I'll take a sharper image any day, but I'm still using 1080p as it is
yea i like 1080p, feels about right
1440p is plenty sharp.
but let's say i want to run a 1440p monitor, would a 1080ti with a good enough CPU manage to run most games at 144 frames? Even by lowering grapich settings?
You can go sharper, but it gets redundant to the amount of frames it costs
Ye
1080Ti will run them quite admirably.
I would consider looking at its performance equivalent with their new architecture, the 2070 Super.
If you can find a reasonable 1080ti, that works well too. It'll certainly be cheaper
Super card principally makes me royally super mad.
As it should
ok last thing, i am aware that the multiple manifacturers have the same GPU, but which brand should i go for if i'd plan on a 1080ti?
or.. manifacturer should i say, not sure about the exact term
Make sure you buy a used 1080ti lol.
Beats me. ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking has a video on which PCB each card has.
And then which one of those has the best cooling solution can likely be found elsewhere.
Most of em are fine, but EVGA, MSI, Asus typically seem to have good cards. There's tiers to their qualities though, but a lot of the time you're paying for an overbuilt cooler
Yeah. As well as that you would prefer the FE PCB, but the 1080 TI has very few PCBs, so it's easy to distinguish from the video.
allright, thanks for your time and have a good one @sick reef @vapid crypt
You too, Zyr.
That's what you have to ask about, what the card was used for. There's a level of due diligence when it comes to getting used cards
Truthfulness is rare on ebay, all things considered. 200 bucks for a 1080ti falls into the too good to be true category. Unless it's an auction
Their "pre-owned" price is at 450
Yeah that's scary
So yeah a sub 200 1080ti was probably mined like crazy
yeah
I have a 1080ti that won't post at the office ๐
sad ๐ฆ
unused even.
but I got it for free so I'm not really complaining, just annoying that it makes the whole computer not boot at all

haha, so not ok
wtf are they listing the 1080ti for $1500 new?
everyone is listing new 1080tis for crazy
wat
for
...some reason
new 4790K's go for 500+, a product reputation goes a long way
Its brand new, they don't make it anymore. So we can charge whatever we want for it
I guess I'm a bit damaged since I've been getting them for free, but still. Damn
humble brag and all
or free may be un understatement
I may have payed with my soul for the last couple of game-dev years
@merry bay weird..
But they are stable, the ones we use in all our computers up till now
I had a 4790K that got sketchy after a few years
Itโs because they donโt make 1080tis anymore lol.
So the new prices rise up. Supply and demand
demand should be a lot lower with Turing out..
Actually supply and demand doesnโt work here Iโm an idiot
1080Tis are in kindof a niche
People who buy 1080tis just buy em used now
I think used they are around 400~ which is pretty good
yes
I've heard of people getting them for less than that, but rare exceptions aren't really the rule
callback to the $195 1080"Ti"
Iโm sure people have. But the average I think is around 400.
1080ti for 200$ when
Uh this dude I watch on youtube got one for less than 400, at least less than 400 in USD cause he's a canadian
Turns out the seller is trying to get rid of a massive stock from a mining operation though so its kinda of iffy
Mining BIOS
The one he got came with a busted fan, and would artifact
So it technically ended up costing more, but he did get a 1070ti for 70 bucks by mistake so
It was supposed to be a 570, but he got a 1070ti.
I'm looking forward to start using my 2080ti .. ๐
im looking forward to rundown 2 ๐
Same
So... I downloaded Adrenalin 20.2.1 Drivers for my Radeon 5700XT the other day and am basically stuck watching YouTube only. The Drivers do not like Disney+, while watching a video it just blank screens. I cannot watch Crunchy Roll for the same reason....
I think I may DDU back to the 20.1.3 drivers, this shit is getting old.
Did you turn off hardware acceleration?
Is there any decent budget 1440p 144hz monitors w/ freesync ๐ค
How much are you thinking?
whatever gets me a good monitor ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
I might be getting 150$ soon so theres that plus whatever I can spend to cover the rest
Check outlet sites out
All settings regarding those have been shut off. The only thing I have on is the GPU Limitation of FPS
https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX2758-2KP-MHD-Frameless-FreeSync-DisplayPort/dp/B07VJJXDBX This one ticks all the boxes on top of having an IPS panel. That admittedly raises the price though. For TN there's this guy https://www.amazon.com/GFT27DB-27-Inch-Monitor-Speakers-FreeSync/dp/B07NBM6KYH
What a true one
The white viotek is cheaper than the black one
Is this white power
TN > IPS don't @ me
no >:(
And I think that one's good for the price whenever its in stock
TN has higher refresh rate on average
I mean technically sure if we're talking absurd 240hz
yes
But 144 is across the board now, response times are tighter now. Imo I don't care for high refresh rates anyway. Like I've said before I'll take better colors, sharper images any day
OK well your opinion is wrong, so are you and you smell. i win the argument /s

TN is generally cheaper for the same refresh as expensive IPS monitors
Have you ever used an IPS panel?
yeah, my mum has one
Men use crt monitors to game
i use a reel to reel projector
There are use cases for IPS and TN but definitely IPS are getting a lot better these days. But still playing a premium for it
Are there any resources for understanding GTFO video settings and advanced video settings? Trying to learn about things like "max framerate queue" and what it does.
...1500$ for that POS?
Technically vr already is about the number of USB ports
@patent token Do you know if your water cooler came with AM4 mounting brackets?
How to ez undervolt overclock my radeon vii or whatever it is
pichu lookin a$$
@eternal cairn it did yes
Thoughts on this? Ignore the peripherals
@stark plover it may be nice to overclock sure, but makes certain computer parts go bad in a quicker rate then it normally would if used a lot. so basically, I do not bother trying to overclock so i can make my computer last longer
@abstract kite yes i know that my good sir, but i also know that radeon gpu's tend to like the undervolt stuff and perform better because stock setting is really high voltage it doesnt need
I see, there should be a certain specific software for your computer that will help you do it easily, I know that one came with my computer
Theres the auto undervolt stuff but I figure I could get better settings if I do it myself
@vapid folio what country is that?
i would skip shit like AIO and cut some corners with peripherals to buy a better GPU
ah, I'm thinking about getting a Louqe Ghost S1
I really want to build a high performance mini formfactor for some reason..
@dense wasp Someone has been looking bit too much at optimum tech's videos... ๐
haha, I JUST watched one
I've been into that case for a while though, they are Swedish etc etc
but I mean, a 3950x, with a Fractal Design Celsius s24, and then a 2080ti, just a tad downclocked.
would be sweeet ๐
definitely not
3700x is just a lower bin 3800x, and that sure as hell doesn't bottleneck 2080ti
I hope it won't bottleneck the 3080ti either
depending on the price, I might skip the 2000 series
my 3700x kicks ass
nothing like 5 seconds full c++ rebuilds
I've got a 1060 3gb, need a newer gpu and my build is set
If you're willing to get a flagship GPU, get a flagship CPU alongside it. 3900X or 3950X
I got that covered already. Waiting for those new cards now๐
After a long time
Its been diagnosed
Irreparable motherboard
So, do i get the same one as before
Or a better one
What was it again? I recall it being a Gigabyte board, but not specifically what it was
Hmm B450 isn't likely gonna have the BIOS updated to support 3600
Either X570 or one of the MSI MAX boards
@rancid kindle I second what @vapid crypt suggested. MSI MAX boards are great.
MSI MAX = ๐
I just built my first pc, and i'm already itching to make a console killer...
I want to get a 5700xt, but I also think I want to watercool someday, which card should I get? I the founders edition for block support?
The reference model does make it easy to just slap an EK waterblock on it. Powercolor with EK did make a Liquid Devil, but tbh its like 599. You could go up a GPU tier if you're fine with air cooling as it is in that case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCZ5vOiVKj4 There's a review of it though
If you're getting a block for custom loop, don't go expensive on it. get Alphacool, EK, or what ever is best, put their regular block on it.
Don't need a backplate as it'd make literal degrees of difference for the cost of better fans that would improve it more.
@quick light Please save yourself the trouble and do not get the 5700XT
Yeah donโt
Great card, but drivers suck absolute ass
Drivers are no good
2070 Super is pretty good option, delivers a bit more performance, has the option of Ray trace if you like it I guess, and the best value card from Nvidia
For 2000 series ofc
I am getting a 2070 Super for my Dads Rig
Game with a side of Maya, Blender, the works.
Maya?
Its like Blender
He already has those @fleet canopy
Just upgrading the PC itself.. His old build was somehow running a 1050 without a case fan.
I'm not sure whether I should be horrified or impressed
I mean
I can't believe he was without case fans
But it's impressive he was able to run it
He asked me if we could just put the 2070 in there. That is horrifying.
OH NO
OH NO
Not having chassis fans isn't the absolute worse thing though, but say having no fans on a radiator or heatsink now that's not gonna work
And a 1050 is a pretty low power card as it is so
I believe there are models that are passively cooled with just a heatsink, and only draw power from PCI-e
there's a couple
has to be under 75w cards though
iirc that's the wattage for pci-e power
I've seen a video of someone putting together a fanless PC nothing a little undervolting and a massive heatsink can't solve
Here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDnvVZ2C64s
I mean like a better monitor, maybe one with better color, or maybe higher Hz since you are getting him 2070S
From what I can tell he does have a CPU Heatsink, very old i7 processor, with a 500w PSU and a 1050. I don't understand how it's running with no case fans.
How it doesn't overheat the world may never know.
One of my friends asked if he can put a 2070 in his old family PC so he can do heavy gaming
Dude was running windows Vista on an old athlon
me, plugging a titan rtx into my commodore 64
I heard Intel is having a come back with a new CPU...?
mayyyyyybe with laptops, but it's too early to even begin comparing
14nm 10 core coming at somepoint ye
14nm
basically their next desktop flagship is just 9900K with 2 extra cores slapped on it + improved boost clocks
and it will run hotter than a 9900K because it's the same thing just more packed
most likely yes
10 cores at 5.1ghz allegedly according to leaked benchmarks beats the 3900X... I mean that kind of makes sense then you realize that fucking thing is easily drawing close to if not more than 300w
meanwhile 3900X is chuggin' 140-150W
Game performance won't be that much better comparing clock to clock to the 9900k, multasking and rendering will improve cause 4 more threads... I'm guessing since its beating the 3900x in Cinebench and what not they're gonna try to price it at around the same price point. Yeah Comet Lake isn't very impressive, its what Coffee Lake should have been in the first place. Hyperthreading across the entire stack, and presumably competitive pricing.
It will be like 599 - 659 burger tokens on release ๐ฎ
๐คฃ
Burger Tokens
๐
Shit can I earn burger tokens by playing Ski ball?
ofc
Now I'm just imagining being able to redeem Chuck E Cheese Tickets for an Intel Processor
๐ฎ also says that it will be released way before zen3 to make it somewhat appealing
They'll have like 2 or 3 months to flex on the 3900x, only to find out the 4800x will absolutely smash the 10900k while being $200 less. I'm assuming they're planning to up the core count as a response, but that's just my guess.
thats HEDT tho
20% improvement over TWO xeon plats for 1/5th of the price
yeah but im just saying
intel is getting shit on through both sides of the coin
Yea benefits of chiplet design really shows when you start slapping them under that gigantic TR heatspreader
Laptops are starting to look really good from AMD, as far as regular consumer market that's kinda the last hold for Intel
good luck trying to match it with monolithic design
next up: 128 core TR
haha
can't wait for 20 years in the future when 512 core is entry level
they can relax for some time now and wait until software catches up a little bit
I dunno I think they'll slow down on upping the core counts for a little
those were jokes >:v
well they have doubled the core count almost every year so its not far from reality
lol
But you seem so serious
You could say that was the ultimate combo
Ok boys
I know the basic stuff. But where should i put the case fans?
Bc there's already a solid 4 from what i see
(One on the other side too)
๐
Do i need thermal paste for this
Ooo it came with a little needle full of thermal paste
Ok so
well technically you dont need thermal paste, it just depends if you want to fry a cpu or not lol
towards front or bottom for intake, so the exhaust runs to your exhaust fans
Watercooling levels: 3000 IQ
Yeah that's fine, that's actually the only way you can position it with AM4
they are annoying
maybe
check your mobo instructions
sometimes it's 2 and 4
that's a tomohawk max right?
Yup
yeah, def. 2 and 4
I want to say MSI is always 2 and 4
Uh well sure if you want to test everything first
You can put in the graphics card and plug in power
Then turning on the motherboard requires shorting the power pins with something, like a screwdriver
Hang on
Are the Standoffs in the case?
Hm
I can't tell from the image earlier
Yeah
You know what I'm referring to right?
You can watch a video, if youโd like
Those boys right
Oh okay they're black standoffs
They should be in the correct location for ATX
But yeah its worth doing a test run to make sure there's no issue hardware wise, that way you don't have to remove stuff from the case later on if there is a problem
๐
Quick question guys: I am building a PC and will be getting my GPU in the beginning of next month, but I have every other component. I also have lower quality GPUs such as a 720 or 980. Would it be a good idea to but one of those in the PC to be able to put applications on the PC such as Windows 10 Pro, Steam, Chrome... ECT than put in the new GPU when I get it?
I mean you can
it's the same amount of time either way
ig getting steam on it would be okay
then you can just plug and play
(plus drivers obv)
Yep
I mean, it's what I'd do, I'd want to be gaming sooner rather than later
So just better to do it all now and when the new one gets here its just plugin, download drivers, done.
yeah, I'd think so
Also to make sure the components work.
The first few months of building a new PC is the most stressful.
A few months to build a pc, hm
Oi do i use 6-32 hexagon screw, 6-32 screw flat, or kb 5*10 screws to put my motherboard in the standoffs
๐
shut up i took it off :(
Also kind of blinding lol
Yooo!
Woo!
Only got 4 tho. All 4 corners?
Congrats on the PC Glass!
Yeah all 4 corners
Anyone enjoy server components? My server rack arrived and I'm putting it together.
who doesnt
Yeah
Ngl boss I'm excited to see that done
D0c showing his home makes me question the "D0c is bot" theroy ๐ค
D0c will be attempting to stream crysis
Not with those specs, he wonโt
Can your PC handle Crisis?
This thing is massive
Heโll need 4x RTX Quadro 8000, two 22-core CPUs, and 640GB of RAM just to even run 720p
@void perch How tall is it?
As tall as the Eiffel Tower
There's a stark lack of RGB in your PC Glass
the RGB is hidden ๐ต๏ธ
Are Gee Bee Bee
the ram is by the cpu cooler
@abstract kite
The hell is going on with all those cables
3.5/5 I wonder why
It took 20 years to actually get the charger working, nice
I need to buy a new one lmao
In the corner of my living room
Do you know how much heat it's going to produce?
Actually curious.
The corner my security camera watches
Makes sense
Itโll be hot enough to heat his house
No need to turn on the heat anymore, cutting back on the heat bill ezpz
Cheapest heater tbh
This is my current rack
Except maybe my 7700K
bro is that your 1070
I basically ran out of space
It's still nice tho
Those waterbottles for liquid cooling?
Honestly I'd love to get something like that running in my room
Haha
Will do bears
Where does my ssd go
Its a regular sata one right?
@rancid kindle
if it is a gum stick/m.2 ssd, look for a little black bar that's jutting out
it's beneath your ram sticks
Gum Stick
directly to the right of your cpu block in the picture though
You missed a few screws for the motherboard
Hmm are you sure, might be the wrong screws then
If its 4 it might be for screwing in the power supply
Hm
I have no idea what screws come with that case, so
My case came with more than was necessary I think
With the exception for some things, but as far as for the motherboard
Wonderful i tried putting in another one
Its stuck in
If i unscrew counterclockwise it click and stays in
๐
Huh?
Try lightly pushing It in and unscrewing it
Uhhh
Bruh
Maybe I should have told you to test the threading on the standoff
Kek
Yeah the larger threading is not for the motherboard standoff
However I was mistaken that's not for a fan, that's for something else. Probably for the power supply
๐
Is that a server in the works?
This is gonna look goooooooooood
Yeah it's stuck stuck
It's a server rack @granite basin
lmao you made your alt your dog
Do i just
that's so cute
aww
I WAS SUMMNED
my dog is my account
Thats fair
Yeah I made an alt for my pet human
my dog has 3 legs
If you can't remove the screw, just leave it. It will be an issue if wanted to reuse the case with a new motherboard though
FYI I'll continue the build tomorrow so no more pics tonight
cool
It's a 20 core, 192 GB of RAM. Going to host my websites, bots, media server, and 2 databases
That's fun
imagine not buying a threadripper :(
Me too, I would do it just for fun
I'd be like Linus and just juggle the motherboard, the graphics card, and the drives.
I'm gonna be getting the parts for a new computer soon :0
after all this time too, I'm excited
What parts are those? ๐
Linus can't juggle, he'll drop everything after the first rotation
True. LUL
That would be a sight to behold though, juggling CPUs. And they're AMD CPUs, so you risk bending the pins at any time
It would be hilarious just seeing people's live reactions.
1660 super, ryzen 5, 16 gigs of RAM 2terrabytes of hdd storage, 250 gig ssd 550 watt power supply. What's even better is that I'm buying some of the parts slightly used from my brother which toned the price out to about 658 dollars
Ehhh... used parts.
Sick deal
It's 2 months old mobo and CPU @eternal cairn
Unless you know how long ago your brother acquired the parts he's giving you.
I have no fear at all
Oh, okay then.
Even if it was 2 years old, a motherboard and a cpu isn't gonna go bad
^
They can though.
I still would have said yes even if it was a year old
Sure they can, but if its being sold you know... I would hope otherwise
If it doesn't work he would just keep them and I'd pay a bit more for new parts
I just like getting stuff brand new since it comes with a warranty.
(Sometimes.)
But it's also because I like being the one to pull off the shrinkwrap, bubble wrap, plastic wrap, etc. first.
Haha he's gonna repackage everything for me so I get the experience
Everything comes with a warranty, how long depends on the company. Like Arctic has a 10 year warranty for their fans... though tbh with something as cheap as fans I wouldn't be too fussed just buying a new one
A "re-unboxing" experience.
I'm just so excited cause I'll be able to play games at 60 fps for once
I would if I bought 4 or 5 of the same brand fans and they all went out at the same time, @vapid crypt.
It isn't juggling, but I love this image from TechYESCity
My current computer is a dual core and a 2 gig gpu
I remember getting my prebuilt after upgrading from a semi-performant laptop.
Nowadays, people just talk about 144 and 240 FPS.
My monitor is 60fps and I'm not that concerned with upgrading it any time soon
144FPS has become more normal and easier to reach, with GPUs being able to do 1080p144hz for cheaper
Plus itโs a nice bonus from the 60Hz monitors
While I might get a new monitor, it's unlikely I'll try to run 1440p, the decrease in performance even if it's small would kill me psychologically
It is @vapid crypt
Down
Only 1440p 60Hz, Yeah
1080p 144Hz is fair
Once games start needing a bit more Vram, the age will show
I wouldn't say that, even a 580 could run 1440p for a suitable life time
Talking future games of course
Yeah, games are really becoming more demanding
I would say yes and no, I've noticed alot more optimization aswell
Just today, I read on an article that apparently Ryzen 3600 was reaching 85% on some pretty CPU demanding games on some? Sounds pretty stupid though
And yeah maybe I should get a 1440p monitor to run with my 580, it should do fine since I mean... the newest game I've played came out like a year ago
That's poor optimization though.
I read it from an article lmao
What games?
I honesty didnโt believe it too much
Like Battlefield 5 or something?
It must have been games that were really CPU dependent
There are billions of articles on the internet. LOL At least a third of them are unreliable, half-true, or total bullshit.
That game uses 12 threads apparently, granted how much of each thread I dunno
Maybe it's a CPU culling factor.
It used popular games from now, so ehh
It didn't list the games?
I didnโt see
I still fail to see why people like rtx in games
Because it's new.
RTX is pretty cool looking
Thatโs all there is to it
Itโs really sort of a major advancement in graphics
Its only new so far as a specific method of ray tracing
Itโs a really neat feature tbh
Otherwise ray tracing on its own has been a thing for a long time, the implementation for what you would expect is a bit weird though
Yeah, itโs been in like Pixar animations if I remember right
You've seen the Battlefield 5 stuff with the reflections and what not, good lord
The fire looks like absolute shit in those renders
So, ray-tracing is basically the equivalent of the resurgence of VR?
But videogames werenโt really doing it, more likely because it was hard to do without a GPU to handle all that shit
See I'm all for rtx but just don't waste money thinking you'll play a bunch of games that actually incorporate it yet
"Here's a beautiful reflection, and also the worst rendered fire ever."
Haha
Looked like a fire from the ps2 era
3D animated movies probably take like 400 GPUs to render each cutscene.
People can make a short blender animation in a day with a 2080 Ti
Also framerates are gonna be lower
Multiply that by uhhh
I'd imagine they use psuedo super computers, but don't quote me on that
Too many
Movies are 24hz usually?
Yeah so for modern gaming, the tech isn't quite there
But it was back then.
Its almost there though
Itโs alright, but it really needs improvement
Well I mean like as far as modern expectations right
Just has to be optimized more
Now film producers probably use some insane level of GPU processing power.
I bet if you compared The Incredibles to The Incredibles 2, you'd notice a difference in terms of the graphics.
Never got the chance to see Incredibles 2
The one with the baby?
My point is that the technology these movie companies have now is way better than back then.
Uh
Can't find where to put ut
I think that's for a light strip
Pff
Yeah, I doubt itโd be consumer graphics card
Might be like graphics card you canโt buy as a consumer, but an animation studio you can
@rancid kindle
Huh?
Where are all your cables?
Case fan it seems
Oh, okay just put it in a case fan header on the motherboard
Sys_fan, and yeah it works
I don't remember if you get rpm control, maybe or maybe not.
๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Full Speed
Gotta go fast!
Over 9000 RPM
Actually that reminds me of this video I got recommended
Itโs over 9000
Of a 3d printed fan that spins at up to 16000 rpm
Oh?
My fan almost cut my finger off at 1500 RPM.
Its actually 3 fans, a 3 blade, a 9 blade and a 30 blade
*thinks about what he can do with a 16000 RPM fan* ๐
Which was the loudest?
Still no clue where the ssd should go
There's a tray on the shroud at the bottom of the case, there should be some mounting points on the back
The 3D printed makes it seem nice for a light green build lmao
If you wanted to skip ahead, the 30 blade fan sounds like a jet engine and it immediately flies off and breaks after like 15 seconds
I don't think that would work, maybe 2 blades. Like a plane propeller
Yeah I know haha
3 blades should be a minimum for all
Youโll get nothing much out of 2
@rancid kindle See that, you can mount the ssd there.
RGB SSDs run fucking hot for who the hell knows why
Alternate location
Ah
Is the PSU placed correctly? Donโt have the fan blocked haha
Bruh
And yeah you gotta get the Sata power to it from the power supply, and then the data cable to the motherboard
The only concern for me is the PSU
Its correct if the label is positioned that way
Mmk
The fan is facing down right Rice?
I've honestly never used one of those things
I'm tryna figure out
How to keep my PSU in place
Its got these circular holes
Maybe the screws i used on my mobo
Ugh
You're supposed to screw it from the rear
Like the back side of the case
Did the power supply come with screws, I had one that did
It's supposed to be four M3x8mm roughly
With hexagon heads, with philips cross in the middle.
And yeah, motherboard uses same size screw
i am beyond thrilled
only took me like 2 years but i finally have a computer that doesn't take 5 minutes to boot
SSD is the trick.
my PC is probably entry level compared to top gaming rigs but like
holy shit
it is such an improvement over the intel-rocking 1050 craptop i have
LUL
$1500 for an i5/GTX 1050 laptop, btw
Dafuq?
advertised as VR ready
Seems resonable
That is barely VR ready.
Hey the 1050 Can be used for VR
it ISN'T vr ready
the thing refused to accept my rift S
steamvr compat check denied it
even with afterburner at full
Hm
Seriously if you are gonna buy a $1500 Laptop you can build a high-end rig for the same price or cheaper.
@abstract kite no like
it literally refused to run vr
the oculus rift s will not connect to it
Laptop anything sucks compared to desktop
Laptops are generally awful for VR gaming anyway.
Well I am in the hole better stick with it.
The Laptop should be able to run just fine.

the drivers are probably beyond fubar
Just because a 1050 is in it, doesn't mean it'll probably run the same.
Guys
Integrated graphics suck.
Read what I said before that
Well I am in the hole better stick with it.
@abstract kite
There's pins for a pump fan and pins for a system fan what's the diff?
what
Pump fan is for AIO water cooling.
System fan is case fans I believe
Like My Comments previously are now stupid. I might as well keep digging the hole
System fan is your generic fan.
Could i plug a system fan into pump fan?
Mmm you could
I mean, why would you?
Wouldnโt recommend
^
Just connect your fans to your power supply.
The next system fan is a bit lower
Use a MOBEX cable.
Not good idea, they donโt give equal benefit pretty much
Good night!
gn
I...think im done
Should i plug in and try turning on?
Oh the case fans
If i put them on the top they face in right?
Oh wait
Nvm
Out
Those are all spinning
Theres a red light on tho
Ok it's on boot
What do i do
I didn't hook up a monitor or anything. I'll do that in the morning
Does Boot have anything to do with that
The first initial boot on Ryzen systems takes a little while
Ah ok
You'll want to plug up a monitor to see if it's actually POSTing
So it all seems good then?
Don't know since you haven't seen if it's getting into the bios
๐
But mechanically, I guess?
That'll wait until morning
(I broke my last pc trying to put in a cooler idek how, just looking for a little satisfaction here)
๐
Now everything else will be able to be done tomorrow
Ok its 1am im goin to bed
Rest well!
Tyty
Ty all of you for helping btw. Once again I'll say it, I'm glad i joined this server
Unfortunately I haven't been assisting much with the build progress
lol
Again, you have the support of everyone here! ๐
Not I
Huh

Wot u mean
Anyone using this Monitor? https://www.asus.com/Monitors/TUF-GAMING-VG249Q/
I found this new Monitor from ASUS and it's very cheap for a IPS panel i would sya
*say
I'm literally about to buy that in a few weeks
lol
It's the same as my current monitor, just a newer revision, higher refresh rate, and different panel
I'll let you know how it is when I get it
Whoa, monitors have really gone down in price.
@fleet canopy AUD
@fleet canopy I've got 3x Corsair 120mm off screen
@fading compass Australia
2, actually
JS gamers MSI Optix MAG241C is top tier
holy nice deal
what is the best 144hz monitors to use
my friend just give me his GTX 1080ti but my monitors is 60hz full HD
That one mentioned ain't bad, 1440 high refresh works well for that card.
am being using this monitors with 1080ti like for good 3 month now
So I hear MHW is having problems with 5700XT Drivers. Oh my.
GPU's are fine
yeah i'm referring to the drivers
Drivers and software of a technical miracle of non-functional.
amd makes really good gpus
Well yeah they can only get better, they just need to actually put effort into their software
Like their hardware is brilliant, that's much is obvious. But their software, and particularly Radeon is just really lacking
AMD Does make great Cards, but whoever is in charge of the Firmware Updates needs to be publicly shamed.
i have a amd gpu currently
other than the fact i havent done a driver update in like
years
its good
Oh uh okay
I haven't had many driver issues personally outside of weird black screens sometimes, and Nioh not working. But those have since been fixed apparently. Though the black screen issue seems to be a thing for 5700 cards I guess
Black, Green and sometimes Blue Screens! We're getting all colors of the spectrum.
Oh well I remember color errors on early drivers in 2019 when the new cards came out
That's a weird issue to crop back up
novideo has no driver issues :D
Well not right now anyway
It is recommended to keep those drivers old, until they create stable one's.
So, the update before the end of the service life.
Or do a Windows and fuck up the entire OS with the last update before end of service life.
Like they did to win 7
The Most Stable Drivers Imo are the 19.12.1
@sick reef that was the point iirc.
These new AMD users...
You are supposed to use the oldest possible driver because it has aged the most
FineWineTM
No, it's almost never the point.
As they had given options to people to get a longer service life.
it was their point
But if it tested, on the other hand.
they wanted people to upgrade
That I very much doubt.
so they fucked win7
It's not in their interest if they are supposed to still support the product regardless.
And the probably still have to fix it.
Otherwise I'd see it as likely as well.
But more likely is negligence.
They didn't properly test it, most likely.
In all fairness, people had a lot of time to get used to Windows 8/10.
Don't know why people still use Windows 7. ๐ค
Maybe because win 7 wouldn't forget settings after updates, break as often or have as many obscure issues.
If my chipset had drivers for win7 I'd still use it.
Funny thing, I had the most issues with 19.12.1
Same @vapid crypt
Like even if Nioh worked on it, for whatever reason the driver would just crash when running that game. I went as far back as 19.5.2 I think and it still crashed. That game just hates old drivers or something, or maybe it just hates my card with old drivers I dunno
Had RE2R randomly crash the drivers on 12.1 iirc
Though that's where the problems mostly end, black screen with Binding of Isaac and Minecraft sometimes
๐ท
@median moon if they intentionally fucked win7 they would pretty much be apple with their older phones... which has consequences
Ok so which cable
Should i use
What's that one in the photo btw
Just hdmi it?
Although there's no dsub spot on the pc
Idk what that one is lmao
Depends on what you are plugging in ;)
HDMI usually doesnโt get you over 60hz for instance
DisplayPort, the one you are holding, does
HDMI 2.0 which is typically what's used now gets you up to 120hz
Ok well I'm using that cord
From the 1st photo
Also, what are the perks of activating windows
Other than customizing background
No Watermark, and customize options
And you can set a background, just right click an image and set as desktop background
Ok so
I downloaded windows on a usb
Plugged it in to the pc
Do i just hook up the monitor
@vapid crypt my old ass computer at home wouldnโt know ๐
Post?
Where are you plugging it in?
Graphics card
Any error lights on the motherboard?
None
Should be next to the ATX port, the 24 pin
Make sure the monitor is on the correct output
Yep
Display Port, HDMI etc
And you've tried with both cables, hmmm
This is why you test run outside of the full system
๐
Oi it works now
I moved it to my brothers room
Set up windows and all
Downloading drivers now
I've done it boys
Neat
Oooo, it does look dope
This is gigantic. And you're tiny
That looks so clean
