I ended up with a 60 GB 10 minute 2k60 video file after exporting from After Effects with lossless quality.

I use a 580 personally, I can promise you its quite a bit better than a 1050. And TBH while it is comparable to the 1060, its doing a bit better with drivers and a larger memory bus.

You can get one off Ebay easily for as low as 80 bucks, but that takes a bit more effort considering you gotta make sure you aren't looking at a card that's been mined the crap out of and the memory is failing or something. But yeah saving up and getting something better wouldn't be a bad idea, there's a number of cards out now in the 200 - 300 range that outperform the 580.

Unrelated but I tried playing Rage 2 recently, and that game is fucked. It seemingly doesn't support Freesync so you gotta use V-sync, and then for whatever reason half the time after opening the menu or alt tabbing, the gpu downclocks and the game runs at 37fps. Then you gotta toggle the menu and that fixes it

See that's the thing, it has a Fidelity FX option. Which is like a AMD open source post processing thing to sharpen textures and add more detail to them, so its not like they forgot about AMD. It was Game Pass though, so maybe that version of the game is just awful

Yeah like it depends if GTAV is using 900mb, then maybe or maybe not. The system might using a little bit of the vram to run the some background stuff as well. Might not matter, you could test it if you like. Its literally just a trip to the Bios
What I do know is if you run out of Vram, drops will happen. Typically how it works is it starts using the system RAM when you run out, but since its already kinda doing that it might not be as bad as with a regular graphics card. Can't say for sure
