But by then the craze died off and gamers were stuck with the crazy prices
The 2070 launched at 599
That's insane
Yeah, it is. Really fucked up PC gaming for a bit
But now so many more people can enjoy top end gaming
It used to be console vs PC. Now people are fanboying over PC components lol
Nvidia vs AMD vs Intel
Fanboying over pc components has been around for longer than you think
I just want whatever is best for a reasonable price. Some people just stick to a single brand which I don't understand
I mean Fanboying if there's a big market for something, you'll have them
Yeah, you're right
It's kinda funny though, cause with the so called Console Wars; which basically don't even really exist anymore
But the Fanboys are still going at it
Yeah, now PC gaming is more affordable I think a lot of console gamers are moving over to PC
PC gaming can be affordable, like even I dunno 6 years ago? I would say it was more affordable then than now really just because of graphics cards going up in price for no reason
Though now, SSDs are super cheap
Where as then that wasn't the case
So you'd have to settle for a mechanical drive
Which I mean kinda didn't matter since the consoles were being built for mechanical drives as it is
Ah yeah, I remember spending the same amount for a 120gb SSD as I did buying a 1tb NVME ssd a month ago
Hard drives will slowly die out
Yeah most people probably just got a SSD as a boot drive and used a big hard drive for games
Yeah, that's what I did
But I wouldn't go with a hard drive any longer now that SSDs are so affordable
I need to get a second SSD
It's a good time to be a gamer, no matter what console or PC parts you use today
Yeah, I need to get another one too
I only have a 1TB Nvme atm
Well, and a 1TB HDD, but I want to replace that
Yeah I got an Intel 660p 1tb for my boot drive and whatever games I can put onto it, and a 2tb hard drive for everything else
The Intel 660p looks really good
I try to keep the ssd below 50% use though
Does keeping below 50% help the speed of it?
Yeah since it's TLC memory I think? It degrades in performance quicker as it fills up
Where as QLC I think it's called it isn't as drastic when it fills up
Ahh okay. I'll keep that in mind
Your Samsung drives use that kind of flash memory
I currently use a Spectrix s40G Nvme
I want to get something like this to go with it
Oh.. it's RGB
I heard those run hot
Yeah you gotta have it a fan blowing on it pretty much
I'll get some extra fans below it too soon
RGB fans of course
lmao
I've probably spent a lot with the extra cost of RGB
But I have the budget so I thought I'd try it this time
I need RGB to fill that void in my life
Can RGB replace my personality?
I hope so
Yesterday was actually the first time I've built a PC
It was a lot of fun
I've replaced parts before, but never built from scratch
Getting the cables into the right places and all connected was the only thing that took a bit of time
Other than that I was surprised how easy it was
I probably took like 20 minutes getting the CPU EPS power in cause there wasn't much room to move around in the top corner of the case. I cut my knuckles a bit on my tower heatsink
Damn, that's rough
I imagine that the difficulty of a build can really depend upon the case
It'll marginally affect difficulty I suppose
The CPU power cable routed around the back was just long enough to get in so I was working with very little cable
If it were longer maybe that wouldn't be the case
Ah yeah, I had that problem with one of the case fan cables. A real pain in the ass
It's your move AMD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soWh2VrXkKc
hello , is ryzen the fastesr gaming cpu in the market right now?
I saw a video where it said core i5 10600x is faster but i watched amd's reveal video where it showed it surpassed intel cpus
Can anyone comment on this
They're out in a couple days
But from alleged leaks, the 5600X is beating out even the 10700K at raw performance, but we've yet to see gaming benchmarks that aren't from AMD. Or at least I've yet to see gaming benchmarks not from AMD
Uh as it is, Intel's gaming lead wasn't a big deal anyway. Like even with last gen Ryzen it's like maybe a 5% lead on average at 1080p.
Literally no difference at 4k, and 3% or less at 1440p
Oh , thanks for the clarification
Will the Ryzen Series CUP's lower in price due to the new ones coming?
Damn

I will not get used PC parts
I'm a bit picky on that aspect
If something is wrong with the product and I bought it used I'm SoL
Hey all
my issue is the audio settings for the game are ignoring my pc setup, not gonna play a game with peoples voices blazing out my monitor and speakers instead of the headphones like they should be
Also my headset is the default communications device, my monitor/speakers are the default device as normal, and ingame it only showed me the mic i had plugged in (part of my headset) and thats it
All drivers are up to date, all audio channels working and have restarted the game a grand total of 5 times now to no effect
Any help would be appreciated as this is ruining a game that already looks cool from the menu (first time player)
Hm, that’s odd
I mean you could just lower the app volume in the win10 volume mixer as a last resort maybe?
And thats not a solution if the audio should be coming through my headset and it isnt then whats the point having the feature in the game
And ive gone over every setting
Ive even unistalled all audio drivers, restarted then reinstalled them
Still nothing, this is becoming worse the rainbow six siege
As i could hear the other players but even they said it was working fine for them
I dont want all audio through the headset, i want game audio through my monitor and speakers, voice chat through the headset like every other game
@light slate You could try going through all of your audio and choosing to disable the channels your not using in the advance audio setting's, also I know you did a compete reinstall of driver's but did you verify game on steam?
@pine lion already done that twice
As mentioned, could just be a bug 🤷🏻♂️ we got a few of those - small dev team, still in EA.
I’ll take a look at it
@dense wasp thanks
@abstract kite do you mean on my pc or the game?
Was wondering because i have my audio channels split, even have software just for that
Realtek HD audio manager, since it gives me more control
It’s probably just an oversight, we just implementing voip last release
🙂
So a whole new world of audio related bugs 😅😅
If i find any other issues where should i report them btw
Tencent are gamings equivalent of having a malevolent tumor
Like bethesda pre buyout they ruin whatever they touch
Ill be looking forward to a fix to this issue as i hear communication is key in this game
Hey Bethesda games just work okay?
@abstract kite thats a joke right?
Little lies, Stunning shows, people buy, money flows!
@abstract kite i remember playing the beta and day one for 76, suprised my pc survived it
@light slate You may just want to use discord for voice comms with whoever you're playing with and disable ingame VOIP
that should respect the voip/game audio split you want
Hm.
@abstract kite unfortunately im playing this as a solo in matchmaking as my group of friends usually wait to see if other members enjoy the game before trying it out
So i kind of need the audio to work out of the gate rather then whatever this mess os
How long has this game been in EA btw
So not all that long ago
yeah, and this is the first patch (as of a little bit ago) with matchmaking and in-game voice
Any idea why this got added in so late or was it due to how effective the discord server turned out to be/whatever this overtone app is
MM is difficult to implement
This thing
and is secondary to game design
MM wasn't like so important
I think the devs have said that the kind of matchmaking they want to implement when it is finalized is rather complex
LFG just worked really well, and yeah
I guess it'll have its own sort of MMR for it
i still prefer lfg over MM tbh.
Yeah
well, MM encompasses a much larger variety of player than LFG in here does
I haven't used MM, and I don't even know how to enable it in the lobby actually
LFG, you know who they are
I mean whatever works in the end, i just see it as a basic standard in games built around communication and teamwork, i mean hell even hunt showdown had it
also, this topic isnt really #pc-build-help-and-tech-talk
meh
@bright shard kind of devolved after a while, also this isn't reddit so does it matter
it's a closer fit to #gtfo-technical-support but it isn't trampling other conversation
You're right it's more appropriate for #gtfo-chat
Get the fuck out chat? Rude
it's actually a unique setup compared to what I'm used to
i get it, but unlike reddit, we can at least self moderate.
to take a game and try to isolate audio output of VOIP and In-game sounds
and output to two separate devices
Its one of the most commonly found features added in most MP games
That and NSFW chats
ah, I've played for a while and never heard of it but also never wanted to split where my audio comes from
regardless I get it, just trying to think
of a better fix
I may just have to try and find people through the discord but the timezones may be a bit whack
I never understood why people liked all audio coming from one source, as some games have beautiful sounds, so why ruin it with everything garbled together
The lfg chats are separated by region, so that shouldn't be an issue
@vapid crypt about that, i saw two European ones and for the life of me cant remember which i fall into, geography was never my strongest point
Western Europe is like uh France, Italy, technically UK. Eastern is I think most of the Slavic nations I think
You know what Geography is rather a weakpoint of mine too
Lol this world made no sense anyways
Someone found this : )
For those who don't know what Goodwill is, basically any shit you don't want, and can't bother to sell, it goes to Goodwill that has all kinds of stuff for much cheaper than what its retail would probably be
I mean
That guy achieved part one for low budget gaming
Now he's gotta get the rest
Now just wait for someone to turn in a graphics card
My 1060 3GB for 60$? 😳
Or even, 50$
Or 49.99$
Or 10$, that's the lowest I'll go
So Watchdogs Legion source code got leaked :)
They're saying it's 560GB compressed or something lol
But I don't believe it
I haven't seen what FPS I'm getting at completely maxing Titanfall 2 out on, but I must be getting around 200 fps because it's a lot smoother than 144 fps
The guy who posted link to 4chan post on discord told me it's compressed and is best compression, but I don't believe it
Bro, I'm still getting 30fps on high settings with a 2080ti on Watchdogs. It's unplayable
If Titanfall 2 on steam, turn on FPS counter in "in-game" settings in Steam settings
Or download MSI afterburner for FPS, enabling it in their settings for overlay, but it might be small as fuck to read it
I think I have MSI afterburner installed actually
Watchdogs has RTX right?
Yeah
But even MW2019 isn't that big lmao
It should be mostly raw
When you have MSI afterburner open, go to Settings ( gear icon, should be at a corner or whatever ), then go to the Monitoring tab after opening settings, and scroll down the list to "Framerate" and click on that to highlight. There should be a unchecked box saying "Show in On Screen Display" (OSD for short) and then click apply on the bottom of the settings @nimble anvil
Ah okay thanks. I'll turn it on
a 3080 can't get a steady 60fps on ultra unfortunately
Seriously?
For Watchdogs Legion
loler
3080 can't manage 60fps?
3080 can't on legion dum dum
That's disappointing.
tbf it isn't too superior on 1080p/1440p but better for 4K if that still applies iirc
Yeah I think that's where you get the biggest performance spike
That's where AMD comes in, delivering GPUs that perform like a beast on 1080p/1440p compared to NVIDIA competition
4K is hit, but that's not what they're really focusing on imo
I have a ryzen cpu, so pairs well
Like 4K is still just dumb, but reaching 60FPS ultra for a good amount of games is great for AMD
I don't have a 4k monitor T.T
I don't have a 1440p 144/240Hz IPS monitor
Think 240Hz one is like 700$ lol
Or that was G9?
idfk anymore lmfao
I have a 1080p 144hz monitor that I got like 3 years ago
I wish they made the G7 without that stupid fucking curve
And here's the kicker
I color calibrated it 3 months ago
After using it for 2 and a half years
Like holy fuck 1440p 240Hz is amazing
But on a curved ass monitor?
Like fr
I checked out the color calibration thing on my monitor, being 1440p 60Hz IPS by uhhhhhh
Viewsonic
That's another one I got earlier
I had the choice to go 1080p 144hz or 1440p 60Hz
I wanted both 1440p and 144hz, but uhhh
yeah
I didn't play too many games requiring more than 60Hz so I figured why not
I went with 144hz because I was mainly spending my time on CSGO at the time
But that ended quick
It's crazy how well the 1070TI still performs
And then a 3700X with 32GB DDR4-3200Mhz after the 7700K decided "yeah I'm going to ruin performance after 4 days of uptime, alright?
Or 2 days idk
I'm so glad I didn't upgrade to the 20 series
I was considering a 2080
But decided against it
I got my 2070 Super a little after release after I got my 1440p
Like maybe a year or half
I could have just gone with a 3600X, same GB of ram same speed, but with a better motherboard that could fucking OC mine to goddamn 3600Mhz cas15 or whatever
Gross a 2070 Super
But I bought the ASUS TUF X570 wifi cause it was a good board
But lol good board I can't oc my ram past 3333mhz
So ye
yeah it's perfectly fine on XMP
I wanted to OC it however so ye
I now have to get a monitor, CPU cooler, case, case fans, maybe a motherboard because shit OC
I just want fancy water cooling
I looked into AIO but I still think of having a bequiet silent rock pro 3 or whatever it's called
Shadow Rock 3
It's apparently a little less than a DRP4 cooling performance at like 190W TDP and is also found to be slightly taller than DRP4
But price is cool
50$, sort of half of the DRP4
Oh that's actually quite reasonable
Yeah
Getting that cooler though I do believe a new case is req
But if my side panel with its little uh
So this is my case
You can see that it bends out a bit
Yeah
So it could probably fit but my DRP4 was sorta close to it
Wait, that's the case I moved from yesterday lol
Hah
It's not bad tbh
Yeah
As long as you're not shoving 10 GPUs in
Been stuck with it for a good while though and I sorta wanna have a different designed case now because there's certainly a lot that looks nicer for a good price
Like Fractal Design Meshify C
Yeah. I just moved to a Lian Li Mesh II RGB
Really spacious
Incredibly easy to get around too
2 glass panels on each side which just swing open
The uh SAM is only for Zen 3 most likely
Yeah, it's more for Zen 3 iirc
I don't see why it couldn't be done on Zen 2 though
Since they're implying it's only for 500 chipsets
That's true ig
Line Us Secks Tips builds fastest gayming PC "for now" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHd7w2q74xI
Just realized my RAM was only running at 1300Mhz.
Forgot to enable AMP in the BIOS when I exchanged some parts.
That's DDR3 speeds.
oh my god
I've seen like a whole server uhhh rack thing
Organization was like fucking god tier
It’s so sexy the management
yesterday tried to watch an 8k video on YouTube and what you think ? My pc got stuck. 16gb ram, i9900kf....
Stuck as in?
Like got enormous lag. Started to freeze and things
Checked task manager, CPU was working at 100% lol
Never thought something like a video can make that CPU work at even 50% xD
I can watch 8K perfectly fine on my 3900x.
Well, idk, seems like my monster CPU atm is getting old xd
You game at 8k?
I feel you for the non standard corsair layout with custom keycaps
same boat
my set had some extras, they're not matching the buttons, but look better
@blazing vapor what kind of monitor do you have showing in the pic
@jade surge dual 27’s. Asus 144hz and elcheapo samsung
no I mean the small 7 in looking monitor
Tablet with gameglass for Star Citizen
@nimble anvil no no 1920x1080
They're taking the 3090 Chip, putting it on a 320-bit bus with 20gb of GDDR6X
So same bandwidth as the 3080
I'm just gonna get a 2080ti I don't want to wate for the 3070 to come out again
Or a 6700XT/6800XT
I'm gonna stick with nividia
I have in my pc right now a 980ti witch has lasted me many years
AMD more like not working drivers
I've used all three in the past and every time I tried AMD I had dumb amount of trouble for no apparent reason
ya radeon is not good
the new zen 3 is supposed to be good
my 3700x keeps idling at 50c and stupid voltage at default settings
because "boost technology"
why
I've switched from 4670k to 3700x because Intel is clowning rn
and next time I'm definitely going Intel + Nvidia again
it just works
I gonna go intel i9 14 core extreme and 2080ti
My 3700X is still on stock lol
3000 series is a meme
With stock cooler
Doing like 55-63c in game
Which ain't that bad
Haven't done an undervolt either so ye
my old 2.6ghz i5 is at like 70c in game
tbf it might be just my water block being too small for the behemoth of a CPU that's ryzen
but I don't think so
and I'm not really willing to drop $300 on an upgrade
to find out
"Behemoth of a cpu that is ryzen"
Huh?
IHS size
this is why i like intel
I'm stil gonna use intel
intel is clowning with 14nm+++++ rn
Yeah
Intel is just a joke with reusing the same 14nm bullshit that's literally the same CPU every year
if not for my old i5 dying I'd have no reason to upgrade for another 2-3 years
same with me
my build right now is a dying i5 a 980ti 16 gigs of 2800mgz ram a 1 teribite ssd and a 1 teribite hard drive
and a 650w power supply
meh that's still quite powerful
I don't see any reason to upgrade my 1080 in the foreseeable future
This is fuck your wallet day for many enthusiasts i feel like
I'm gonna be part of it lol
Maybe this is the place to ask
Whenever I turn on GTFO my pc gets super extra duper warm
Anyone knows what causes this?
Your PC just being a PC. Computers get warm under load.
You say it is within a matter of seconds. Have you checked the temperature in software to confirm that difference
And that it is specific to GTFO?
Like, I put my hand on my pc before starting GTFO
and then I compare it to a few seconds after starting GTFO
and it is a definitive difference.
You should check both against other games, as well as check the temperature difference in Software.
HWMonitor. Not perfect, all values can't be trusted, but it works for temperature.
Just as a example, it shows my 12V rail as 10V.
Which would be very bad, but it isn't showing a correct value
hwinfo64 > hwmonitor
Isn't as easy to check temps
wym lol
Its updated all the time
shows literally everything
and readings can be trusted unlike hwmonitor
Also you can open up the values you care about to these small windows. Makes life easy
Wait, so why do I need to know the EXACT temp?
I mean, it's definatly alot hotter than I feel it should be
And I just need to know maybe if I am using too high settings? Or if there's some unnecessary setting I may have checked?
I just checked the specs required, and it really doesn't feel like it should get that super hot...
even above 80 is fine, depending hardware and/or cooler types
if you're sitting above 80 constantly i'd get a better cooler
not healthy long term, but if you ignore the leg sauna it would function just fine
regardless, PC getting hot is normal on heavier games ^^
@rain basin Also what kind of components you have in your PC? Just curious since you describe it so dramatically lol
1080, Corsair PSU 600W, a pretty good CPU, a fresh motherboard, stuff like that
Don't remember all of it
that's not very informative
Don't remember how to check the components on windows 10
It's so over-the-top complicated.
the hwi_634.exe thing right?
yes
Should I check in Sensors-Only and/or Summary-only?
fx series make great smol grills
@rain basin Sensors only
Then you can right click any value and "show graph" so you dont have to search anything again
Okay, gimme a sec
So, just why I gave HWMonitor as the example software. To perform this procedure with HWMonitor, you download the software, open it, check temp, open GTFO, check temp. Checking temp is just a matter of scrolling down.
I have an MSI Z270 GAMING PRO (MS-7A59, i5-7600K CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080
And that's all the info I can find on this hwinfo thingie
So my question remains, why does my pc get so hot when I try running GTFO?
It's like my PC was running the thing that sends the prisoners down into the systems!
Is it like that for everyone?
Sounds like it's a PC that's sticked around at least for a couple years. Have you only just noticed?
What games did you play in the past?
you still didn't say how hot your temps get when GTFO is running though(hard to judge if that's normal'ish)
Aight then nvm
@sick reef with hwmonitor you dont even have to scroll down with graphs so its win win
You don't really have to do anything. Don't really need the accuracy, just need readings.
@rain basin Maybe your case is just terribly ventilated so it gets warm
whats the point of readings if they are not accurate
lol
I mean... sure there are parts that don't have holes, but I mean... every side have atleast a third of holes.
To estimate what comparative difference it makes.
no reason to use worse software
Except the back and front, who are all holes
It's easier to use, and the person you're addressing will actually be able to use it.
idk you just scroll down on hwinfo just like you do in hwmonitor
difference being info is better
Yeah, that could be step two, sure.
But you don't need accurate readings to see an issue.
Always adapt to the person receiving the help. Not them to you.
i unintalled hwmonitor because it was reporting my cpu at 5.8Ghz when boosting
Well better tell him to use proper software then. He surely can manage pressing 1 extra button to see sensor readings lmao
If you can't see the methodology behind it, or your own ability to do a basic assessment in a short amount of time, I can't help you.
Got a 5900x coming tomorrow. Hell yeah
lucky you! gz
Nice
I literally don't see anything listed
Other than the 5900X on Newegg which is unsurprisingly out of stock
I managed to get one from Scan
Let me check if pcpartpicker even has them listed
Looks like B&H is getting them in at some point
Or no they're just out
Some of these are just saying "coming soon"
3300X vibes
Yeah, apparently it was hard to get one from anywhere other than Scan
Overclockers UK completely crashed and people are getting mad
I get a £4.99 thermal paste, Far Cry 6 and strangely a mask with the order lmao
Uh I guess they'll be available for order later on here
I'm just curious how long it'll take for them to be gone
But if you got one, its looking better than the 3080 already huh?
I was speaking to someone who ordered 8 minutes past the release and apparently their order didn't go through because they sold out
Definitely lmao
the 3080 didn't even last a second
We'll see if they can roll out more stock in the coming weeks
I'm sure it won't take long. Are you planning on getting one?
No not this time
I'm planning to get either a cheap 3700X or 3900X depending, I would need a mobo upgrade for the latter so
Graphics card upgrade will be first though
I suppose that would be months down the line, so I could maybe justify a Zen 3 purchase I dunno
10900K is 5600X performance let's go
If that 10700k comes down to like I dunno $320 it wouldn't be a bad choice over the similarly priced 5600X I would say
Last I checked though you can't find a 10900K for less than $600 or at least barely less than that
So anyone buying that for gaming is mental now that something half the price is pretty much matching or beating it at that
The CS:Go numbers are mental its like 200FPS faster than Intel across the stack
In 2 years we might see 1k FPS in that game
Oh it looks like Ryzen went in stock at Best Buy
5950X sold out though
Hmm yeah looks like the 5600X is the only one
The 5600x still looks great for gaming
Sure, but I wouldn't bet on it for much longer
I think 6 cores are on their way out in the next couple of years
I could be completely wrong though, with high enough clocks it may not matter
Yeah I see they made the auto overclock OP
Upon reading more that PBO Fmax feature is only in that expensive ass asus board
but im sure it spreads to other models too
CS:GO comp player wet dream
change wet to gushing, then that statement will become even more accurate
I want to see league of legends performance hahaahha @vapid crypt
Im pretty sure they had some graph for big gains in that too
They said 21% for League
They weren't joking with the 19% IPC increase, like that's perfect scaling with Counter Strike
cool stuff overall. much better results than i was hoping at first
gotta yoink one after christmas maybe
Hm.
"oh the prebuilt isnt that bad!"
the prebuilt;
That's not a prebuilt smh
just a joke smh my head
Where's the crappy PSU
oh your right
And the shitty one fan
AMD is doing a giveaway of about 20(?) of their Ryzen 5000 and Radeon 6000 and like 200 hoodies lol
But where?
Well, all you have to do is comment on one of the listed streamer's livestream during the specified time of October 23 something through December whenever
I'll review em for my 2 viewers I promise
kek
6ghz LET'S FUCKING GO
5600x + rx 6800 mmmmm
Ah
Probably the normal 200$
But seeing that prices were raised, it could be 209 or 219$
5700X would be a little confusing cause of the 5700 XT
lol
Finally my dreams can come true
Ryzen 5700X with 5700XT
Or I could wait next gen, 6800X + 6800XT
Won't be AM4 though, wonder what AM5 will be like ig
AM5, DDR5, PCIE Gen 5
Yes
Some guy did a superchat saying derbauer patreons or supporters are getting 3090 for christmas
Hah
A chance to win or everyone is getting one?
Cause I think you're asking for a Christmas Miracle at that point
Moni
I should make a quote of $3200 CAD budget custom build comparing that dumb 10700kf prebuild with 2080 super
But lazy
Hm.
I love it, I'll take 2
3060, 3060 ti, 3050, 3050 ti
3040, 3040 Ti, 3030, 3030 Ti
Gt 2060
The possible budget option I heard is a 3050
Ti is also coming in
But idk much of it
Might not be a thing
local retailer with huge brains, maintaining stock
no wonder they still have 33 units
use integrated graphics lol
I bought a 2080ti to keep me going lol
@nimble anvil I did the same thing 375 euros was an amazing deal!
wow, that is a steal
Sapphire Pulse 👀
375 is a bargain. You might as well have taken his wallet
If its the same as last time, then it might be Gigabyte actually
Their cooler was one of the best all arounders for the 5700 cards
Though that's in terms of price performance
From the look of it, Sapphire isn't holding back for their pulse cooler
I failed to get my 5950 😭
:(
We'll get em next time
but you're getting a 3090
Saw this like a week ago when Youtube decided it'd be a good idea recommending me this
He wanted that play button so bad lmfao
it looks like GVGA from here
€V€A?
Close enough
no one cares about your box
Gotta figure out how to not have that line on the left side of G
That's a box of EVGA GFX cards. 2x 3090's and a 3080
Just finished installing the 3090 and getting some really nice FPS in GTFO now.
How'd doc get hands on 2 3090s and a 3080? That should be impossible smh
Probably got on a queue on EVGA's website
what were you getting in 1440p
I want a 1440p 144-240Hz 😔
Doc you spooked me, I thought the delivery man left it on the sidewalk.
How'd doc get hands on 2 3090s and a 3080? That should be impossible smh
@fleet canopy I'm friends with @astral wedge
more like ludvig
o:
I want the Samsung G9
okay
i was kidding
but since no reply
i have to assume that ludvig is the warden
I want the G7 but without the curve
Fuck the curve
Like sure, it's cool and all. But that's a REALLY sharp curve for the size imo
Would only be good for G9, ultrawide n all
@astral wedge might have some connections to "efficient shoppers"
hey guys new to gtfo may i ask a pc related question
im rocking a 2080 super, just had a few things open etc after a gaming session and gpu temp was going up 40-49 degrees..is that normal or?
That's a healthy temp, you're in the clear
As long as it doesn't go far too past 80 celsius, you're perfectly fine
Same goes for CPU
Wait is it going up by 40 degrees or was it at 40 degrees?
nono it was was up at 40 degrees
and it was up to 49 for a bit
the 49 is what im worries about when not under load i think it was idling for a bit i wasnt doing anything
just want to make sure 40-49 or 49 degrees is healthy etc
likei just hopped of a game of quake champs just now and the only open is discord and xbox companion appt and it was at 52 degrees its going back down to 48 degrees now but i mean is this all normal etc?
If it's not at upwards of 80 degrees or more there is pretty much no reason to worry about temps
Closer to 90 really, but still
odd thing i noticed though, i opened task manger and it spiked to 100 degrees for a split second then went back to normal...tf is going on? i also noticed it did this when i closed out chrome
whats the random spikes for for no reason..just a bit worried on that front is all..
Hm.
Probably a mistaken read from task manager
everything's fine when it happens no lag or black screen nothing..just spikes for some reason..man this is odd..i take it no one else has that issue or?
This alleged temperature spike is a consistent occurrence?
not at all
weird i guess im never looked at my task manager that close but thats odd..
Then don't worry about it, try using some other programs that can track temperatures like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner can do so as well through Riva tuner you can display that info as an overlay on a game that's running
i tracked it with task manager during gaming, no odd spikes at all during gaming
temps during gaming is 60-61 degrees sometimes lower just that odd spike
and this is like just a month to 2month brand new hardware here also..
Gross who has a 2080 Super nowadays
It is so weak
Look at the 3080
With its awe inspiring day 1 drivers
Gross the RTX 3000
At least I don't have a card that's too damn impossible to get hands on
Just buy a 6800XT smh
So no one else is having that random spiking issue when closing a program etc?
At least I don't have a card that's too damn impossible to get hands on
@fleet canopy I would tell you a RTX 3000 series joke, but you wouldn't get it.

Spiking all the way to 100 and going down to 40-60 near instantly again isn't realistically possible. Doesn't seem like a cause for concern imo
It includes taxes.
Congrats Nazo on the fresh purchase!
anyone have any ideal why it not letting me join a VC? it let me join on other discord servers but not here
No clue sorry mayo might know
idk who mayo is
probably discord having a stroke
lol
i did even restarted my computer and used both the app and web browser
news at 11
i got to working finally. had to log out and back in. weird i already did that n the web browser and it didnt work but it worked n the app. anyways thanks for the help
Anyone ever have the game keep opening on a different monitor? keeps opening on my secondary and not primary
nope opens on my main
I figured out a fix, thank you though. simple shift+window+right arrow key
nice
Nice.

nice

a
I'd love to upgrade to a 5900x... if it wasn't a $100+ upgrade from a 3900x.
I'm probably gonna pick up another RAM kit to double up and get a second NVME
I just really need a new mobo and monitor, a CPU would probably be something but unnecessary and pretty dumb upgrade atm
Why do you need a new motherboard?
Overclocking ram failed
Because every new CPU deserves a new MOBO not anothers
Kinda sucks that overclocking didn't really work, but w/e
I'll do it when there's Ryzen 6000 and all the AM5 stuff lmao
Maybe
Wait don't you have an X570 motherboard?
Asus TUF right? Aren't all that cracked up to be
kek
Not as tuf as I figured
It was 200$ tho so not exactly like the most expensive board anyway
Plus, I wanted to not spend a shitload on a CPU, RAM, and a board
Eh except now with B550 out and $139 boards doing better VRM wise
I think I got when B550 was a thing
And I heard something along the lines of "B550 don't exactly have the best VRMs"
TUF is there to make ROG look better
That's what I honestly believe
If I remember right they pretty much remove most overclock options from the TUF Bios
I can't join any VC on this server, no matter which one I click
I can do it in my other servers, though, so I can connect to other VCs, just not any room on this server
we did, I even restarted my computer for good measure, too :c
I have the same issue
#discord-announcements @mystic estuary @lunar scaffold
Finally got the 5900x installed. Was a pain in the ass since the board wouldn't recognise the chip since it wasn't up-to-date.
Thank you! I knew something was up when hubbs wasn't able to connect either.
Waiting on a game to download to test it out. Gonna try play Watchdogs Legion since my last CPU just didn't run the game well at all. Not even a steady 30fps
I haven't done any benches yet
You can use 3Dmark on steam
I'll try it out
They have a free demo which is all you need
Hopefully it doesn't blow up
lol
Hmm, my screen went black trying to launch it. RIP
At least it worked for a few hours
Now there's no video input lol
lol
Intel vs AMD demonstrated as an Anime fight
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awKXGfWr4Fg
Cooler?
It might be a little high, but compare it to clockspeeds first and check voltages
h100i RGB Platinum AIO
Is it brand new out of the box?
I think thermal paste is usually pre-applied on those right?
Did you use that, or replace it?
I used the paste already on it
That's probably fine then, see what the temps are under load
Yeah, I'll see. Hopefully it doesn't blow up
Uh it won't
If the idle temp was like 60 or something it would be cause for concern
40 is higher than you would expect typically, but it also depends on the ambient temperature
Uh I don't think that will change much
can a overheated graphics card cause gtfo to crash at the begining? it work for a week now all it does is crash. ive updated the graphics card and nothing
Is it overheating? Have you checked the temperature when its running a game?
Or even when it's idle
I want to say they quite literally stole an important scene arc from Naruto and just redrew it themselves so no copyright while putting it over shit music
70c is pretty good
no im gonna do that. such a awesome game but cant figure why its crashing. it dont crash on call of duty. ive uninstalled and reinstalled the game like 4 times
Nice. I guess it's working fine then
Yeah
That's probably what they did exactly, the animation was taken and he put the Intel and AMD stuff there
Yeah
You might get further with #gtfo-technical-support
The red body I think is Naruto, because I recognized the arm movements when he was doing a similar rasengan attack action
ahh ok thanks mate
Cause it might just be some kind of unique issue you're having
I know they've been hotfixing stuff so
It's such an unoriginal move to do lmao, especially with the most poorly chosen song
I wouldn't know, I gave up on Naruto after around 160 episodes of the original series
Hah
That's an estimate too so could be more or less
I read the entire series, and then watched the rest of the Naruto non shippuden one, which includes that fight
I'm pretty sure using DOOM's music over it, like a mix of two into one would have fit into the video more well lmao
But w/e lmao
Looks like the base animation was from a Chinese student https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekz-FY_MDGA
Any suggestions? Tips?
I know the ryzen 7 is overkill but I'm planning on this to last me through college
Hm.
I was going to say to get a 3600X and you got yourself a 2070 Super probably
Um I would say forget about the 2060 though
The case is a bit on the expensive side imo, but it's preference at this point tbh
6gb 192-bit bus, yeah that's on its way out
Wat about gpus?
There is 2x16GB RAM at the same speed for like 10-20$ cheaper I guess
Try to nab an RTX 3070 or wait for Radeon 6700/XT after checking reviews
3070m
If I were to cut the price down in this, I would get a much cheaper case; and honestly cheaper RAM. Forget about the RGB RAM. There's better spec'd RAM for less pretty much, and that's important for Ryzen
You can just get a 2x8GB kit instead
I wasn't planning on even using rgb, I just went with what had the best reviews
Tbf yeah
Going for 32Gb is good
I'm sticking with 32 gb
I got 16 last year cause it's all I needed but I'm gonna double up soon
https://discord.gg/GUdFuWaw looking for 2 for b1
oops wrong one
What resolution and refresh rate? @surreal stag
Uhh I haven't even picked a monitor yet, any recommendations that won't burn a hole in my debit card?
Okay let's uh figure out, what's your budget here?
Well, depends what resolution and refresh rate you want
1080p 144hz, the build is perfectly fine right off the bat. 1440p 144hz, you could get a 2070 Super kinda overpriced, so try to get an RTX 3070 if you can for 500-575$
I'm gonna grab a few cases at different price points that will be cheaper than that corsair one
The one he picked?
Yes
I want good airflow
I posted a corsair, pretty similar but half the price
Alot of "good" cases have bad airflow/one fan port
Well that's the thing limited fans is a cost saving strategy
Like the Meshify is good and I would recommend it; but you have to populate it with fans too to get the most out of it
Lian li lancool 2-x
It comes with 2 right?
For Mesh or lian li?
So like this one, it only comes with one fan https://pcpartpicker.com/product/crqBD3/phanteks-eclipse-p300a-mesh-atx-mid-tower-case-ph-ec300atg_bk01
What are your opinions on my gpu options like the 2060,?
Mesh comes with one front one back I think
But its 60 bucks, getting 2 fans with it isn't a big deal
Lian Li I only see 1 fan on back
The Arctic P12 PST is probably the best price/performance fan
What is it like 12 bucks per
yea
so you guys recommend the 2070 super?
If you could find one for $300 or less maybe
Yeah or if you can, get a 3070 for way more performance for 500-575$
Anything higher is just not worth it
Noted, does the motherboard check out?
The motherboard is an excellent pick
Good, the amount of research I poored into get a good motherboard is embarrassing
There is a cheaper option that basically has the same VRM from MSI, the A-Pro if you don't mind losing out on the RGB features
I think it also loses the 2.5gb LAN
I take my time to research but mobos are the most tough for me to figure out lmao
For me personally, it's gpus. It seems like the gpu market is so fucking flooded the only way for me to get a good one is to buy the latest one. Somehow they're a better deal but like 200$ more of a price tag
Atm I guess it's a lil bit fucked due to RTX 3000 and Radeon 6000 coming in
Yeah it's kind of a pain in the ass right now since everything "launched" this quarter
If you're fine with AMD, you can also go with their Radeon 6800 or 6800XT
But the stock is thin and will stay thin until next summer probably
Maybe next quarter at best
Stock will roll out
But the demand is super high
So you have to try and get em pretty much
Actually that comes December doesn't it
That'd be a whole month and possibly an extra half
Um Nvidia is allegedly launching a 3060Ti in December
And so is AMD, so idk lol
Which will probably be $400
AMD isn't launching a equivalent price point card until next quarter
It seems like a better graphics card releases each year that is more powerful and cheaper than the previous, so either way I'm fucked. I still don't know because little to no information is available about the 2060
What kind of information are you trying to know about it?
I could read performance graphs all day and still find nothing as to what I'm looking for. What is a good gpu I can get that isn't the latest newest thing
I try my best to look up decent deals on gpus and all I find is people making builds that max out CPUs and gpus and under cut everything else in the build
I mean, a CPU gets some significant increased importance in 1080p, so yeah
But if you're going for 1440p, not really that important except for games requiring a good CPU no matter the resolution
Yeah so at 1080p, like this resolution is starting to get to the point where fast CPU really help performance along
But there's pretty much no notable difference at say 4k
At that point the GPU is doing all the lifting for the most part
Yeah
CPU still needs to be fast enough though, if it's like a decade old the 1% lows are gonna be pretty bad
Yeah
Well maybe, part of me thinks a 2600K would still do okay at 4k
Even with how the CPUs are coming, it seems like getting the average FPS above what I want while having 1% or 0.01% whatever being as close to or higher than the monitor's refresh rate is still some stupid expensive pay I'd have to make
Not that it matters so much to me anymore so w/e
So what is the recommended resolution for a hardcore gamer like me who just wants to game and not worry about how shit looks
What are you playing?
1080p is still very very popular, but 1440p is starting to get more recognition from enthusiasts
I mean, a 2060 could do 1080p 144hz
For quite some time actually
Or you could look for a cheap 2070 Super ( 3070 alternative if you can actually get one of these ) for 1440p 144hz gaming
With the 2070 Super, you can reach 144hz fine with like medium high
3070 will just be able to do high graphics for 1440p 144hz since it's a 2080 Ti without the 384-bit bus
352-bit actually
They made the memory bus just wide enough for 11gb
Kinda like the 3080, how it's 320-bit so it's just wide enough for 10gb
It is yeah, it's pretty much the equivalent (though higher clockspeeds) of what the new consoles will be utilizing
Oh so you already have 3700X?
8 cores is pretty much gonna be baseline
8 cores is like the "Part with way more value for 10$ more" kinda thing
I don't have it, it's the cpu I'm going with so
So what you're saying is 4k and 1080p are basically in noticable, but drastically different prices
1080p is the cheapest of all
With Zen 3 the price equivalent is the 5600X, but it's a 6 core. It does have pretty similar multi-core performance and WAY faster single core performance so it will be doing better at single core tasks like gaming
4K is hugely fucking expensive and not worth it unless you're doing some fun ol 4K 60Hz gaming or you have 3000$ sitting around waiting to spend on the highest end parts to handle probably 4K 120
But I do think the 2 core deficit will show its age sooner rather than later
Yeah, maybe so
Especially considering how core clocks have been going on, they're getting higher over time each release
And since the new consoles are using Zen 2 8 cores, 8 cores is the way to go I think
Here I am thinking I'm big shit for upgrading from a 2 core to a 4 core 🤣
I'm still stuck in that Era sadly lol
And then 4 cores just continued to dominate until Ryzen came into the market
Where my poor gamer crew at
I mean if you're still playing games from then and not doing much else
I dunno man, I'm running red dead 2 on my i3 3210 and it runs nice
But I'd like more performance
You say that now, but if you had more cores to work with you will notice the difference for sure
Anyways, if you wanna have some cool sharp looking games with 144Hz, get a 1440p 144hz. If you want to go a bit cheaper on the build but still have 144hz, 1080p 144hz is good, and you can afford a PC about 1000$ to run that easily I guess
100% I just know that won't ever be happening any time soon for me
Maybe I'm a bit overexaggerating but eh
High refresh 1080p monitors are gonna run you like $150 - $180 maybe
High Refresh 1440p probably like I dunno $280 - $350
I got 1080p 60 hertz monitor for 6k pkr
Oh TN I guess would be cheaper
Anything 350$ and higher is like VA/IPS monitors
I have on wishlisted that's $330 IPS 165hz
330! That's awesome. It's like a few months of work here that
I was looking at monitors in 1440p 144hz, but I have a problem trying to choose whether VA or IPS would be good lol
Well I want to get it at some point, but I need the graphics card to justify it
VA and IPS is pretty identical in prices most of the time, but I heard some reviews on VA from officials like Hardware Unboxed reviewing VA monitors and saying about not great dark areas when gaming
And IPS I believe eliminated most of that problem
Hmm, with displays it really is all about what you find out there. You can find IPS panels worse than TNs and vice versa
I believe I heard somewhat of ghosting on VA
Just go to your shop and Chek
So with this knowledge, can you recommend a good monitor for it's price?
Preferably less than 250$
Bunch of ghosting on IPS too unless the refresh is high or you got some free sync going
It's borderline
1440p, 95Hz, Freesync IPS
If the refresh rate is a deal breaker then there's probably a good TN panel that's 144 or whatever for around the same price
Oh you know what it doesn't mention if it's Gsync compatible
Nevermind it does
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HBRzK8/aoc-c24g1-240-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-c24g1 Good cheap 1080p 144hz monitor at advertised 1ms and in TN. 150$ ish. Freesync
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/LXMwrH/acer-xfa240-bmjdpr-240-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-xfa240-bmjdpr Same specs as above but 200$ and can be found on for 170$. I think it's a better TN than the top one. Freesync/Gsync compact lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ZMPKHx/samsung-c24rg50-235-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-c24rg50 Same specs, big ass mount that's kinda ugly, in VA instead of TN. Freesync.
Just ignore that it's only freesync, all NVIDIA cards work with freesync
Or just don't use freesync cause lol
They're all 1080p 144hz
Much thanks.
