengers being held against our will if i remember
Also, it says we're all infected or infection level 'unknown'
Maybe it was a treatment center?
"Keep the people near the infection site so that we can use any breakthroughs on them."
"Oh, that went all wrong.."
my guess was that they accidentally got exposed, built a new level to try and see and then gestation period ended. atleast that would be better than gov/scary company conspiracy plot #2525827525
well, a prison wouldnt really have "Mining Industries" plastered all about it to be fair
or have heavy duty machinery inside it
fair
thats what i keep saying ' v'
could be a mine that was operated by prisoners
^
we dont see any guard posts anywhere either
maybe in the future
but for now its just kinda..storage
Good ol' miner #231 Minnie Escobar - Age 15.
dont need guard posts if all the prisoners are connected via neural uplink to the warden
we are only dropped in as adult prisoners for the time being
youre assuming warden is from the complex
That HSU literally has a 15 year old in it.
which would be under assumption that they have a fair supply of people they can thrown down there
all of the HSU residents are suffering from split head syndrome but thats probably either a placeholder or just to give a general outline someone is in there
while anyone unfit for it is just held in HSU's because theres no reason to do anything about it
Why would we assume the 15 year old is a placeholder?
i mean the body inside,
well what are you going to do, throw a 15 year old to sneak through hordes of these guys?
they all share the corpse with a split head model
They're hydrostasis units. Literally there to keep the infection in stasis most likely.
we have to extract DNA from these HSU's iirc in some missions
HSUs can give a full on body scan, xray, tissue samples and so on
I thought they just did cat scans.
im pretty much just throwing ideas until something sticks
That's an axial tomography scan.
or computer axial tomography scan ( CAT )
I got one of those yesterday. 😆
it did show the tissue sampling on the lines when you start up but it fades rather quick
what if the guys we drop in as are prisoners actually pulled from a prison somewhere?
eh
i mean think about it
You know.
Bishop is supposedly related to santonian
I'm betting they remember some of their drops and are just cloned.
Dauda knows something but wont tell
"you might die, you will almost definetly have PTSD, but if you do manage to pull it off you will get years off your sentence"
ehhhhhh
tbf clones would make sense
a clone wouldnt have its originator memories
since we only drop in as the same 4 guys
thats still an entirely different person, youre injecting someone elses memory into an entirely different conciousness
Maybe. Or just a pre-built body you have.
also cloning would kinda, negate all risks whatsoever same way meat puppets would
its not a bad idea, just makes stuff a lil too easy
and i dont mean full on exterminator boios
I don't think this company cares about it not being easy.
we dont know if there are advanced robotics
you could get away with RC'ing a bloody bomb disposal drone that is beefed up to not get thrown to the side in one push, and a gun strapped onto it
we have something like that already sort of, on experimental scale
imagine a small dog sized APC
its being used for prosthetics ' v'
its really, really early, but works
albeit a bit slower
Maybe, but we don't have serviceable stasis pods.
infection level HIGH
we have sortish stasis in form of induced coma (which is an extremely scary thought)
dont use antibiotics if you dont have prescription
"i diagnose you with having your head turn into venus flytrap|
I don't do it for fun. 😆
dont fuck with most pills honestly if you dont know what is affecting you tbfh

looks at my mom taking ibuprofen daily
<.<
hah
How did we go from cortex interface injections to me not taking medicine inspite of having a prescription? 😆
magic
we go quick
i wonder what are the portholes we emerge from
Taking it daily sounds really bad for the liver
i mean
you get pulled out by what looks like a conveyor
Totally not a clone pod.
with a specialized claw
my mom hurts pretty much everywhere and refuses to go to a doctor get examined like a sane person so yanno
Sounds like my mother whenever I think I should go to a doctor
I bet she’ll still tell me “drink more water” and “stop playing on your PC so much” even if I turn into a sleeper
"Stop making that clicking noise and do your chores!"
“Mom I have a split head, my chest is glowing, can I see a doctor now?”
“No, just take painkillers and drink more water”
"Did anyone else in your family complain when their head split into teeth and they started glowing? No."
i still need to stop being a lazy arse and do B1 so i can get to C2 and take some funky pictures
What's a burger funnel?
a mouth
If I wasn't very very sick I'd run you through B1.
the bullrush striker screen on wiki is fokin useless
i have a clear shot of their head from a dataminer, but i cant post it because thats against the rules
oh btw if i finish both B's while my friend is the host, can i actually do C's?
the host needs to have the thing unlocked
Very against the rules.
Don't you unlock it if you finish with your friend and you've already done A?
you can do levels you dont have access to if the host has em, which is nice
thats why im asking if they also unlock for me if we go chronologically
or if they should at least
if you go by the order then yes
oh, in that case stop being a lazy arse and lets go shoot some pictures
i do actually need to check if i have C unlocked
you know, a strange question arose
how would whatever infects them react to a transgender person
since if youre in transition youre taking hormones and whatnot
Not for sure. x.x
we dont know anything about the thing infecting them
^
iirc we dont even know if its a virus
so it could change people based on the amount of hormones, chromosomes etc
the "tongue" sort of looks like a bloodworm/lamprey
but we dont know if it actually does
Okay, I'm going bed. You all stay lovely and questioning!
we'd need someone that actually deals with various types of diseases and infections on a daily basis
but so far im honestly betting on virus/fungi
Might be a parasite like the Plagas
ive been thinking about a combination
a parasite would make sense tbfh
they do feel similar to plaga, with exception of mutations
a parasitic lifeform could survive the harshness of space as well as the heat on reentry
bacteria can for sure, extremophiles
Viruses are less plausible to survive extreme heat
considering these guys dont react to getting shot as much as you'd assume, it would make perfect sense that theres a parasite
theres probability of a virus arriving on a meteor inside an extremophile bacteria, but it wouldnt cause much to anything but said bacteria
or whatever is left of a brain is pretty much sponge
since viruses which assault bacteria are always specialized on them specifically
Viruses tend to be specialized in general
it could in theory make a species jump
That’s why feline immunovirus has no effect on humans
HiV as an example
Bird flu too
and now that permafrost is melting
That’s due to mutation
im lowkey spooked
Viruses are prone to mutations
plague resurfaced in china
wouldnt it be neat if whatever it is actually came from Santonian time period
where are the 2012 "the end is nigh" guys
well, thanks to antivax a couple diseases actually returned so
the end is nigh! flails
Pigs and bats are the worst carriers because viruses are more likely to mutate in them before jumping species
i still dont get antivaxxers, but thats what you get when theres too much knowledge around ignorant people
i remembered theres actually no cure for common cold
Yeah, the rhinovirus family mutates too much. Even if you get a cure it soon loses its effectiveness
were also getting a vaccine against a new strain of something every year now
good thing someone is already thinking about colonizing a new planet
it doesnt even like, get deadly, it stays the same just doesnt get affected by treatment
the viruses are playing the long game in plague inc ofc
unless we find means to travel faster than light, no living person, or their children, or children of their children will settle a planet
Well if you played Plague Inc. then you know the key to a successful run is to not be deadly, because you want to reproduce by spreading your infection around
i mean
we did lose a fair amount of people
just by trying to get people onto the north pole iirc
Well Mars is a possibility
colonizing the moon or mars would be interesting
just need to figure out gravity stuff, or else returning back would be funky
Moon is not too likely, the gravity is 1/6 that of Earth’s, it would be hard to sustain a colony if you want to grow crops etc.
theres also the fact that your body mass would change in later generations
And moondust literally hurts your lungs if you inhale it by accident
to adapt for gravity
i want to explore the giant ocean on europa
Yeah, your bones get weaker
under layers of ice
dont they just become uh
tfw plot of barotrauma, everyone moved to europa
in zero gravity you actually get taller, your spine elongates
not weaker, but theres going to be less of your bones and more empty on the inside like bird bones?
but, it also affects your bone marrow iirc
Astronauts who spend a significant amount of time in space (like on the ISS) have to maintain their mass by doing rigorous exercise everyday.
Otherwise they will have a hard time when they return
yeah
if you really wanted to live in a different gravity than earth, prepare for you and your children to not be able to make it back to earth
In theory, a creature that is adapted for gravity stronger than Earth’s would be stronger than we are if they visit us
But yeah, so in terms of colonization I think Mars is a more likely candidate
Similar mass to Earth, with similar gravity
all you'd need is to terraform it
Yea
so so far with elon musk we might have a plan B soon if someone ends up killing earth like the boomers did
lol
time to settle on the bottom of the ocean
though i am interested in the possible life on other earth-like planets
If the theory of convergent evolution holds true, advanced lifeforms from other planets would probably look similar to us. 2 eyes, 1 mouth, 4 limbs
hmm, if you think about it
what if this infection is originating from another earth-like planet?
i like the idea what it potentially came from deep seas
my biggest problem with it coming from space is how did it get on the meteor in the first place
albeit a possibility that something like chixculub hit another planet, and chunks were flunged out into space
although those would have to be absolutely enormous to not burn up completely and remain at same size chix was when it arrived here
since earth actually gets pelted with meteors, it just they rarely make it past our atmosphere
I think the most recent one to cause significant damage was Tungaska event
There was also the one a few years back, also in Russia, where it blew out the windows of a town when it crashed
wasnt there a talk about one asteroid possibly not managing to pass us soon?
huh
Anyone know what the dont look up thing means in c2? I know there is weird stuff up there but there doesn't seem to be any effect of it?
Ive tried researching some lore on the game online just in general but for the most part i can't find anything other than character names and monster types
I believe this is currently unknown
the lore will be revealed through audio/text logs in the future, so for now theres little to no info. as for why the growth in c2 doesnt react to anything, thats due to the fact its not an entity like Hosts are, but rather piece of scenery. it might do something in the future though, or might stay as static decoration
Probably static decoration. They might have something crawling around on the ceiling though. To be honest, what it might be is referring to the new enemy in C2. Begging them not to look up while creeping past.
anyone want to play
Wrong chat for that, try the LFG chats.
considering they scream right after its referring to the ceiling growth, rather than bullrush strikers
they do have intact eyes actually, however it doesnt seem to have good eyesight
ever wondered why they scream?
because for us humans, its an expression to alert others
but they dont do it
protect the queen... whos the queen?..... I'm the queen!!!
Still need to beat C2... I might have time to do that today though. Then it’s D1 hell! Hoo boy... But yeah, I’m not sure if it’s foreshadowing something coming in a future update or not. Unlike some of the other mission transmissions, nothing is highlighted in red.
Oh yeah, not saying it isn’t important. But it might not be current mission critical.
no i dont think its important for C2's reason we are there.... this time... i expect to be exploring that floor more in the future 😖
Agreed.
I'm expecting meat corridors, and if I don't get them. ..
I would say that we probably gotta blow up/destroy/get samples from some kinda hive like structure deeper down.
Let me note too, the spaces we see that creeping organic stuff on the ceiling is breaking through hardened concrete. It’s like it’s breaking or eating it’s way through the rock layers of the complex.
And not even at the deepest point of the complex
We could be surrounded by the stuff and not even know
I would say max depth for it would be C2 at the moment.
But it might also be something to explain the number of enemies in each section. Could be a transport system or something.
As for the things around the hole, those spike guys... I would honestly call them “guardians”.
They only seem to appear around the holes, or places near the holes, and seem to be kinda like bodyguards for the stuff above.
Hey at the end of a level I noticed that one of the characters has unknown on everything infection level mental status etc is there a reason behind that? It also seems to be the guy who speaks in the trailer
Kinda random fluff at the moment
It’s randomized yeah.
It'd be neat if they made it represent run stats later
Yeah i definitely want to know more about the goo in the ceilings
How about the fact that in the hole you go in, steel beams are curving up as something forced it's way up from the bottom
do we know anything about the 4 operators?
The 4 "prisoners" have descriptions by simon and thats it
Bishop is mentioned in Santonian websites sourcecode
My guys don't seem to interact much
I have 1 who just says careful sleepers like 80 times
they have lines, but only state them in reaction to players and events... dont do the action, dont get the voice
in the documentary video they talk with the sound designer and interview one of the voice actors
the system isnt entirely in so not all interactions are avaliable
So, something I'm wondering..
Who exactly is The 'Warden'...what caused the prisoners to become prisoners. Why is it that you 'establish brain link' or what not...
Are there multiple prisoners? Or are the four you play as specifically tasked?
Or perhaps they're cloned, forced to do this until success.
What do y'all think?
All excellent questions that have been discussed, and yet to be given official answers. Something to ponder about, in the trailer from a couple years ago: Duada's monologue goes something like this "There are different people everytime, but I recognize them somehow..."
Something makes me think this whole "prisoner" thing has been going on for a long, long time.
New player here, was wondering HOW human are these things cause I heard one say "fuck" when I shot it
and is there any inspiration from SCP-3199?
Really? Maybe I haven't been listening close enough
Was in B1 shot a little dude and he said fuck sort of quietly
I'm assuming the monsters are at least linked to people in some way, either through forced mutation or other insidious experiments. That's just a guess though.
And if they used to be human, they're not even close to human now.
yea clearly
A lot of speculation of a parasite being involved possibly
Venus fly trap face ain't exactly human
Well that's just rude.

It could just be a skin condition for all you know.
-_-
is not human...or if he was...
What are those things called anyways?
Technically they're all called 'Sleepers'.
You know they sleep all the time
The most common enemies are 'Sleepers'.
Think they are inspired by SCP-3199?
They have two variants, Shooters and Strikers, named for obvious reasons.
Cause that was my first thought on seeing them
I call SplitFace.
The Big ones I just call 'Big Splitface' or whatever.
Scouts are just 'Scouts' or 'Those fucking tentacle fucks'.
The ones that have the weird spikey head I call 'HeadSpiker'
Sleepy bois, THICC bois, Hentai bois, and Halo 2 bois
'Halo 2 bois' sound awful
Hentai bois you say
I hate going up against those.
I hate the SplitFacers the most.
Since the last thing I want is one of them to be crabwalking at me at Mach5
Didn't even think about calling them that, but I might be able to get a couple of friends to play it now with that.
A similar picture is in game but I'm not too sure if it's that exact one.
Which one you referring to, Ethan?
I think the 'Halo 2' ones Salt was referring to are the Shooters.
Needler-face
Splitface is what I (un)affectonatly name them.
Narutorun at me, crab walk at me, I don't care...it freaks me the fuck out.
Just be happy they don't snap and crack their neck to look back at you
I wonder if there's any in-universe explanation for those sub-variants.
Wouldn't that just be wonderful?
I got a weird idea about the warden and the prisoners
Going about then suddenly hearing craakkkkcrak and seeing a SPlitface staring at you and running at you
well... this is what i get for coming into this room... nightmares
As far as being inspired by SCP3199, no, probably not
Game has been in development for longer than one might think
As it stands, it seems like there are some mutations that might have specific roles. For instance, the enemies you meet for the first time in c2. They stand around the holes, and you din’t encounter them in other rooms that don’t have a hole in the ceiling it seems.
They eat people who fall in?
They don't seem to care about people aside from killing them
Or the corpses in zones would have been eaten long ago
Though there are still corpses hanging around, so that’s a little uncertain.
They also don't stop to chow down on fallen prisoners
It’s obvious they use those corpses for something else
But for what?
H M M
I wonder.
Considering the growth that was on the ceiling? Maybe some sort of like... nutrient thing for wherever all that is coming from. That or there’s something else happening to the bodies.
The bodies might get turned into more of those things.
Since there are such a massive number of them throughout the complex.
I'm assuming it doesn't always take/is interrupted at points
flawless baddies are boring
Might also depend on how the body dies.
Though these things might be more parasitic, causing mutations based in individual strain or genetic code.
right now they seem to prefer male bodies for strikers, female for shooters
@opaque pond That makes me a very certain type of happy in bed 😉
If you look closely at the head of a sitting shooter variant you can sometimes see a human face when it glows
You can also see the face of a striker, split in half on either side of the maw
shouldnt the males be the shooters? just sayin...
depends how the parasites and mutations work
What’s the story of this game?
@tired heart we dont know alot right now. basically, we are prisoners sent by THE WARDEN down into THE COMPLEX to carry out missions... we know other prisoners have been sent or are down there... and that many have died ... we don't know much about the monsters etc
hello
im looking for 2 players to play witn me and my friend! we are new to the game
I would suggest going into one of the looking for group channels for that. This channel is for discussing game lore.
It could be that the males are face splitters because they're melee and men are naturally stronger than females. The bulbous head on the females could be related to some sort of egg sac possibly. This would also make more sense for them to stay further away while the males attack more aggressively. Im wondering if the regular females will eventually turn into scouts after further mutation.
If they have some sort of pheromones, perhaps perhaps only a certain ratio turn into scouts
I wonder what phenomenon causes shadows
By the shape and protrusions of the bumps on all infected enemies. Sleepers, scouts and giants so far. They all seem to at least carry a cluster of sacks probably with a puss that can spread infection in skin contact. Considering the prisoners are gas masked and fully clothed at least it's a good chance this infection can spread airborne and waterborne. Which leaves many hosts exposed to the elements and sacks are probably the first identifiable signs of infection. We know it isn't a parasite because theirs no creature that bursts out
Its Ethier fungal or bacterial
Since we don't see rodents or other small creatures either allowing it to spread more effectivly
Creature as in something akin to a growing worm or insects in the sacs to prove its eggs
I think it's a virus rather than bacteria but fungal is possible
Fungal would allow a more hivemind approach and identify their likeness more effectivly. Bacteria on this kind of mutation wouldn't care who it was or be able to tell who's infected, causing them to be aggressive among each other
As least plants we know have a sort of communication ability
I'm assuming full on parasitic organism
It could be a small parasite located in the head or something
Wouldn't work. You can completely remove the head of some of them and they'll function just fine even
The whole body is changed in some way.
Indeed
A fungal infection can spread through the entire body. Especially the spores
And a human body in a dark place?
It's the perfect breeding ground
The tongue exists without the upper body, I'm saying that's part of the actual creature
The reason i don't think it's fungal is theres no mold and stuff
The state of the lower levels should have mold or mushroom growing especially where water is dripping but it doesn't
So a bacteria you think?
Im kind of into the idea that the tongue is the parasite
I suppose the sacks would be filled with a surplus of puss and fat
If there's no mold i don't think it's bacterial either it seems the areas are pretty air sealed at least in upper levels
It may be that anything living even fungal is eaten or absorbed
Or it could be that the monsters don't exist at all and the
is making them exist
The facility seems to be in pretty good condition still which makes me think either this took over really fast or it's all in our heads
It could be they were testing something down there that went wrong and contaminated everything. It definitely doesn't look like a prison.
Part of me thought it was chernobyl
You know the place is called DeathTick in english
What, Chernobyl?
and it basically a mayan underground temple ... tunnel .... thingy
from the trailers my first impression was this infection was done intentionally and the prisoners sent in were on a death row kinda sentance. So the cortex owners basically threw prisoners down here with fakes objectives to act as a form of media and entertainment
for viewers
I first thought it was a secret military base but theres no weapons or anything really to help us so my second opinion was a nuclear facility
There's also a possi
so my guess is that the mining company was mining in the levels and looking for mayan treasures
i forgot the name in spanish
but the place is in mexico
nah it doesn't feel like a mining facility.
Idk i don't see anything mayan in there
840 meters down? Idk about that.
dude it literally says mining company on the doors
It's like area 51
they were mining something for sure
If it says mining it's a fake cover imo
theirs no drills tho.
because they got destroyed by the meteor impact which caused the tunnel
Mining doesn't do that level of interior metal
and the mining operators led the virus out
accidentaly
we would have a main drill section and the ammount of floor space is to much.
This was partially a warehouse or something
idk man ill just play the game
We're all speculating don't take it personal
yeah.
okay
if it was a mining and research company it would be far more effeciant to have done it on the surface.
I mean im not a miner
but they burrowed so far underneath and had so many split office spaces halls and computer that it's shady
it's very obviously shady as f
But i didn't think they finished the tunnels in metal or had security doors of that level
well u see it says Mining company on the doors but idk if it is cover up
It could be like space mining?
maybe
i do find it interesting that theirs a hole going straight down to the very bottom of the place .
Dead space anyone?
that allows the prisoners to drop right down to whichever floor
but the original trailer showed a code name deathtick for the tunnel and the coordinates were earth coordinates
Well the hole seems unnatural
Like it was ripped though
Why does the rebar go up?
If the warden is an AI he could just be putting bodies in places to do stuff
so something from beneath blew upwards and theirs no claw marks or scratches
so it was a blast on every floor straight to the surface potentially

Put them together, and you are led to Chicxulub (demon tick)
The name Chicxulub is Yucatec Maya language, where ch’ik means "flea" or "tick", and xulub’ means "devil, demon, or horns" From there we theorize the underground aspect of the game connects to the nearby Chicxulub Crater drilling site
and if u check on Google this mining town is real and had a meteor crash
interesting
Aliens it is
the game/level takes place in Mexico, within the state of Yucatán in a town called Chicxulub. The significance of this location is that a real-life asteroid created an impact crater that was buried underneath the Yucatán peninsula located near Chicxulub, which is likely where the game takes place.
a real life asteroid hit it bois
it's call of duty ghost. payday mod
But what came out of it
and as of 2016 a team drilled like 700 meteres into the real life crater
so 840 doesnt sound that impossible
sounds like a sink hole waiting to happen
It isn’t that impossible. Also, isn’t the crater underwater?
There's also a possibility that the creatures attack on several fronts at once. Perhaps a parasitic creature, like a fluke that starts small but then grows into the host and eventually takes it over, reworking it from the inside and eventually completely deleting the original human's existance, leaving only a mutilated shell that the creature controls from inside. Meanwhile, the creatures also cultivate a type of virus or bacteria to work in concert with them. Most likely an immunosuppresant to make taking over a host more easy. Shooters could be effective for implanting new parasites while strikers inflict disease to set up a new host. It'd also explain why they don't neccesarily kill prisoners w
hen they're down.
part of the crater outline is into the land itself
U remember that tentacle from the original trailer?
Just like dead space
i bet that is the hostile life form at the center of the very bottom of the crater
and he is generating the fungus
which spread infections
But wait
That means they dug down into it and built all that stuff first before it broke out
and somehow the goddamn meteor decided to go straight through the ground and making a big hole into the underground operation center
Ok the Thing i suggest is ground was intact , facility underground , meteor crash , destroys the facility and makes a hole in it , humans are curious and they trigger the life form
boom
GTFO
I'm pretty sure the whole facility was already there before the infection spread
yeh
But the hole is going up not down
Checking at the crater would seems that something got out from it instead of crashing into it
hmm well i did see the floor curving upwards where it was destroyed
Unless the thing that crashed was smaller than whatever came out of it
but i am still sticking to the meteor theory
It's a fair theory
Im thinking that black sludge is whatever the creature was
That’s an interesting idea.
But what I like about the whole thing is that the devs are kinda building up the story with the suggestions we're arguing about I think, kinda cool
It could be like the blob and grow in mass the more it consumes
So landed in meteor went to bottom floor ate everything broke out
There could me a meteor containing something, crater was built over, then something got out of it
Like there was a Facility Underground and the town has a mayan name , so maybe the facility was mining mayan stuff , then meteor crashed , facility got a hole , and they picked the almost infected village guys , make them human robots and people are controlling them
I mostly agree with the people that think that a form of parasite spread from the asteroid debris they were studying in the lower levels
the story is already complete, they know whats happening as told by simon himself.
@last saffron bruh
I just find it hard to believe this level of technology being for a mining facility for mayan relics
I think it's more likely it was doing something unethical
yeh i am still not convinced about the mayan part
..Mayan relics?
like relics from the game The Forest?
It could have been used as a cover though
as far as im concerned, Mayans didnt even exist in Santonian era.
What does that era have to do with it?
the crater
Must be asteroid related fact
Ah
Santonian (aside from the games company name) is a geological timescale
So the level of technology before hand probably not possible
yeah I don't think the mayans would have anything to do with the facility anf crater itself
besides the residual culture around the area outside
its suggested were at the crates center, underwater
Well I mean, if you see a strange virus/parasite or bacteria setting fire to our planet, must be from outerspace.
well, the facility rather
It could be an ancient nature creature though
fungus, bacteria, etc... it is possible that it is none of these things entirely.
just so you peeps have a general idea how the whole place looks like
So it's more likely they were studying the meteor and it broke out then?
so the crater hit 66 million years ago with a hostile life at its center ,
its not too far offshore, but its buried under layers of sediment
"hostile" being a relative term
we also had an expedition irl
I kinda agree with the suggestion that something came out from the asteroid
@opaque pond i mean we are very hostile yeh
i doubt any living thing would live through the impact, epicenter especially
it brought up minerals from deep, pink granite to be precise
could have been presevered DNA and some scientists did the absolute worst idea which came to their head first
It could if it was like the movie evolution
and killed off most life, caused megatsunami which went as far as new york or so
nothing would live through that. if not by impact then by lack of anything living in miles and miles and miles around
Dormant life though
Well, could also be that whatever spread from the debris caused mutations in the sealife, but I hardly believe it
yeh Dormant life
They technically don't have to follow real world logic at all for this
a complex organism, 0 chance. something like a bacteria maybe.
and 66 million years is a lot of time for the animals from other oceans to come to the crater
Yea that's why i said like the movie evolution
Would go with bacteria or parasites as well
Yeh i agree a parasite like a fungi
Meteor came down with bacteria and mutated from there
Bacteria has the most change to survive an impact and spreading to a new planet
which evolved in 66 million years
just so you have the general idea of whats inside them
excluding shooters, since shooters dont have those. for now.
It looks a lot like a lamprey.
I'm saying that's the actual creature
I can get behind that
hmm
Bacteria from the meteor got into the scientists and turned into that like a tape worm
A bigger one im thinking
hmm
I'm saying that's a more evolved or developed version
Bacteria cant exactly form a creature on their own. A virus is more likely to cause something drastic, since it needs living things to exist. directly injecting themselves into cells and warping them
The whole trailer took place in a deeper part of the complex
I'm saying it's not quite as clear cut
they cant exist outside a host, they just take a different form until then
so it could be a virus which survived the impact
a lifeform could have qualities from viral, bacterial and parasitic all in one nasty package
much like the neomorphs from Covenant
in theory a virus can come on a meteor
A bacteria or virus can trick the cells into attacking themselves
yeh we dont know much about the parasite rn
just not alone
Extremophile bacteria would handle space fine, and can harbor viruses feeding on them. Albeit those type of viruses dont really pose any risk to anything but the bacteria they prey on
however it could somehow make a species jump, like HiV did
lifeforms we have yet to see
The moral of the story is , when humans interfere with something from space , they get rekt , so we just better fill that crater with cement
the end
Lol
Imagine like a meteor never happened
kill it with fire
it could be something prehistoric, or from deep waters. Someone theorized theyre quite similar to life in twillight zone
everything down there glows and pretty much in constant state of devouring eachother
lest they die
Im assuming they can't because the risk so the prisoners are supposed to test stuff. Although we are covered we seem to be immune.
jellies arent the only thing that glow
jk lol
[science intensifies]
i just hope its not yet another Conspiracy plot #95958325905828520
Species jump implies it would have afflicted something similar to humans to begin with.
well idk much about Biology i am a physics and math guy
It's something that was devoid of light
like an angler fish?
If you didn't notice most of the sleepers are drained of blood
White see through skin and little mess when you kill
Angler fish, and almost everything in the void glows
its how they hunt/defend
we dont understand most of it either
thats true
We’re fighting space aids, smh.
Lol
for all we might know it could be Space Influenza
and more is yet to come
plot intensifies
i present you a fish which can roll its eyeballs up to stare at the sky without turning
ah shit
just like me when someone post another naruto runner joke
barrel fish
oh
anyway, the things inside Hosts looks quite a bit like bloodworms
could be repurposed intestine, but intestines are shaped a bit differently
a quick note, when the story is in, it wont be presented the "traditional" way. well have to search for voice/text logs and most likely listen to character dialogue once the entire system is in
and the outside world is part of it all.
Better than presented in item descriptions
(just kidding I love the esoteric, detached story in dark souls)
We do know one thing: we are in some form of dystopia. There is some dire need coming from these places that throwing people into the metaphorical and literal blender is a common thing. While yes, you are assumed to be a prisoner and thus have committed crimes, this could range from petty to truly heinous stuff. We also know that this isn't just an isolated incident: there are multiple places that have these things. Where, how, why, or when it started is still unknown, but I do agree that only presenting information and lore in item descriptions will end up making things fall flat.
what do you mean multiple places
the only place they appear is the complex. theres no info on their presence anywhere else.
We do swap out the Rundown every now and then, yes?
Prisoner implies captive, not criminal
Thank you for the correction, heretic Slaanesh.
The characters in the game could be anyone the company had their eye on, from employees to snoops, etc. Blackbags for all!
In documentary Simon calls them "scavengers being held against their will" which kinda fits with definition of prisoner (and hostage simultaneously)
Hm... I wonder how strong an organization it is that they can kidnap/have such easy access so many people.
Scientologists
The end boss is Tom Cruise. He runs real fast.
my guess is that its partially from former workers/people noone would miss. the complex is enormous so its entirely possible there were quite a few people managing to live against all odds
the monsters are from the plant seen in the movie avatar clearly
It's clearly Disney world
Demagorgons
Is in another planet or Russia present day?
@tired heart we think its earth, in south america, but it hasn't been confirmed, for all we know its another planet or asteroid
there were some clues in the alpha/beta
the coordinates point at chixculub, which is in gulf of mexico
Though based on the depth, the rather abundant rainfall coming in from above, all that, I would guess it’s probably an offshore platform.
half of chixculub, if not more, is offshore
the center is not that far away but still underwater
Yeah, based on that, I could see a platform out there. Possibly some sort of repurposed oil derrick or something. Just drill beneath the surface layer of the ocean floor and go from there maybe.
the problem is, the drop point suggests the tunnel you drop into wasnt made originally. alongside metal wrecks pointing upwards there are collapsed passageways/chambers on the sides of the tunnel
Yeah, that’s the issue. I don’t know why the hole is there. It’s convenient, to be sure, but considering the depth, it makes you wonder why we need validation for different things in the game. Why not go down to the floor we need to reach straight away, right? So there’s gotta be something else that we’re missing.
Like maybe we need the verification from different officers on different floors to open the doors at all or something.
Once I get back home from christmas I’ll do D1. Did C2 yesterday and beat that one. So just D1 left. Gotta say that door at the end of C2 was pretty unique.
@glad shore you should read the level text when you select a level on the rundown, in short we: A1 needs administrators DNA to access systems, B1 you need id cards to access those same systems later on, B2 you require an officers DNA to access C1, on C1 you use all the stuff to access ||the reactor without raising alarms, the security doors may not have been alarms because of the items we collected|| c1 allows us access to D1 , i forgot what C2 had.
idk if that fits in here at all but i found a pair of blody pants in A1 and i guess it hints at other expedition squads who died before the player or some shit
or the workers who died
the game hints as you drop, that other teams have gone in, or are active on other floors.... from the text that pops up
yep
Come to think of it, C2 extracts in a different spot than where we came in... Maybe the hole we go down in doesn't actually lead to the next floor all the time. Like we need to open it up somehow? Maybe there's a kinda line that has to be opened for us to get to the next level or something, it's hard to tell when the descent is so dark.
@glad shore || I've heard c2 has 2 xfil points||
the complex is wide underground, maybe a path isn't open anymore, there do seem to be cave-ins
Can confirm what is in the spoiler.
Well. Sorta. It has a separate point. You start off on one side, end up on the other.
So you don't go back to the start. It looks like the warden wants to immediately send you lower.
So yeah, based on that, I'm thinking that the straight line we believed was the descent might not actually be correct. We might be moving sideways at points, over some sort of specialized delivery system, to reach the lower levels.
no... i think we just walk on foot... the drop is the drop. unless there are other drops in...🤔
dont think there is a latteral deploying system.
I mean, sure, but why have a separate exfil point then?
likely no choice... I'd have to replay c2 again.
could be that pathway closed behind us...
Not like we can't go back to the start once we have what we came for. Not to mention, the second exfil point is behind a locked door with an alarm.
The thing I'm thinking is that you have to open up other pathways in some small part because of the cave-ins. There's gotta be something to that. Not to mention how unique the door to C2s exfil is compared to every other door.
It looks WAY more high-tech than the previous doors
Yeah. That makes me think that there's something that's not being explained going on with the doors.
experiments / science vrs mining operations
The mining operation and experiments could go hand in hand. With how deep below sea level we are, they probably need to drill and do all sorts of things down there. Why not turn it into a profit
yeah
From the looks of the base, it's self-sustainable/isolated. The refinery and other stuff could be used to make more materials and structures from the metals mined up using the drills. The generator powers the whole base, and clearly isn't the only thing operating. Otherwise we wouldn't have power in the upper levels.
@last saffron you got maps of levels? C2?
@glad shore yeah... im so curious to know more
That's why I feel like there's gotta be some sort of transport system we're using. Possibly some form of remnant from the facility itself, used to move stuff from ground level to top level. I've seen small lifts and other stuff, but there's not any actual elevators or other things in the facility save for I think one on... Shoot, maybe B1 when we were getting the PIDs?
Though that was broken, pretty sure.
Even then it only went up a few floors. Pretty inefficient for transporting stuff, so there's gotta be something else they used.
Well. I say inefficient, but more that for hundreds of feet, you just can't rely on a bunch of disconnected elevators. There's gotta be something raising and lowering equipment, materials, manpower, all that stuff has to get to different levels somehow quickly.
when you travel to B2, if you look to the left it seems like a tunnel of sorts @glad shore
could have used carts and such to transport said resources
That would work. There might have been some stuff on the ceiling or some such to help with transporting larger cargo loads too. Might be using that. Could be dark because of either a power outage, or the warden had to choose between having the lights on and, you know, actually moving us down.
yeah
in B1 you see a lot of heavy lifting equipment, so theres that as well
there could have been a tunnel for vehicles to get supplies down?
Likely yeah. We do see forklifts everywhere.
looks like there are lifts of sorts on the roof as well
there is a crane lowering us in
Yeah but no way that can reach everywhere.
I have a feeling the devs haven't actually made any lore and made this chat to take notes lol
It would be genius you guys come up with good stuff
nawww
so when you make a game you write a game design document that lays out everything
this is so the team is consistent
and it can be used as a pitch to investors
What if they just made everything for aesthetic and didn't plan to explain any of it until we started theorizing
I'm joking but I think the conspiracy would be funny if true
Personally with the drop i feel like we're probably in stasis chambers and stopped from an aircraft or something. We don't wake up until our pod opens and we can't see up. There is obviously something above us preventing the area being flooded despite being underwater. Should be moved by air or vehicle and not activated until dropping.
you can look up during drop
all you see is the crane and a comms tower and grey skies and rain
nothing says part of the complex isnt underwater or flooded thou
Always raining too. Isn't that just a fantastic way to start an expedition?
"Hey, we know you're probably gonna die and wanna see the sun one last time, but sucks to be you!"
Does gtfo mean get the fuck out or is something different?
?t gtfo
The game is called GTFO and it doesn't stand for "Get The Fuck Out" but rather the feeling you have that you want to complete The Warden's objective and GTFO.
Mine never shows that tbh
when you find out right word combines pretty neat.
Being dropped directly by crane doesn't mean you can't be transported by vehicle or aircraft before. Also that picture could just be a large room not necessarily a sky.
Get The Fucking Oreos.
@wide minnow I think it's the sky being that it's raining
considering there are lightning bolts
unless your room is the size of a gigantic cavern, its open skies
the second pic is where your pods emerge from. when solo the other pods are not pulled so you can see them the way it starts, facing up before getting pulled out and attached to the drop cage
Meh then ignore everything i speculate about

Ahaha, @frosty pollen funny thing that my Steam nickname God Dammit, so sometimes guys said that what u said 😄
xD
I feel like dropping prisoners into this hole is less efficient than just having a pod full of drones go in with a communication relay all the way to the operators on the surface.
Like have a half dozen combat drones like the SHIV from X-Com and like maybe 1-2 with manipulators for item recovery, data extraction and breaching door bulkheads.
Have like biometrics spoofing for the doors so you don't actually need 4 random humans to open them.
a drone in that kind of environment wouldnt be really helpful
Wouldn't it be attacked instantly?
Sure, but drones are replaceable and tough.
ehhh
Also a drone with the kind of capabilites you're talking about are expensive and I doubt would be made for each mission
4 expendables are much cheaper than a full combat droid with remote controls
Exactly
droid?
especially since those expendables are much more versatile
I'm not talking droids from like starwars
drone/droid doesnt matter really
Lmao
all it takes to stop them is a toppled shelf, a ladder and a blast door. remember, you cant just sit still for the door to complete the scan
A ladder there is the first one I can see problematic
youd have to give them storage for keys, somehow make them be able to pull the lever
and manage to track all the bioscans
Well like real life drones they can be made with arms
all while angry god knows whats are swarming it from each side
itll get bogged in seconds
I said that you have like 4 or 6 like actual combat drones
in a cramped environment
Oh god that would be way too expensive
theyd end up blasting eachother
with what
and they have operators
hell you could possibly do it with the manipulator equipment drones
the picture you posted isnt helping
theres not enough space for a mini tank, let alone 6 of them
you've clearly not played xcom
xcom
hell you could even bring up xenonauts if you're that grognard
yes, the game where you can miss a shot while your target is literally standing infront of you, the barrel of your gun is pressed on it
either way, you get support in both
yes, the game clearly someone is failing to understand
because shotguns get 100% accuracy at close range
while rifles cap at 90%
these are arbitrary things
chosen for balance
According to rainbow 6 shotguns are not 100% at close range.
arma is set in like the near future...
Where did you get that from....
have you played it?
Are you puffin some good shi?
arma can be a mish mash of everything really. the third one had space ships
which was weird
ARMA 3 takes place in the mid-2030s, on the islands of Altis and Stratis in the Aegean Sea,[5] and the South Pacific island of Tanoa. The islands feature photo-realistic terrain and water environments. Altis is the largest official terrain in the ARMA series with ground area covering approximately 270 square kilometres (100 sq mi). The smaller island, Stratis, expands over an area of 20 square kilometres (7.7 sq mi).[6]
2030 hmmmm
Yet it has almost no aspects that don't relate to modern day.
arma had funky controls. on topic though, the whole complex is not only deep underground but also potentially below water level. and there are things which would require finer manipulation
below ocean floor rather
that's because it is basically modern day with extra bits
the irl expedition did underwater drilling and went around 1300m deep
not entirely, around half of it is on land too. In our case however its more likely to be the very center, which is a lil bit offshore
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unmanned_ground_vehicle
this is modern tech
good luck fitting that anywhere in the complex
the place isnt a big empty hallway.
you're saying that they can do suspended animation
and they haven't kept pace with locomotion systems?
on things like vehicles
fallout had robots but computers didnt pass the dos. we dont even know if GTFO has robotics at all
I'm talking about neither right now, I'm talking about user operated drones
and their ability to navigate complex industrial enviroments
what if such thing dont exist in gtfo setting? outside world isnt defined and is part of the mystery. A single collapsed column with also put a swift end to your lil robo tank
if it doesnt get picked off the very moment it arrives
you send multiple and have recovery options, we've been over this
recovery from what, a waiting horde?
multiple =/= better either
youre cramping the place even more
why would a horde even always be there
why wouldnt they
that's probably a niche case
that's just begging random questions, it's not actually refuting my point
considering they can arrive at any point in 20 seconds a most
that's probably for game design reasons, since they arrive offscreen
and typically they only get agitated in a single subroom
I'm not pretending the drones won't be loud or even be able to navigate the spaces easy
but you can strap some serious weapons to them
Hosts can ignore getting their upper halves torn off
and get stuck after first 5
while the rest neatly rip you apart.
it takes them no issue with normal doors
it depends, it might not be good idea to gum up the treads
either way you can keep shooting?
theyre not really stupid either
yes they are
they dont just form a nice line for you
they know what bullets are though. they dodge. a mine and a gun pointed at you is a big difference
cfoam too
they don't sit and ambush you
you have a skidaddle of angry chittering things which can shred doors and shrug off fire
the big ones especially
bullrushers are even worse
ok, and you're thinking some heavy machine guns mounted on a moving platform can't stop that?
Pistols can stop that so far...
we already went through why heavy weaponry wont do good
hell what if you just made like a heavy chain shotgun shooting like 6 or 8 gauge buckshot with a wide cone
and why?
you haven't
literally as i explained?
theyre not humans who just buckle after a single shot. some fold, some just keep going on and on
theyre also not restricted to whakcing you with fists
and you think an oversized street sweeper won't manage that?
you can have a pair of legs actively ripping into you. you cant ignore it either
we have wildlife which can also pretty easily shrug off buckshot and gore you.
do you know what an elephant gun is?
