finite sentinel
#

it's called conversation

#

So how about we scrub that and talk builds

warped hedge
#

you where doing a bit more than that chief hate to brake it to you dont start playing the victim now i can quote you many times of what you said your self up above

#

end of topic

dusty pumice
#

I thought you had a fresh windows install to run

finite sentinel
#

i can't find my flash drive

dusty pumice
#

Shouldnt you be busy with that instead of typing here?

warped hedge
#

LAMOOOOO

finite sentinel
#

i did :p

#

hence can't find

#

i ordered a new one

#

Look, i'm sorry, i thought we were just talking about security ffs don't understand why ya'll are getting uppity now

#

So we can be adults and just move on

warped hedge
#

i already did

abstract kite
#

We did

#

You're still talking about it

#

ยฏ_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

finite sentinel
#

Really when did the conversation shift?

abstract kite
#

you where doing a bit more than that chief hate to brake it to you dont start playing the victim now i can quote you many times of what you said your self up above
end of topic
@warped hedge

warped hedge
#

when i said end of topic

abstract kite
#

It closed there

obsidian bobcat
#

what gpu you all running

finite sentinel
#

that was after i tried to end it

warped hedge
#

1070

abstract kite
#

GTX 1070

finite sentinel
#

I am currently running a 2070

abstract kite
#

Up top fish ๐Ÿ‘

obsidian bobcat
#

2080 for me

finite sentinel
#

1070 is a pertty efficient machine

warped hedge
#

same sku to be exact

abstract kite
#

I'm probably going to buy a 3080 when they release

#

Hashcat loves GPUs

finite sentinel
#

i game at 1440p and have a 165fps monitor tho, even the 2070 isn't enough for top end graphic games =/

obsidian bobcat
#

i want 6 titan RTX cards

finite sentinel
#

i think display tech has outpaced processing

#

i can't imagine anything being able to do 4k gaming at 144mhz

#

at top settings

abstract kite
#

I'm still using a 1080p 60hz monitor for my gaming

#

it does the job, and I'm happy with it

#

but soon I'll get a 144hz 1080p

finite sentinel
#

i don't regret switching to 1440p

abstract kite
#

and use this one as a secondary

finite sentinel
#

but it does strain the hardware

abstract kite
#

I dont see myself switching to 1440p anytime soon.

finite sentinel
#

yea you need a beast

abstract kite
#

When it gets as cheap as current 1080p, sure

finite sentinel
#

it's expensive

#

well 1440p monitors aren't expensive

obsidian bobcat
#

ive got 1440p 144hz and a 1080p 144hz

finite sentinel
#

it's being able to pump up the settings

abstract kite
#

Yea

warped hedge
#

i still got 1080p 144hz

obsidian bobcat
#

i got my 1440p 144 for under 300 USD

finite sentinel
#

I'm planning to upgrade my gpu when next gen comes out if it's a significant improvement

obsidian bobcat
#

it was like.. 250 i think

abstract kite
#

So RTX 3000 then? lol

finite sentinel
#

that or wahtever AMD comes out with

#

it depends on specs honestly

#

performance is key

#

and price...

#

price lately more than ever honestly ffs

warped hedge
#

amd gpus are shit tbh

#

not for budget

#

but for performace

finite sentinel
#

it's been a while since i've viewed AMD(ati) favourably as well

#

though i did just get a ryzen CPU but mostly because the price was right ๐Ÿ˜›

abstract kite
#

Nvidia is dropping to 7nm samsung die, which could potentially drop the price of the cards in general. Rumors are we might see up to a 50% increase in performance, but I'm leaning to more of a 35% increase. Seems more reasonable

#

Umm

#

Was the ati necessary?

finite sentinel
#

probably not... but i was indicating i had no faith in either AMD or ATI really for a while

dusty pumice
#

@finite sentinel Specs?

finite sentinel
#

atm ryzen 7 3800k, 32GB viper steel 4400mhz, 2070

abstract kite
#

3800k?

#

Damn

#

Never heard of that one before

finite sentinel
#

the price was right

#

sorry x

#

not k

#

im used to intel

abstract kite
#

Same haha

#

its a solid build

finite sentinel
#

i got the cpu for 320

#

so it was worth it

warped hedge
#

yeah i have a 3800x to

finite sentinel
#

honestly they need new naming conventions

#

they're reusing old number and lettering systems at this point -_-

abstract kite
#

I'm on a 3700X, 3600mhz 32gb memory, GTX 1070
Plans for the future are moving to Ryzen 4000 (either 4900X or 4950X), upgrading to 64GB, and buy a 3080

#

Hopefully I'll have all of that done by Q4 2021 lol

finite sentinel
#

yea i wanted the i7 9900k but the price was NOT right ๐Ÿ˜›

abstract kite
#

9700K?

warped hedge
#

new i7?

polar basin
#

aye i got the i7 9900k

#

my nigga

finite sentinel
#

snagged the ryzen during christmas sale

#

320 vs what? 460?

merry bay
#

I don't get the deal with folks being confused over the names. It's the same familiar formula just counting up

warped hedge
#

I7 9900K

#

HUH

#

let that sink in

polar basin
#

i7 9700K

#

lmao

finite sentinel
#

Hapcher, when you've been around long enough the numbers repeat :p

#

they just add letters

obsidian bobcat
#

ive got a Ryzen 7 2700x, RTX 2080, 16gb DDR4 3200 ram, 5gb storage (2tb ssd 3tb hdd)

abstract kite
#

@obsidian bobcat thats a REALLY good build ngl

edit: tagged wrong person

finite sentinel
#

it's confusing enough without omitting important info =/

median moon
#

yeah thats like

#

extreme solid

#

could probably go for a 2070 Super instead though

finite sentinel
#

i'd upgrade the memory but otherwise it's a very solid build

median moon
#

save some $ for basically the same performance

finite sentinel
#

but i stream, need that RAM

median moon
#

also Chara !!!

warped hedge
#

i got a Ryzen 7 3800X 16gb DDR4 3266MHZ GTX 1070FTW

finite sentinel
#

i tried running my new rig on 16gb...

#

kept running out and virtual memory sucks

#

again i stream though

warped hedge
#

explain

finite sentinel
#

encoding is serious business

warped hedge
#

i stream on 16

#

whats your point

obsidian bobcat
#

I also stream, but also I want more ram bc video editing

warped hedge
#

encoding is cpu/gpu baised
\

finite sentinel
#

yea when you do higher res stuff it sucks the RAM up

#

it still uses memory

median moon
#

32GB is basically big gang

finite sentinel
#

and lots of it

warped hedge
#

the game used ram

finite sentinel
#

i stream 1080p60 at 5k

warped hedge
#

HUH

finite sentinel
#

bitrate

median moon
#

oooof

warped hedge
#

i stream 1080p60

#

with 16 of ram

finite sentinel
#

im not saying you can't do it

#

i'm saying my particular setup couldn't

#

kept running out of memory

warped hedge
#

how

abstract kite
#

Your system is better than his though?

finite sentinel
#

well the game had a memory leak so that helped ๐Ÿ˜›

abstract kite
#

Do you have a lot of programs running in the background?

warped hedge
#

im just confused

abstract kite
#

What game was it?

finite sentinel
#

battletech

abstract kite
#

Ahh

#

is that on Steam?

#

Nvm just looked it up

#

Paradox and Steam I think

finite sentinel
#

i mean yea it's on steam

#

but i have bots up, the stream itself, reference material etc etc

#

discord

abstract kite
#

Quick search, seems like the game uses maybe 2-4Gb of ram and up to 4gb of video ram.

Was your system crashing or the game?

finite sentinel
#

but mainly it was the memory leak

#

the game

#

tho it caused other programs to crash due to running out of memory

abstract kite
#

Memory leak looks to have been fixed back in summer 2018

#

was there another update where it came back?

finite sentinel
#

it was fixed for most people, not all

#

it's mostly when playing 4+ hours

#

i dunno, it's the only game that had an issue

abstract kite
#

How was it not fixed? Hardware compatibility or files just need to be verified?

finite sentinel
#

but the real reason for 32GB is because i like to host my own minecraft server

warped hedge
#

im amazed you can play a game for 4+ hours

finite sentinel
#

@abstract kite i have no clue honestly

#

i just know the game was taking over 8GB RAM

abstract kite
#

Try verifying the integrity of your files

finite sentinel
#

pissed me off because people were saying "Oh it's your system"

#

of course i verified them =/

warped hedge
#

how many peole can connect to the minecraft server??

abstract kite
#

Did a full uninstall and reinstall of the game after that?

#

since the issue doesnt seem to have been fixed?

finite sentinel
#

nah i beat it instead :p

#

done with the game = no longer an issue

abstract kite
#

But you still needed to buy more ram to play it lol

finite sentinel
#

no

#

i bought the RAM for the Minecraft

vapid crypt
#

Just download more RAM phaSip

finite sentinel
#

lol

abstract kite
#

im not saying you can't do it
i'm saying my particular setup couldn't
kept running out of memory

well the game had a memory leak so that helped ๐Ÿ˜›
@finite sentinel

#

Thats uhh

#

why you said you got more ram

finite sentinel
#

ok so it wasnt the primary reason... sorry

#

look im bad with words ok?

abstract kite
#

Its okay

#

I misunderstood lol

#

I get ya know

finite sentinel
#

the minecraft server uses 6gb RAM because it's heavily modded

#

and minecraft itself when open takes 8gb

warped hedge
#

how many peole can connect to the minecraft server??

finite sentinel
#

again it's the mods

#

fishy, i don't know! i never had more than 3-4 but i'd imagine whatever the server program allows

#

32? 64? 128?

abstract kite
#

Mind DMing the IP to me? I'd like to check it out if you dont mind

finite sentinel
#

it's not up atm...

abstract kite
#

It sounds pretty sick honestl-

oh okay

finite sentinel
#

my PC is dead remember ๐Ÿ˜› damn windows update

abstract kite
#

Ahh yea haha

finite sentinel
#

i'll get it up and let you know

median moon
#

๐Ÿ”ธ

abstract kite
#

But, you can still DM the IP when you get the system up and running right?

finite sentinel
#

stoneblock 2 was what i was running

#

i dunno, you don't plan to hack me do ya? :p

abstract kite
#

Naw

#

Minecraft is legit

finite sentinel
#

I suppose i could run it in a linux shell

#

wouldn't let you access anything else

abstract kite
#

I mean if you feel better doing it that way go for it

finite sentinel
#

nah

abstract kite
#

I just want to see the server

#

nothing else lol

finite sentinel
#

i was teasing

#

but you'd need the mods

#

stoneblock 2

abstract kite
#

Okay I'll get that

#

Thanks!

finite sentinel
#

i'll let you know... im gonna clean my room tomorrow, maybe find that flash drive

#

still got a new one coming though

abstract kite
#

GL

#

If you find that flash drive you can get things up and running faster lol

finite sentinel
#

the thing is i moved recently

median moon
#

bil is out here bypassing the firewall, cracking the encryption and hacking the mainframe on minecraft servers

fresh solar
#

needing help i have a i9 and a 2080 i tested on other games and they run fine on high, but when i run gtfo its capping at 13 frames. I did the nvida things and have everything set to off and and low what else is there to do?!?!

finite sentinel
#

so the flash drive could literally be anywhere

median moon
#

@fresh solar probably just gtfo honestly

#

game's still ea

finite sentinel
#

@south bramble what version of nvidia drivers?

abstract kite
#

@fresh solar It's GTFO most likely, try changing CPU culling and disabling Vsync

median moon
#

^

fresh solar
#

lastest uodate

median moon
#

if that doesnt work just reinstall the game

finite sentinel
#

latest isn't always best but it IS definitely the game

#

does anyone know if a particular version of the drivers works best?

fresh solar
#

ill try reinstalling

median moon
#

didn't we just deal with this issue like 10 hours ago with R6S

warped hedge
#

the latest

finite sentinel
#

oh well nvm what i said then

abstract kite
#

A clean reinstall could very much fix the issue @fresh solar

List of steps:
Set CPU culling to medium and disable Vsync. If not fixed,
Verify the integrity of the game's files in Steam. If not fixed,
Reinstall

median moon
#

i'm gonna see how much fps i can crank out of super hexagon

#

once i get my pc built

finite sentinel
#

yeesh tehre are several machines in here lol im not used to having to cycle through to get teh right one

#

o.o Super Hexagon... never played but i think i might have it

median moon
#

super hexagon is the best

finite sentinel
#

I get bored of games too easily these days

median moon
#

i've had it for like a solid 7 years now and it's really damn good at training your reflexes

#

kinda shocking honestly how i used to be able to barely do the first level but can now beat the entire game on one hand

finite sentinel
#

lol

#

sounds like how i felt about necrodancer

median moon
#

could also be absolutely CRANKED for fps considering how light it is

abstract kite
#

You know what game gets slept on because people dont play it much?
Superhot

finite sentinel
#

great game

abstract kite
#

I need to buy that game, but playing it in VR at a VR Suite was AMAZING

finite sentinel
#

i actually want to get a VR headset and get back to it

median moon
#

can confirm

#

have beaten all 3 superhot games

#

100% worth

finite sentinel
#

i was thinking of getting the occulus quest

median moon
#

Do not

#

oculus is in the shitter right now

finite sentinel
#

?

median moon
#

vive is 100% the way to go

warped hedge
#

nah

#

rift

#

i dont like vive controller

finite sentinel
#

the quest is a stand alone system

abstract kite
#

nah

median moon
#

the quest will kill your eyes

abstract kite
#

index ๐Ÿ˜›

median moon
#

OK you right actually

#

but the index is mad expensive

warped hedge
#

leme just drop 1k

sick reef
#

If money is of no concern, Index.

median moon
#

^

abstract kite
#

Yea its expensive but the controllers are SO GOOD

#

I love them so much

median moon
#

i'm getting the Cosmos

finite sentinel
#

yea fk that i can't afford 1k... hell i can't even afford 400

warped hedge
#

full hand tracking

abstract kite
#

I want full body tracking

warped hedge
#

OWO

abstract kite
#

put me in a VR suit plz

finite sentinel
#

my recent PC update tapped me out for the whole fking year XD

median moon
#

regular vive is only like $300 @finite sentinel

abstract kite
#

DONT YOU OWO AT ME WITHOUT A OWO LICENSE SIR

median moon
#

@abstract kite haha. ha. i see where you're going with that

#

and yes that movie was good

finite sentinel
#

@median moon i don't have the space for the tracking posts

median moon
#

F

abstract kite
#

Ready Player one was great

warped hedge
#

i will OWO all i want

abstract kite
#

๐Ÿš“

median moon
#

i mean if you ever saved up more

#

cosmos lookin pretty nice

#

no need for lighthouse stations

finite sentinel
#

man you're making me want to just put it off til VR becomes more mainstream

warped hedge
#

it is

median moon
#

it is

finite sentinel
#

or perhaps until they develop a neural interface

warped hedge
#

what do you mean

abstract kite
#

it is

median moon
#

VR is definitely mainstream now

finite sentinel
#

it's close to mainstream

abstract kite
#

someone else say It Is cmon keep it going

median moon
#

it's gone from enthusiasts only to business ventures

finite sentinel
#

it's not quite mainstream but it's getting there

abstract kite
#

So when can I get my own personal Neon

median moon
#

hell i've drafted a VR capable PC for like $800

abstract kite
#

And have conversations with a computer

finite sentinel
#

honestly though, i'd prefer a neural interface

#

that's true VR

hexed horizon
#

VR got a lot more accessable last year with the "plug and play" headsets that does not need external sensors to work.

median moon
#

gaimglass

warped hedge
#

i had vr going in a i5 6600 and my 1070 before i upgraded

hexed horizon
#

The Windows Mixed Reality headsets being the budget/entry level stuff, the Oculus S just a bit above that but they couldn't be more easier to set up and play.

finite sentinel
#

ok? i don't understand how that's relevant

median moon
#

unfortunately my laptop is just barely too crappy to run vr

hexed horizon
#

Gaimglass is a meme

median moon
#

i7 somethingK, unspecified with a 1050

#

definitely Not good

abstract kite
#

Hey guys I can give you nightmares

#

You want some?

hexed horizon
#

Yeah well the 1050 is not really VR ready

median moon
#

my point exactly

abstract kite
median moon
#

SHRIEK

finite sentinel
#

lol

#

that's nothing honestly

median moon
#

if you took the white out of the eyes that'd be genuinely terrifying

abstract kite
#

Bet you could

finite sentinel
#

but yea for VR i want a neural interface

abstract kite
#

its just shading is all

finite sentinel
#

anything else isn't VR! :p

median moon
#

heavy rain AR glasses when

abstract kite
#

Thats still pretty far into the future mina

finite sentinel
#

i know T_T

abstract kite
#

I probably wont be alive when we get some of those

finite sentinel
#

i can dream dammit

#

i want my mind uploaded into a computer

median moon
#

not gonna happen

warped hedge
#

honstly i just want ready player one

finite sentinel
#

damn flesh prison

vapid crypt
#

Can't wait to be addicted to space cocaine

median moon
#

uploading your brain into a pc has been debunked several times

finite sentinel
#

only our current tech

abstract kite
#

Just get your brain uploaded into one of Googles quantum computers ๐Ÿ‘

#

Become the new face of Google

sick reef
#

Yeah, tried it, didn't work.

abstract kite
#

literally

finite sentinel
#

with organic quantum computers it'll be possible

sick reef
finite sentinel
#

just not for like 100 years

sick reef
#

It was the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals

median moon
#

imagine running crysis 2 on a google quantum pc

vapid crypt
#

The last thing I want is google handling my consciousness

median moon
#

would still probably only get ~28fps on low settings

finite sentinel
#

a google quantum pc couldn't run crysis 2 -_-

#

it doesn't process the same way PCs do

median moon
#

the joke is that crysis 2 is unoptimized as hell

#

:(

finite sentinel
#

oh sorry i don't know crysis 2

#

i mean i know OF

median moon
#

crysis 2 is legit the most disgustingly "optimized" game that i know of

finite sentinel
#

well i'd say anthem but they fixed a lot of that

vapid crypt
#

The joke "But can it run Crysis?" still applies unironically phaWesker

median moon
#

it's like you took a PS2 port, destroyed it through a gamecube action replay, then tried to play it on a game boy you set on fire

warped hedge
#

the joke is that battletech is unoptmized as hell

finite sentinel
#

sounds like a good time though

median moon
#

@vapid crypt honestly i doubt we will ever run Crysis

sick reef
#

Crysis 2 was optimised for graphical fidelity specifically, after what happened with Crysis.

finite sentinel
#

i mean, i'd set a game boy on fire :3

#

it would still work too

#

you read about that gameboy that was found after a fire and it still worked?

#

the old brick gameboy

median moon

i bet you all think super young when i say i spilled apple juice on it...

it's a transformer!

vapid crypt

Actually that was also the last Nintendo thing I owned, was thinking of getting a Switch... but I dunno what for

yea... i don't have much use for my switch

i only use it... <.< when on the toilet >.>

abstract kite
#

Rumors are about 30% more performance for a 4900X

#

So I'm thinking it will be right under a 3950X in terms of performance. There's a chance it could be on par.

Nah. It would probably disintegrate the meat immediately.

vernal lion

Holding in their for a bit would do it though. If it is used heavily.

regal laurel
#

Is the 4900X going to be a 12core still though?
Assuming a 3900X gets a score of 1000 with 12c24t@3.8ghz, with those alleged +17% IPC it'd still need a base clock of at least 4.22ghz to get those 1300 points

I believe so it will

But unless the company has some trick to the way 4000 chips will be, itโ€™ll be same cores

Yeah, probably more performance without the heat or difficulty to getting a higher clock I guess

imagine u could get a 4600 with huge IPC and 4.7-4.8ghz? massive

fleet canopy
#

Sure, but thereโ€™s not much difference at the moment I think

#

3700X can do like 93%?

regal laurel
#

93% of what?

fleet canopy
#

Game perf

#

9700K/9900K can do like 100%

regal laurel
#

well depends on games and stuff

#

personally I go for very very high fps, so it's probably more like 15% or even more

#

if u play 1440p high details it's likely only 5% or so?

dusty pumice
#

Gonna be weird to see 360hz and 1440p 240hz

#

Samsung Odyssey coming with that 240hz and 1440p 1000R curved

Wouldnโ€™t mine myself one

dusty pumice
#

@dense wasp im almost 100% buying it

#

Just for the fucks for it

dense wasp
#

The 49โ€?

dusty pumice
#

but im not going to use it for daily use

fleet canopy
#

lol

dusty pumice
#

Yessir

#

I have a 32inch now for daily use with 2x verticals

dense wasp
#

Looks like a Star Trek screen

sick reef
#

Still want technical data for it to be interesting.

dense wasp
#

And I love it ๐Ÿ˜…

dusty pumice
#

Im gonna use it for racing screen

#

on the third floor lmfao

sick reef
#

1ms means nothing if it's on overclock with RTC overshoot for days.

dense wasp
#

Itโ€™s a good โ€œfuck youโ€ monitor thou

sick reef
dusty pumice
#

its gonna be pretty expansive i believe

#

but i dont know the price right now

sick reef
#

Eh, can't get a monitor for that reason.

dense wasp
#

Iโ€™ve been wanting to try the x35 as well..

dusty pumice
#

thats the only thing holding me back from buying

sick reef

You can get the most expensive games in the stock but that doesn't mean that you'll play it

fleet canopy
#

pulls out 55โ€ 4K tv with 180hz and 1ms f o c k y o u >:)

sick reef
#

Yeah, nah.

dense wasp
#

I wouldnโ€™t even be able to fit it on my current workstation thou

dusty pumice
#

I really like the 1800R curve on those 32inch monitors

#

1000R looks fucking nuts

#

for a main monitor bit too crazy for me tbh

sick reef
#

TV isn't going to push that 1ms, nor delay.

fleet canopy
#

Shh

#

It can someday-

dusty pumice
#

I dont have space on my desk for that only when i take the second pc off it lmfao

sick reef
#

The more it has to render, the longer it takes.

#

Easiest math of the decade.

dusty pumice
#

Im so scared to break my first ultrawide with just moving it = (

sick reef
#

Maybe one day, but that's not now nor then. We need ground breaking screen technology for it

dusty pumice
#

yeah thats not happening soon

regal laurel
#

just put ryzen 4000 series into monitors

fleet canopy
#

No

sick reef
#

And have it do zit?

fleet canopy
#

Well

regal laurel
#

soon they'll have a core per pixel anyways

sick reef
#

Different processes with different purposes.

fleet canopy
#

The PC in monitor is really old

sick reef
#

That's really what we'd have to end up with. Nano-technology that works individually.

#

But then, smudging and ghosting.

#

Because it's not synched properly.

dusty pumice
#

I mean we have the Asus ROG Swift PG65UQ

#

But idk what to think about that one lmfao

fleet canopy
#

Seems sketchy

#

Not saying the milliseconds

sick reef
#

Don't think it matters by that size.

#

Also, ms depends fully

dusty pumice
#

Buying asus in my country is a bit sketchy anyway talking only about the monitors

#

its hard to get a good warranty claim on it

sick reef
#

Can't use ms as a metric if everyone uses different length rulers.

#

Which is the case with most screens.

fleet canopy
#

The only thing acting a bastard is the headphone cord at the moment for me

dusty pumice
#

Just buy a new one?

fleet canopy
#

I wish

sick reef
#

the PG65 also has the wattage of a low effect microwave.

fleet canopy
#

Not really that worth trying to get one unless I know it's close enough to the audiotechnica without a 400 mile long cord

sick reef
#

You mean just the 3.5 from headset to computer?

#

Or it a special cord.

dusty pumice
#

I think that monitor is more in mind for the console people anyway

#

4K gaming

sick reef
#

That monitor is in mind for people who don't know what it costs but also don't care.

fleet canopy
#

kek

dusty pumice
#

Right in my alley then ayy?

fleet canopy
#

4K gaming is easy as hell for console

#

Buut

#

None of them can do 144Hz

#

Except one of Xbox's consoles

#

Probably

dusty pumice
#

Im happy they support xbox one for two more years

sick reef
#

Wouldn't spend 4000 on a screen.

fleet canopy
#

More likely just some dumbass advertising

dusty pumice
#

so i can just simply use my disc drive or download games onto it

sick reef
#

Can get a decent enough screen for less than 1000 and get three valve index's instead.

fleet canopy
#

Yes

dusty pumice
#

You can get those 65 inch monitors

#

on huge sales tho

#

Atleast half the price i've seen them for

fleet canopy
#

2000$?

#

Yeah no

dusty pumice
#

Close to it yea

#

1500 - 2000

fleet canopy
#

Only gonna limit myself to 200-400$

#

500$ if it's really fucking good deal

#

For a great monitor

#

But yeah

dusty pumice
#

Im way more flexible with money same with desk choices but where in a way different age category

sick reef
#

Looking at their smaller monitor, PG35VQ, you get noticeable slow transitions, but no overshoot. Wonder what panel the 65 inch runs.

fleet canopy
#

VA I believe

sick reef
#

Actual Panel.

#

Model and make.

fleet canopy
#

Yeah it's VA

#

They have specs page

sick reef
#

Okay, so you understand fully.

fleet canopy
#

4ms response

sick reef
#

The PG35VQ runs a AU Optronics M350QVR01.7 AMVA panel.

#

The panel is the "screen".

regal laurel
#

so you're telling me, ROG doesn't make these panels from crystalized gamer tears?

fleet canopy
#

Absolutely they do

dusty pumice
#

Nah might be bathwater mixed with tears

sick reef
#

Bath salts, moreso.

dusty pumice
#

I mean gamers get salty

fleet canopy
#

Yeah

#

A huge fucking salt farm from League Of Legends

regal laurel
#

I for one wouldn't mind some belle delphine bathwater in my monitor

dusty pumice
#

Theres more than enough salt to mine here lol

fleet canopy
#

Or World Of Warcraft

regal laurel
#

pretty sure they still bless water, no?

dusty pumice
#

believe so

#

Idk honestly

#

but im not gonna continue the topic because it is and stays a tech channel

regal laurel
#

hmm

#

so let's say the antichrist wants to steal your 3990wx workstation

#

do you choose the holy water or throw a g502 at him?

#

btw, a tech thingy iwas thinking about regarding to gtfo

#

there isn't really anyone benchmarking this game and it's unclear whether anyone will in the future

fleet canopy
#

This game

#

Is not very optimized

#

2080 Ti and 9900KS?

regal laurel
#

so I was wondering how yall think ppl could recommend stuff for this

fleet canopy
#

That system ain't even gonna hit 30

regal laurel
#

it's very cpu bound atm from my testing

fleet canopy
#

Probably people setting cull wrong

regal laurel
#

60% GPU utilization in empty rooms

#

idk

#

i never really saw much difference between small or extreme cpu culling

fleet canopy
#

Me neither

regal laurel
#

started the game

#

on my usual B1 spot looking at the big room, emptied

#

i get 178fps on extreme and 179 on small

#

yeah, so I was thinking whether there should be something done to help ppl know what perf they are going to get

dusty pumice
#

Should be useful yes

#

Maybe there are already vids up on youtube but i dont know

regal laurel
#

other than that I was also curious about this game's network tickrate
Playing online the enemies always stutter around, so there could definitely still be some work done in interpolation or so, but u may know "battlenonsense" who tests stuff properly

brisk badger
#

using a 5700xt and a i7 4790k i also see no difference

regal laurel
#

I doubt anyone's mesured anything with like wireshark yet, right?

brisk badger
#

i doubt you can make out anything with analyzing packets

sick reef
#

Not of netcode, generally.

brisk badger
#

well not the interpolation i mean

regal laurel
#

I just thought maybe we'd see that this game uses a tickrate of 10 and that could explain it

#

it uses player hosts too so that's never too reliable obviously

brisk badger
#

pretty sure the game is client side hit confirmation

#

probably if you look at the unity engine, I guess you'll find out the default rates

regal laurel
#

quite honestly I dont even know where to look for in unity

#

like I know this game seems to use a library called "SNet" but when you search for that online you dont really get many easy to understand results

sick reef
#

Yeah, the tickrate might be good data, if so is poor.

brisk badger
#

"Multiplayer layer for Unity - Client/Server based on ENet"

regal laurel
#

so yeah I dont really know where to look for unity

#

in unreal you can just open configs ctrl+f "tickrate" and there u go

brisk badger
#

hmm maybe it's just named different

#

maybe try "interpolation", "sendrate", "moverate" dunno tbh

#

but I would be curious as well

abstract kite
#

Ok one more question, what computer do I need for mobile games

#

ok @brisk badger

#

this gotten serious

#

just downloaded sea of thieves

#

cant run above 77 fps on max now

#

what the fuck

fleet canopy
#

Ah

#

Thought you got that lmao

rancid kindle
#

Any suggestions for upgrades?

fleet canopy
#

And was confused why you got a 2600X instead 3600

rancid kindle
#

Or see any flaws?

#

Nah dw

fleet canopy
#

Like?

#

And uhh

#

That's pretty solid build

#

But the fans?

#

Or does he already have them?

rancid kindle
#

๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

fleet canopy

rancid kindle
#

Ahhh yeah

#

He won a case in a raffle

fleet canopy
#

Oh nice

#

If it doesn't come with fans, try going for a good noctua

#

Not too expensive or bequiet is cool too

rancid kindle
#

Hangon I'll find what case he's got. I know he didn't like the one he won and bought a new one

solid jay
#

does anyone else experience the mobs kinda lagging around as if rubber banding ?

median moon
#

noctua case fans are the best

#

their industrial series will cool anything

abstract kite
#

@solid jay I can think of one reason why that would be, and itโ€™s connection based.

The game is currently โ€œPlayer 2 playerโ€. There is no dedicated servers as of yet, so one player hosts the game and others join them.

Are you (or anyone you play with) in a different geographical area than the rest of the group youโ€™re playing with?

solid jay
#

@abstract kite negative me and my duo are extremely close together and we both experience this , i can try to record it when its happening if you want?

abstract kite
#

@solid jay I believe Iโ€™m aware of the issue youโ€™re talking about, but a recording would surely help.

Depending on the internet of the person hosting, lag can affect other players or the AI. Itโ€™s generally best to find the person with the best connection and have them host.

You can also verify the integrity of your files in Steam. If that doesnโ€™t fix the issue, uninstall the game and reinstall.

solid jay
#

@abstract kite alright here in a bit ill get a recording of it , and its not players at all its just the mobs

abstract kite
#

Just the mobs...

Try to verify your files then.

solid jay
#

@abstract kite alright ill give that a try ty

abstract kite
#

@solid jay Let me know if it works. If it doesnโ€™t, we can try and hit this at another angle.

solid jay
#

@abstract kite alright , its not like gamebreaking where its unplayable but it just seemed like a game thing :p ill get back to you here soon

torn ferry
#

Could someone help me on why my computer said it was fixing my main hard drive upon startup?

#

It went away after a bit and my computer started up as normal, but I still want to know why it happened and what I can do to prevent it from happening again.

merry bay
#

Most of the times it happens after a bluescreen or a sudden shutdown(e. x. power outtage)

torn ferry
#

I always shut it off properly though using the shutdown option in the start menu.

#

What are other reasons it can occur?

merry bay
#

Something however minor has to go wrong to trigger it afaik.
Could be malware or a storage fault, but the vast majority of times it's a sudden shutdown to blame.

#

You can run Malwarebytes just in case.
And check up on your drive health with CrystalDiskInfo. Both programs are free.

#

Personally I wouldn't think much of it, unless it keeps happening daily.

fleet canopy
#

Hm

#

It's been some time since I've done a malware check

#

Probably like since the 10th month of 2019

#

?

#

Hm, doesn't seem right

#

It was a long time

#

Longer than that

merry bay
#

I don't keep it in the background, but occasional checkups can be nice.

fleet canopy
#

No bad files, neat

torn ferry
#

Can low storage space trigger it, @merry bay?

merry bay
#

It shouldn't cause issues, might make speeds suffer, but shouldn't cause errors.

torn ferry
#

I only had 30 GB free on the SSD before I deleted 200 GB of games to free some space up.

abstract kite
#

@torn ferry What SSD is it and how much have you installed/uninstalled

merry bay
#

More importantly, how old is your SSD

abstract kite
#

I dont think that age matters if it's younger than 5 years

#

The amount of writes are what would matter imo

#

since SSDs are limited to a certain amount of writes before they literally kill themselves and prevent you from writing any more data

torn ferry
#

ADATA SU800.

#

Is that good or bad?

merry bay
#

I've yet to see an actual user reach those write limits. It's almost a challenge even when torturing SSD's

abstract kite
#

Well it was older tech even when it was released

#

@merry bay Yea thats true. it would take hundreds of years to shut down an SSD from writes now that I think about it

torn ferry
#

Am I good or is there a serious problem I need to correct here?

abstract kite
#

@torn ferry I recently changed hardware and windows started bugging out for me. A windows reinstall fixed the issue for me, but if your system is running perfectly fine after the initial start up then I would say you're find for now

#

if the issue is persistent then you might have a problem

merry bay
#

CrystalDiskInfo will have the best answer for you. If the drive is in poor condition it will be revealed.

abstract kite
#

^

torn ferry
#

Iโ€™ve been wanting to install a hard drive into the PC, but I feel like Iโ€™ll fuck it up so bad Iโ€™ll break something.

abstract kite
#

It wont mess anything up

#

just connect the HDD with a sata cable to the motherboard and also to a connector from the power supply

torn ferry
#

I've never opened the glass panel before besides taking out the foam when I got the PC delivered.

abstract kite
#

How long has that been?

torn ferry
#

#

I'm just scared to mess around with my computer in general in terms of installing new parts or maintenance, cause I'm scared I'll mess it up.

abstract kite
#

PCs are much more durable than people think. I would suggest you clean the system out with some compressed air. Dust isnt something you want to let build up

fleet canopy
#

I let it build up >:)

merry bay
#

Be like me, have your CPU cooler grow a carpet of cat hair.

abstract kite
#

If you want to install a hard drive but don't feel like doing it, you could DM me when it arrives and I can walk you through it.

torn ferry
#

I'd only ever feel comfortable doing that kind of stuff if I have someone physically with me that can help me out with it.

abstract kite
#

I helped a guy out about a month ago do an entire case swap. He knew nothing about how to build a PC too

#

it's not really hard

fleet canopy
#

Just know all you have to do is unscrew the dock, put HDD in, and screw it in as well plug it in

torn ferry
#

It's an iBuyPower system and when I first opened it up, the cable management looked, suboptimal, but I'm just way too scared to try anything.

abstract kite
#

Tell you what,

order that drive, and then let me know.

#

I'll voice call and walk you through everything

#

it's not hard

torn ferry
#

I have it here.

abstract kite
#

The drive?

torn ferry
#

Yes, a WD Blue 2 TB HDD.

abstract kite
#

Did it come with a cable?

#

and screws?

merry bay
#

Screws tend to come with the case and the cables bought separately. (maybe there's combos, but it's rarer)

abstract kite
#

Thats what I'm trying to figure out

#

if not, he's going to have to buy the sata cable at least

#

if hes lucky the case he has will have a "snap in" tray for HDDs

torn ferry
#

The drive and mounting screws were in the box.

merry bay
#

Nice

abstract kite
#

Yes!

#

What about a cable?

torn ferry
#

No cable. Just the drive and screws.

abstract kite
#

Ahh

#

That's going to be something you'll have to buy

merry bay
#

Did your PC come with just the unit itself? Or did you get a motherboard box along with it? Sometimes those have extras

abstract kite
#

SDDs and HDDs require two cables:
A power cable that is from the PSU (you don't need to buy one since the PSU has that attached)
And a SATA cable to connect to the motherboard to be able to store information

torn ferry
#

I can tell you the model and serial number of the iBuyPower system if that helps.

fleet canopy
#

I doubt a prebuilt would have all cables plugged into the PSU unless they came with those PSUs that you can't even unplug the cords from

merry bay
#

That wouldn't matter much. Just curious what it shipped with.

abstract kite
#

Since it's a prebuilt, I don't think it came with extra cables.

merry bay
#

Are there's any leftover boxes from where the PC came from?

#

Likely nothing since it's prebuilt, but hard to say for sure

torn ferry
#

Only the box the PC came in.

abstract kite
#

Let me find a SATA cable you can buy then

merry bay
#

Buying the SATA cable it is then

torn ferry
#

This is the PC here, only difference is the graphics card.

abstract kite
#

Startech can you have a neutral colored sata cable please?

torn ferry
#

Is that a good or bad case in terms of things you need for a case?

torn ferry
#

And other difference is a liquid cooler vs an air cooler.

merry bay
#

It seems to have a shroud at the bottom to hide cables and Hard Drives in, so it's good

abstract kite
#

You're going to get mixed opinions on liquid and air

#

I linked a black SATA III cable

fleet canopy
#

Liquid is best for small cases, air is best for bigger ones

abstract kite
#

Disagree

formal monolith
#

it really depends on the flow isnt it?

abstract kite
#

Yes and no

#

I'm boutta build a PC in an NCase M1 for a client/friend and we're gonna be using air. The advantages of liquid in SFF builds are very, very minimal

fleet canopy
#

Smaller cases won't really have much flow though, since a really small one won't be able to have much space in it

merry bay
#

For someone who has no idea how to configure fans, liquid will work way better though.

abstract kite
#

ยฏ_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

torn ferry
abstract kite
#

Thats fine

torn ferry
#

Is that where a radiator is supposed to go or is there a better spot for it?

fleet canopy
#

Yeah it's fine

abstract kite
#

Being a 120mm it's completely fine

formal monolith
#

its a small radiator so it can also fit the top, but it is fine where it is

torn ferry
#

But isn't optimal airflow stuff is down and to the right?

abstract kite
#

Both the top and rear vents act as exhaust, so it wont matter the placement

torn ferry
#

My only other issue is that there is a cooling fan blowing in the opposite direction as well on the right side.

#

Is that normal or not ideal?

abstract kite
#

Wait wot

#

Yea nope you want to change that

#

Both fans should be intakes

#

pushing air into the case

torn ferry
#

So ditch the fan completely?

fleet canopy
#

No

#

Flip it around

abstract kite
#

^

torn ferry
#

How can I tell which direction the fan is blowing?

fleet canopy
#

Logo of company is direction

formal monolith
#

usually it goes to the mesh

abstract kite
#

@fleet canopy corsair has logos on both sides of the fan

fleet canopy
#

Hm

#

Then some do

#

Just feel which way it's blowing

abstract kite
#

@torn ferry The plastic bracing is the rear of the fan. let me get you a picture

torn ferry
#

I cannot tell what company the fan is.

fleet canopy
#

Yeah that's not the important part for now

abstract kite
fleet canopy
#

H m m

abstract kite
#

Those braces indicate which direction the fan is to be placed

#

Not all fans are the same brand

#

but the bracing is generally the same

torn ferry
abstract kite
#

Thats correctly positioned

formal monolith
#

should be intake

abstract kite
#

Yea thats right

#

whats the other one look like?

torn ferry
#

That's the only one on there except the radiator fan.

abstract kite
#

Oh then your airflow is correct

fleet canopy
#

People dumb and install radiator fan wrong way sometime

torn ferry
#

Is it completely ineffective to transfer parts to a new case?

fleet canopy
#

Unless you yeet me the fact it only goes in 1 way

#

It's very effective, yes

#

Depending the case size ofc

abstract kite
#

@torn ferry Depends on the airflow of the new case, but can be highly beneficial

fleet canopy
#

As well as if it can fit the case for the rest other parts

abstract kite
#

^

fleet canopy
#

Some CPU coolers are too big, some GPUs are too long

#

Motherboards may be too small/big sometimes

abstract kite
#

only too big

#

you can fit itx boards in a majority of ATX cases

fleet canopy
#

But it should be easy and simple to avoid that if you know exactly what the case size is

torn ferry
#

Is the motherboard an ATX or mATX?

fleet canopy
#

You have to figure that out

#

Check what the motherboard model is

abstract kite
#

Send me a picture of the PC straight on

so I can the motherboard layout

torn ferry
abstract kite

Em

fleet canopy

What's the GPU?

A little farther back

I'm guessing it's mATX however

fleet canopy
#

That's software, not hardware GWmythicalThonkCool

abstract kite
#

It's had improvements

#

Pretty much any RGB software is full of holes

#

iCue is abysmal

fleet canopy
#

I should get Rainmeter again I guess?

#

I suck ass at it

#

Never could do anything with it unless anyone knows how to guide me

vapid crypt
#

I don't know how to use it either phaWesker

fleet canopy
#

Hah

abstract kite
#

Want me to send a YT channel that makes clean setups that you can follow?

torn ferry
#

What exactly makes the Helios overpriced?

abstract kite
#

everything

#

The quality, the airflow, the features

#

not optimal for the price

#

you're paying for the Strix name basically

vapid crypt
#

I don't know what that is PirateSimon

torn ferry
#

How is the Corsair iCue 465X?

abstract kite
#

@vapid crypt it's an asus case

vapid crypt
#

Wow Asus makes cases now

abstract kite
#

Its alright Shawn

vapid crypt
#

I thought Corsair was expensive phaWesker

fleet canopy
#

Asus Strix are usually overpriced tbh

abstract kite
#

but I would recommend a corsair 220t if you want RGB and corsair

#

it's a bit smaller, but has a ton of cooling potential

#

comes with three 120mm intakes installed

fleet canopy
#

The A S U S S T R I X M O N I T O R ! ! !

vapid crypt
#

Republic of Gamers, OH BOY MARK UP 300%

fleet canopy
#

OH YEAH WERE THE BEST THAT WE MAKE IT ALL OVERPRICED!!!!!

torn ferry
#

I assume this is also overpriced?

fleet canopy
#

BEST GAMER PRODUCT YEAH BOY

fleet canopy
#

Uhhh

abstract kite
#

thats a CHUNGUS

fleet canopy
#

Big chungy

abstract kite
#

No that's normal

vapid crypt
#

Are you looking for a new case?

fleet canopy
#

Cool

abstract kite
#

For how big that thing is

torn ferry
#

Is it overpriced?

fleet canopy
#

That's an ATX, no?

#

no

abstract kite
#

Yes

#

it is

fleet canopy
#

Not overpriced*

torn ferry
#

ATX.

abstract kite
#

It's a GREAT case if you have the room

torn ferry
#

I am going to be buying a new desk soon as well.

fleet canopy
#

Which be?

#

Get one of those height adjustable ones

abstract kite
#

This is a sweet case, and really as big as you would need

#

Anything larger would be overkill for the hardware you have

fleet canopy
#

Ooh, that's a nice design

abstract kite
#

the 680X is super pretty, but unless you need tons of storage, it's not worth it.

fleet canopy
#

Like D0c

abstract kite
#

^

late sorrel
#

lmfao

abstract kite
#

D0c is one of the only people I would recommend a bigass case to

#

cos he needs that

fleet canopy
#

Haha yeah

torn ferry
#

This one.

fleet canopy
#

Ah yeah

#

Classic MW1

#

Hm

abstract kite
#

D0c: "Looking for a new case. Need tons of storage"

Le me, a cultured individual: "Take a look at this c h u n g u s"

fleet canopy
#

I prefer an adjustable desk tbh

torn ferry
#

What is the difference between these 2 cases?

abstract kite
#

Ew no

#

no tempered glass in the front

fleet canopy
#

Tempered glass front sucks

abstract kite
#

it restricts airflow way more than you want

fleet canopy
#

No easy flow

abstract kite
#

Mesh front panels allow for the best airflow

torn ferry
#

What does the 680X case allow you to have?

fleet canopy
#

More drives

#

That's it

abstract kite
#

^

fleet canopy
#

Unneeded for you

abstract kite
#

You want to have one Petabyte of storage?
Need to run a minecraft server for millions?

Well I got the case for you!

torn ferry
#

Is it standard to have 1 SSD and 1 HDD?

abstract kite
#

Yep!

fleet canopy
#

Yeah

abstract kite
#

I have a 500GB SSD boot drive and a 2TB HDD

fleet canopy
#

1 SSD for windows boot, 1 HDD for games

torn ferry
#

How is the iCue 465X?

late sorrel
#

psh

fleet canopy
#

I'm just stuck with a 1TB SSD atm lol

late sorrel
#

I have two 1tb hdd
and one m.2 512ssd
and another 2.5 120gb ssd

#

it is truely gamer time

fleet canopy
#

Has tempered glass on front

abstract kite
#

@late sorrel You planning on instalocking Hanzo with that m.2 my brother?

late sorrel
#

lmfao

abstract kite
#

I think I've said that before

#

I'm getting deja vu

#

like I've been to this place before

fleet canopy
#

Honestly would love to have a 2TB SSD

late sorrel
#

don't think so

#

not to me

fleet canopy
#

I always almost take up 1TB lmao

torn ferry
#

Are both the iCue 465X and the 220T good choices or is one objectively better than the other?

abstract kite
#

@fleet canopy Samsung QVO SSD

fleet canopy
#

220T

#

465X has the tempered glass on front, no good
