ye
They're too cheap to give us 12
I took the whole 20 gig vram lightly, but I am hoping for a more efficient card
Best case it has 12, and anything above that will have a bit more. Probably 16
also wanted something with less of a fancy heatsink and fan since im water cooling
seems like a waste to just strip a card that has all kinds of fancy shit on it
motherfucker
ok so
there's an orange light on the inside of the rift and it's not registering my displayport
facebook i HATE you
Damn you Mark Zuckerberg, you water sipping android!
my rift setup did this thing where it wouldn't see that my sensors weren't plugged in
If I wanted to play it, I had to unplug it and plug it back in
Try a different port on your GPU. Sometimes makes a difference.
think glass was using a laptop
I just restart the software.
Go to Task Manager and end all tasks related to OVR.
Then launch the Oculus app again and put on the headset.
didn't work
New best air cooler on the block apparently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GYVjV6qqPM
ugh, fucking hell
i want to punch everyone who said they set up the rift s in 15 minutes
all blasphemy
It took me more like 20 minutes to set mine up.
Now I'm just afraid of unplugging it.
I've set up and taken down my rift so many fuckin times
I unplug my rift every time I use it because it’s hdmi and one of my monitors on my desk is only hdmi it’s a struggle but I never had to go reset it up
There have been times where I take my PC and VR setup to a friend's house so we can all do stupid shit
Ah, yeah that I’m not gonna do
Or just move my stuff to one of the living rooms because my room too small
Want to get rid of my bed and just have the matress on the ground so there's one less thing for me to smack
Do none of you use the Guardian setup? 🤦
It’s Garbo
It is.
But I still set it up every time.
Only because it does work until you take the headset off. LUL
I use guardian, it's just ass sometimes
As do I
I disable the grid
Keep the lines on the floor
Shit gets annoying when I'm tryna grab something in boneworks
plays vrchat like a degenerate
LUL
Sorry I meant mirror simulator
There ya go.
If only avatar testing in Unity was actually 100% the same as testing in VRChat.
Why though?
I got an ASUS and a Samsung monitor.
I have one of them basic ass hp monitors
LOL
And a real nice MSI curved monitor
I broke my very high end msi monitors, and replaced it with a decent aoc monitor
What's the point of a curved monitor? To take up less space?
Wouldn't it just make games look skewed though?
It's better for single player games rather than fps
For when you take in the scenery and shit
Ima go for a 240hz monitor soon tm
Imagine having a monitor with a curve that's almost the same as the UI skewing in GTFO. LMAO
Imma buy two more monitors and I'm gucci
Then you can tell people you work at NASA. At least that's what people told me when they saw my plebby 2-monitor setup.
Lol
We have some people with quad setups at work
Sadly, I can't fit another monitor on my desk.
tfw you dont even have room for more than one monitor
Is 240hz worth it?
How big are your desks?
Should i?
Fps game ye
No.
A microscopic edge.
Or in re2 when more frames means more dps from a knife
If you can't already counteract fast enough in 60 frames a second, there's no way you'll react fast enough no matter how many extra frames you have.
is a gm overwatch player who is a Weeb main
🤢 Overwatch.
We out here playing Minecraft
plat 1 on seige
I play After Effects.
Meh, I mean honestly overwatch isn’t that bad.
Overwatch is too mainstream and cartoonish.
O fuck I gotta cancel my adobe trial
Bruh, just use AMT Painter.
Noe
Yes.
Stick it to Adobe and their greedy conglomerate.
I found cracked versions of the Adobe products
They all use the same crack. LUL
But I'm downloading it all on a VM before I put my actual mschine
is playing on only 144hz 1080p monitor
has 2080 super and ryzen 3800x
should really look into either 1444p monitors or 4K ones instead of 240hz
Resolution beats FPS in my opinion.
Anything above 144hz is negligible, even in competitive gaming.
My 2080 gets around 80-90fps in bl3 1440p
D:
Was surprised to see improvement when I swapped from 2700x to a 3950x
Your 2080 is in a laptop correct?
Okay
Wait, what's BL3?
Borderlands 3
It's a very unoptimized game
Yeah no that game is hard to run
I thought people were saying it was the opposite of that.
Ohhh, it was ported by Epic?
I had an i5-6500 for a while
I thought it had a dedicated port.
epic bad
I remember when I tried playing it with a fucking ryzen 5 1400 and a 1060
I did not have a good time
If there's one thing Epic's good for, it's breaking the barrier of console exclusivity.
It forces them background processes
yeah but
Molested my poor little i5
That's all they're good for.
they're promoting marketplace exclusivity
Platform exclusivity > marketplace exclusivity
I just liked unreal engine from it
can't imagine trying to run bl3 on my laptop i5/1050
Plus, you can just pirate stuff from Epic's store.
the entire month of september summed up
Yarrr
yo ho ho
And a bottle o
My 8 cores aren’t getting molested either now
Imma run bl3 on my athlon
I was gonna get a 3950x but I was like meh
Athlon?
Save some money
Same, Spirit.
I almost wimped out but I already had the high end board for it
I'm happy with my 3900x.
If imma splurge why not splurge everywhere
I’m happy with my 3800x
And sell your apartment.
I'm thinking of getting one.
I’m using a stock cooler
I use the cores for virtual machines
Shits not good
However, I found out I screwed my fans on the wrong way.
Lmao
90c on idle
Bruh, that stock cooler for the 3900x sucks ass trying to get it on.
And it barely cools off my processor.
@eternal cairn I was struggling as well
Interjecting
I was going to use the stock cooler from the 2700x on the 3950x
For a full hour just to meet temps I’m not at all happy with
Decided that's not a good idea
I'm considering getting a 240 mm AIO.
Same
Nahhhh
Cooler master has one
$60ish
I'm using one as a temporary one and my shit didn't get toasty after running time spy
My only concern is that one guy who said his started leaking randomly.
Flex seal before installing
Chris Hanson
Ah.
@eternal cairn if your cooler starts leaking randomly, just get one of these
How many others were complaining, @quick turtle?
Chunky boi
Nooo
this post was sponsored by the air cooling gang
Ewwww
Fuck yo air coolers!
Jk I can’t talk I’m using a stock cooler
I hate using the stock cooler, but it's all I have. 😦
My old AIO only fits on an Intel motherboard.
is now scared of aios
And the brand is "Asetek".
Dude
So I can't find any mounting brackets from them.
almost all AIOs use asetek pumps
only ones that dont to my knowledge are cooler master and the corsair platinum
any other cooler
no matter the bran
*brand
will have an asetek pump
Anyway, if anyone wants my working AIO, I'll sell it for a measly $20.
Lol
Are those RGB strips?
Is it normal for SVT/IOMMU to require an increase in dram voltage? <.<
Rgb cabling yuh
Any increase in voltage doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
@quick turtle not trying to further scare you, but I would have lost my graphics card if I had not vertically mounted it at the time of the leak
All the coolant fell right onto the extension for the vertical bracket
i had to increase my dram voltage by .01v to boot with SVT/IOMMU turned on <.< otherwise it wouldn't boot
visibly shaking but has warranty’s on everything
You've scared the young lad senseless, @abstract kite!
<.<
Quit trying to convert people!
So what you're trying to say is
Speaking from experience... AIOs are fine if you do your homework
I should shove a fuck ton of paper towels in my system
^^^
they are superior to air cooling IF you pick the right one and mount it properly and use the proper paste
And make sure your fans are facing the right way.
ALWAYS make sure the air flow is moving in the right direction
AIOs aren't for everyone, and they're a hit or miss really.
If you get one that works, sweet! looks clean in the system.
If you get one that leaks, well, good luck.
@finite sentinel can homework save bad craftsmanship even if it's from a reputable company?
Lets say
Corsair
Yeah, I placed all of my fans in backwards. LMAO
or NZXT
You can always pre-test it
Air was blowing out the front and coming in from the top and back.
Leaks dont always appear immediately though
my system ran for one month straight
perfectly fine
then I had issues with it
My old AIO never leaked.
Which was it bearz?
Corsair Platinum
Ew, the $120+ one.
which platinum? :p
dual?
sounds like the H100
I wanna invest in more RAM sticks.
I read bad things about that one
From what I heard, it was fine
I have so much ram I really dont need
Guess we had different sources
Maybe at the time
Maybe I'll wait another month for my YouTube allowance.
32 gbs
I chose the Seidon 240m and ran with it for uh...
Just two sticks
6-8years
Interesting
my memory sucks on when i got it
That's what I want, Spirit.
and it's STILL a top water cooler
just doesn't fit AM4
Or use mineral oil.
I'd totally use my seidon if i could =/
mineral oil would stress the pump and burn it out faster
3600mhz 32gbs 2x16gb
imma just throw my pc into a mini fridge
you'd need an engineered liquid
@quick turtle what latency?
I forget who but someone linked me a video about overclocking my dram
the video overclocked voltage to 1.5
16-16-16-36
Decent timings
Too expensive.
sounds like what I have
I can already tell it's too expensive.
what brand?
overclocking my voltage to 1.5v for a 5% performance boost is NOT worth it
wear it down way too fast
^
the brand sounds like gskill trident
This whenever someone tells me running my 3700x at 85C is fine
G.skill
More voltage always = bad.
the trident z neo
nice
Z neo is 16-19-19-39 iirc
well @abstract kite 3700x is still within tdp... but it's stressful for sure
I was going to go with g.skill but I went with corsair instead because it was cheaper at the time
@finite sentinel I can adjust the tdp and make it a 3800x lul
There are multiple editions of the Z Neo :p
Just dont choose to
I was gifted the RGB G.Skill Trident ones.
the RGB Trident Z Neo has multiple CL editions, 16-16-16-32 is one of them
The sticks are pretty though.
Ahh that's regular RGB
Even though I'm not a fan of RGB.
Bungee?
the timings on my sticks are 16-18-18-36
Same.
Removes cable drag
don't know why amazon rates it different but o well
but it can OC to 14-16-16-32
Oooh.
LUL
but I like the responsiveness of wired mice
I have a g703
I need to get a new second monitor
Never have to worry about cables
My Yamakasi died on me
Wireless mice are heeeaaavyyyy
They're nay for me.
route the mouse cable properly and you don't gotta worry
and heavier mice isn't a bad thing
dawg
again, mount it properly and it won't drag :p
I have
I still have the mouse that came with my prebuilt. LUL
taped to the desk
i have it set up so my cable doesn't drag against the desk
LOL taped to the desk...
G703 feels like a wired mouse no latency at all
baaaaaaka
wack
You're not understanding but that's okay
the mouse is routed through it's cable routing
no no you're saying the weight of the cable going from desk to PC is causing drag
i understand
Not everyone has dual mounts lol
My arm holding my vertical monitor just made another creak
so that solution isnt viable for most
i have my mouse cable routed so there is excess cable
^ same
and no gravity dragging
@patent token throw the whole arm away
Jk
tighten it :p
LOL
turns out it was fine, then I proceeded to lose a few screws
universities throwing things away? I've seen some that still have Apple2s
eh screws can be replaced
lmao we just threw away a fuck ton of precision desktops
especially if it's an M12 or M8
and like 400 monitors a few months ago
Schools are dumb.
Precision POS
Our school doesn't fix the computers; they just throw them away if they can't get an IT guy to fix it.
wish my work would do that
I've been considering going back to school
Don't.
I dunno i think i need to reboot my brain with DMT first
we constantly give staff older hardware
Higher education is a lie and partial scam.
@eternal cairn it would be enrichment my friend
<.<
kinda funny, I had to reimage like 40 optiplex 780s to staff thinking they were going to get fancy new machines
Just tell me I'm paying you simply "because".
@eternal cairn remind me its a scam when I'm dealing with cyberattacks against banks after college 🤔
^
Vocational schools are the scams
I meant the GE part was a scam.
but real universities are fine
Hence why I said "partial" scam.
most two year degrees are a joke yea
GE is a scam.
bachelors and higher I can justify however
You can't prove otherwise.
When i say enrichment i mean elective type things
languages
it would be cool to learn latin
And i've been meaning to learn python
I learned latin in middle school
Everything regarding GE is just existential and has no evidence that it actually has any positive benefit to the main focuses of a person's life.
just go buy one
it is but it's versatile
so that's a plus
Versatile how?
It's basically the root of many languages
I can make a game with it if i wanted
Mater - mother in latin
Madre - mother in spanish
Mere - mother in french
you lying fuck
LUL
mater is that dude from cars
If I want to learn Latin, I'll do it on my own time.
I'd rather not be forced to learn it or something else.
only in the words we have borrowed from other languages
Wait my 2am brain isnt kicking in
yes
fun fact, I need to get ready for work in 5 hours but I kinda forgot that most tea's have caffeine in them
we have latin influence
I will admit though, a lot of cool ominous names and phrases come from Latin.
^
unus annus :p
Dominus Tempus = Lord of Time
sounds like some BDSM thing
Keep it sfw
unus annus = one year
Uh yea, anyone know why turning on SVT/IOMMU would require me to boost my dram voltage to post? -_-
Hi! I would like to ask quetion about Choosing the right VGA for my PC Build
@eternal cairn really the only place for this conversation?
🤷
@kindred fiber ask away!
yeesh who calls it vga anymore
i'm considering a Asus Rog Strix 2016 vs a Zotac 2060.Only gaming
You called AMD AMD/ATI before mina 😛
true
I actually have a question regarding this:
real gamers still game on matrox cards
stop remembering things
Hehehehe
Why is it saying all of my cores are at 2193.59 mhz?
Zotac is a lot cheaper,should i choose Zotac /
zotac has made some pretty good cards
@kindred fiber Can I suggest an EVGA card?
Zotav 2060 Twin Fan
Anyway, you'll see large increases in price across cards... there's no reason for a rog strix as it's the same thing as a cheaper card of theirs but overclocked
the AMP lineup is pretty good
Oh there's AMP here too
i hear about the EVGA
get an RTX titan
they make very good VGA
only gotta sell a leg or two
rog strix is selling you a name
yes
Anyway, you'll see large increases in price across cards... there's no reason for a rog strix as it's the same thing as a cheaper card of theirs but overclocked
@finite sentinel
this is true. You're getting a custom PCB with the Asus to my knowledge, but you're also paying for Asus ROG name. I can't say for sure what you get with Zotac.
@kindred fiber
I don't like the looks of my strix card
Yea rog strix is basically the same thing as a similar base clock card but OCd and customized to look cooler and perhaps have marginally better cooling
I'll go asus motherboards personally because i like the BIOS ui, but nothing else in my system will probably ever be asus
I went with ASUS because it was cheaper.
just buy the cheap base model of the clock you want then rig it with your own cooling <.< WATER COOLING!
And it had the ports I wanted.
I try to keep everything msi/corsair
i have a rog swift... but not for the name, it actually IS quality
only because thats the stuff I have already
Actually, that's unironic, @abstract kite.
tho the quality is marked up 200 bucks because of said name
it's like... monitor 1 step down from this is 350-400 bucks... then this is 600
Sorry, I just get OCD when people use "ironic" in the wrong sense. 😅
of course i paid 400 for this cause... deals
can't argue with a good deal
But you said you would go for ASUS motherboards.
My father taught me the art of the deal... i could swindle Trump any day of the week :p
I buy things cheep, sell them normal price
@eternal cairn And I do, but I also said
but nothing else in my system will probably ever be asus
Hence you would go for something ASUS, which means that having an ASUS monitor is not as unexpected.
mostly because people in my area tend to not know what they're selling
I'll drop this for @kindred fiber https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-3067-KR
someone was selling a 2019 macbook pro for $300
Thats a good 2060s
almost got it
I like my x570 ASUS Prime Pro.
limited ports on it htough
gigabyte aorus pro wifi x570
tks for the link
asus is the odd one out of the bunch in my rig
gonna take a look at it
@eternal cairn I have a ROG Crosshair VIII Hero cos I intend on getting a higher up 4000 cpu or 3950X in the future
Sen if you can afford the XC you should get it instead of SC btw
otherwise I woulda gone for a TUF
price is a factor though
Oh was that the SC I posted?
i got x570 msi godlike
OH NO
price went down by $100
wrong card
LUL
honest mistake but if his budget can't afford the XC the SC will suffice
I got ASUS monitor and motherboard.
@kindred fiber ignore other link. https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-3162-KR
this one better
Now I just need to ditch my Toshiba HDD.
agreed
Toshiba sucks ass.
rip my old toshiba laptop with a 2nd gen i3
i'm using the base model evga 2070 because it was the only one with a fking HDMI port
played league and minecraft, thats bout it
Toshiba memory sucks.
Did you know an HDMI to DisplayPort converter is insanely expensive?
I was looking at an evga card because of the simple design
@finite sentinel rip offs really. its a shame
agreed
giant rip offs
the other 2070s have no hdmi?
I will probably upgrade from the 2070 after next gen of cards
my 2070 has an hdmi
I had the xc black for the 2070 before I upgraded to the 2080
actually, hdmi to dp is pretty hecking cheap
well back then there were few choices
I'm hopefully upgrading this generation since I'm still using my 1070
dvi to dp (active) is a whole other fuckin rip off
I need moar juice for hashcat :3
ah yes that's what i meant
Anyway, I need to get back to finishing this video, so I'll probably be back in 30 minutes.
DVI to DP Active is what i meant yea
Yeah my 2070 doesnt have dvi
DVIs getting old 😄
it's fine for 1440p
leave dvi alone, its trying its best
outdated but not obsolete, especially with people still using 1080p
there's no reason to push DP on people
yeah my old 144hz had DVI
the majority of people STILL USE 1080p
yes there is @finite sentinel and you have just talked about why
fun thing is
yo soy
yea it's not on them but it SHOULD BE
beautifull i guess
Not really
i use 1080p on my TV...
I use comcast on my tv
DP wasn't on most monitors til like 2016
and even then 1080p has zero need for DP
thiqq and like 720p
I still dont have a need to go to 1440p just yet, but my next upgrade (setup) will definitely incorporate those
imo 1440p << 1080p 144hz
ye
yep
I'm still on 60hz 🤣
1440p 165 tho... that's nice :p
Next monitor will be 1080p 144hz
Sad thing? I have 2 144hz monitors but one of them only has DVI and hdmi which means no 144hz on it 😦
my new one has DP tho 😎
my hp monitor shit itself then hp decided to send me a better one instead of replacing it with the same model
i recommend going 1440p60 over 1080p144
the quality increase is greater and less performance problems
For competitive I need the 144hz
oh ok
Depends on what games, really.
screw monitors
i got best of both worlds
Luckey 😦
buy that samsung wall
not lucky, thrifty
😛
i got an open box product and RMAd it
Witcher, skyrim, story rpg stuff? 1440p60 is great.
Overwatch, r6s, csgo, etc.? 1080p144!
bam new product
That's sick ngl
I think i'm gonna take this monitor.it's really cheap, and it's from Samsung. Can annyone gimme some review on this one ?
it's just 210$
Model: Samsung LC24RG50FQEXXV 24″ FHD 144Hz
my friend actually just bought one of those
paying for a name
Give me one second
let me check that
If you want a cheap good 144hz monitor mine at home is top tier
i forget what its called
@abstract kite can you gimme the name
is that 1080p?
sceptre?
FHD yes
I'm not getting much on this monitor
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075D1B4SV i recommend this one
unless you want 1440p
Maybe silly but is curved good for gaming ?
I really cant notice a difference
don't go out of your way for a curved monitor
It just happened to be discounted to 200 bucks so i bought it
^
why not though
Idk it doesnt really matter unless the monitor is big longe
it's no real point
if you have a 1 monitor setup with one of those super ultra wide samsungs
the one i linked is an extremely good buy
buy like 10 curved monitors to create a border around you
make it all once screen
long
@finite sentinel i'm checking your link.Tks
but also expensive
woshling is that UWHD?
My favorite are LG,Samsung,Acer
i dont buy purely off looks but i also dont wanna buy a garbage dump
MSI is gamery but from the front its just thin bezels and stuff
poor brightness though 😦
rtings is a very good site for analyzing monitors
@finite sentinel tks for the link
@abstract kite yeah i gone through some MSI monitors but you can adjust the brightness. So it's gonna be a good one
Sadly max brightness is still kinda poopy though
i didnt really notice apart from a few dark games
but those just up the brightness 😄
VA or IPS.That's what i'm looking for
the viewsonic is VA
TN blind my eyes lol
the site can elaborate
If anyone knows other sites that actually do in depth analysis of monitors can link for him to cross reference
woshling here's a contradiction "Wide View Angle" "Anti-Glare"
the anti-glare coating makes the view angle terrible
I love them wide angels
edited before you said that :p
But I will admit
i havent had a single screen tear thing
freesync worked with my 2070 on it
nice
I hate the stand that the optix comes with
also it has one of those OSD joysticks
never realized how great those are
@patent token why
Having a dual monitor mount makes things so much easier
Not really?
yes really
Nah
takes like twice the amount of space my old one did
heh
I just don't like how it spreads the legs so far out
Well, i'm a streamer so i've got more shit cluttering the desk
got an HDMI hub, my scarlet solo, my microphone mount my camera mount
Damn hub isn't strong enough, need more throughput
streaming is expensive -_-
i don't recommend it
I don't have enough internet for streaming
yea that's expensive too
I want fiber
we just got fiber installed to our server rooms at work
but the people who did it were lazy as heck
eat them fiber one bars
it's fiberific
how???? yeesh
wish I could do that
or dozed at least
I can't even sleep in BED
I've been up to long haha
last monday I went to work running of 1 hour of sleep
had a monster and uncrustable for breakfast
I'll save myself a faceplant into my keyboard and go to sleep
I cant function without hibernating for a bit
straight vibin
nn
see yah
cannot see what it is but I have a good guess from the title
i hate that the gifs sometimes don't post properly
i think it's coding issue in discord :p
yea
nope
they borked
i think unless it ends in .gif it won't work
i mean if it's listed in the gif button it should fking work ya know? XD
maybe its disabled for this server
The 860 evo??
Nah, thats top tier stuff lol!
you can always toss in ANOTHER but dont replace the 860 evo its great
i'm using Samsung 860 EVO 500GB for more than 1 year. It's really good.So far no issue.
the ram could be improved
also is that speccy software? it's crap
cannot read most information even properly
nvidia 1080 with 4gb? Hello 32bit
You system seems pretty good
Besides some of the info being wrong on whatever software you're using
lolwut
Why is speccy showing 4GB when it's 8GB?
This is what I bought.
At least dxdiag is working correctly.
Nice
Also yeah, it's speccy. @brisk badger
I'm open to what other programs I can use to show off stuff simiilar to speccy.
Here's the RAM I am using. x 4
I'll take suggestions for a RAM upgrade.
Lmao that's fine
32 gigs is plenty of headroom
Unless you're doin intensive tasks
I did the same thing
4x16 sticks of ddr4 3200 Corsair dominator platinum rgb
Hasn't let me down yet
I planned on doing a lot of VMs with my system
Why I opted for a 3950x and a lot of memory
why
“I planned on doing a lot of VMs with my system”
I mostly wanted to tinker with old games in old Windows OS.
We out here gaming on windows me
I've been using Win98 for most of my old gaming stuff.
fix it then
Tell dell no
Dell is not so with the shits
Since I learned about it, Dell will always be that company that took discount chips from Intel as long as they didn't get any from AMD. Funny seeing a lot of their computers with Ryzen now, but it was shitty that Intel did that; and Dell was complacent.
Dam
Last week I outprocessed like 100 thin clients
Someone lost the file saying which ones are going to be sent out
Hate these mini hp computers
Just curious, how many of you are giong to jumpship from intel and nvidia to full AMD when they start releasing their CPUs and GPUs this year?
Ditched intel when first gen of ryzens came out. Probably sticking with Nvidia until AMD has serious high end card
My current rig was built in 2015 and it's still going strong. I only recently upgraded my GTX980 Ti to a RTX2080 Ti. The GTX 980Ti is still reliable and strong.
Not even comparable
I'm actually looking forward to AMD when they start releasing 4k capable GPUs
AMD 1080Ti competitor 2020
something on par with RTX 2080 Ti
jokes aside i would be happy to see high end card from them
One the things I'm not liking about Nvidia is their G-sync tech
Wall of white names i love it!
Thing i dont like about Nvidia is their pricing😙
Gsync cost more than freesync on a similar monitor model
price difference can get rediculous
Got my 2080 when it was brand new 870e
was hoping to get Ti before launch
Jensen pulls the card out under his leather jacket "1299e!" "the more you buy the more you save"
fuuuck that
The monopoly is real
orange name
hopefully it gets better with next generations. Rtx being the new meme feature to milk people probably raised the price alot.
haha
oi uh, anyone have any idea why i can't hear people on the discord channels when I'm playing this?
because you have voice set to 0
like in discord
have you tried testing your voice settings on discord?
Everything just works. Spend 1200 now, don't spend 1200 later.
What to do?
In the corner there it says you're launching the Beta, GTFO Beta is down now. The game is on Early Access
the more i'm doing my researches, and the more it seems like the 2080ti is just a cashgrab compared to 1080ti, what do you guys think?
Unless you are streaming i guess
from what i've got, FPS wise, it's like a 25% boost for triple the price, of course that can change from game to game, i'd like to hear opinions from somebody who understands GPU more than me, basically most people in this chat
It's a cashgrab, but it's not triple the price.
1080 Ti was the same.
1200 euro to the 1080 with 800-900.
Okay, both Core Temp and CPU-Z are saying that my core speed is at 2195 MHz. How do I fix that?
If you're a dev or nerd enough to mess around with RTX there's value there too.
If 1080ti fps seem attractive for you, it's still a great choice.
It's just enough for most games to edge out 60fps@4k with medium+ settings(as long as your CPU keeps up)
There's often hardly enough value to justify the percentual price increase.
But to some, price doesn't matter.
thanks for the replies!
25% more performance for a 70% price hike is literally the 2080ti compared to the 1080ti
Yeah, I'm sticking with my 1070 until prices dip down.
Disregarding frame timings, obviously.
It's not worth the upgrade at that price when I only run 1080p60.
But yeah, if you have a decent card, waiting is your best option right now
yeea i do have a 960, nothing too fancy, but i wanted to move to 144fps (and i wouldn't mind using low graphics, keep that in mind, i'm quite used to it)
that's why i was doing my researches on 1080 and 2080
144 in what?
Oh boy Rust
I think the even the 5700XT could do shit tier 144Hz.
Why Rust though?
I'm not familiar with how that game runs
Likely, because he plays it.
I just know its not optimized well
Unless you're in one of those 10k resource battleground servers, I don't see a point in that FPS.
Cause it's the worse example in terms of optimization i can think of
If you're using a 960 now, what's your CPU?
144Hz is achieveable with a lot, if you're willing to lower settings and resolutions.
You don't have to set the bar higher than you want to jump, with a new GPU.
I can get 140 - 160 in RE2R just lowering the image quality to 80% with my 580
Absolute low settings causes it to downclock and it runs like shit at that point, actually worse
Image quality? Is that downscaling, or is it the only setting availabe?
Resolution downscaling, that is.
I think its something like that, that's what the setting is called
What other settings are there?
It doesn't look much worse than 100% either
Aye.
Bunch of post processing effects, shadows and the like
I almost always set shadows to medium.
And a 580 I think is equalient in fps specifically to a 1060, around.
@El Demonio#9598 i3-6100, it's a fairly old rig
Don't keep track of the supers as they mean jack shit.
Yeah that'll bottleneck a better gpu then
No not a ton, depends on the game
Depenss on background processes.
Uh I mean I wouldn't recommend that
That was my initial tought
A cheap 8700K would be a good option.
I might find out the same as 2080ti, cashgrab
Not as much of one.
Still need to research it tbh
You have to go X series to find cashgrabs
New GPUs are coming out later in the year, 2080ti is not a good buy as it is. But right now its probably the worst time to get one
2060, 2060S, 1660S, 1660, 1550S. Around that, what ever is cheapest, would be feasible.
Which, if I remember performance correctly, is why the 5700XT is also suitable.
And which cpu would go well with a 1080ti? Main goal is gaming
Doesn't fully matter what CPU.
If its newer than a 7700k, and has more cores then its fine
Just to avoid bottleneck basically
I7 for intel is preferred, but you are talking about negligeable differences, disregarding bottlenecks.
8700K would be great, if found cheap.
This goes across the board for any platform
Due to the 8-series architecture.
I might scrap the 2080ti + i9 option tbh, it seems overkill
Cause that's what i tought for my new rig at the start
Thanks for your time
It is overkill. If you want value, there are a lot of options right now, both CPU as GPU.
But I understand the thinking.
2080ti is if you're planning to play stuff at 4k at like 90+ FPS or something, or even like high refresh 1440. But at that point cheaper cards can handle that as it is
2080 Ti is if you want the most expensive consumer card.
Because you want the most expensive consumer card.
I don't care what Nvidia says, the Titan is a consumer card
And the Titan won't give you any more FPS at double the price
Titan is big dicking: the graphics card.
look at it this way, i saved up some cash with the goal of making a really good PC with the goal of getting 144 fps EVEN at the cost of loweing graphics settings. Potentially, i'd like to reach it with medium on most games. However, the more i'm doing my researches, and the more it seems like going for a 3k pc doesn't give you THAT much more value than let's say a 1.5k one, if you get what i'm trying to say
i'd be fine to go for a 3k build, but if i don't get much from it, i'd rather not, if you get what i mean
144fps at 1080p or what?
that's what i initally planned, yea
I'd say you don't want to barely meet that target, you want to be a bit above that for slight leeway
Cause you can get that with sub 1000 depending on what games we're talking about
9700K + 1080ti is probably that point
personally i never cared too much about 1080 - 1440p 2k ecc, it might be just me but i don't see that much of a difference.. it seems like once you get to 720p anything behind that just makes it a bit sharper
again, might just be me
