Well im currently updating software and all
I can get back in an hour with experience
I mean they look decent but after the Vive touchpads this small joystick is questionable
And pressing down on them I heard was weird and uncomfortable
But we'll see
It also fits smaller hands better
keep us updated @hexed horizon I'm planning to buy it this July
What are the minSpecs cuz it wont start cuz of a ram issue
see #633424987889598484 @fickle dove
Yea my lappy cant handle it π π π π π π π π
Hm
#633424987889598484 has specs
From what i can see, you're not near those specs?
My lap has 8gb ram but only 6 is usable and I have a 1050 gfx card
I am fascinated; Do people even realize a difference of a monitor delay that is 1ms or 4ms or 10ms? Maybe I am too old but I don't see any
I play online video games that have an hilarious interpolation of 100ms, maybe I am used to delays haha
@fleet canopy owu
uwo
And some can see the difference
Plus in competitive gaming, it's pretty much a thing to have 1ms
and how do you handle the network latency?
have good internet
Yes
have good lan cable
cat 7
how will that help reducing latency
Ethernet cable is great
well speed is not latency
cat 7 is just higher frequency of 500MHz
which also increases crosstalk
so shielding is always nice for that
oh cat7 is shielded by default, makes sense
welp... my new 240hz just died xD...
Well
F
You can call the company for a replacement, no?
Dang
is this even a dead pixel or stuck.. cause its not black nor white
its rgb pixel line
I think by dead, it's a stuck pixel
I cant get it unstuck lol.. legit tried like everything.. + only happens in BIOS/boot sequence and when i dont have nvidia driver instlaled
so it has to be due to the monitor?
my old one works fine with my gpu xd...
sounds hilarious, but tried another cable?
turned it off already and waited long enough ?
yea...
@abstract kite ya RMA time :/
It's a fault in the monitor not much you can do about it
@grim lava Well, thats mine, I think about change my screen
what new screen you getting? @blissful wolf 1440p 144hz or 1080p 144hz?
@idle berry Well, at 1-3rd of December I will change to 1440p 144hz.
ahhh cool im on 1080p 144hz π
I've been looking for Monitors, while I want a 144hz, I have to say Color Accuracy is more my target than anything
You know what irks me the most?
31.93 rather than 32
Like lie to me if you have to but don't put such treachery
The staff support for replacement were really rude xD
they removed my express replacement option which takes a day just cause i didnt put those paper pads those fluffy stuff that prevents monitor from being damaged etc
π
Building a new PC but keeping my GPU, a 1080Ti. Will be waiting for the 30-series of cards when they drop next year. Is a 750W power supply going to be good enough for a Ryzen 3900X and whatever the equivalent of a 3080Ti will be?
go for 850-1000W platinum 80+
sometimes 850 platinum can equel too 1000W
which is gold 80+
Uh... I feel like that might be severely overkill to be honest. But I'll look at pricing.
750W platinum 80+ certification might also rival like 1000W
cause it saves power and delivers really well
@hidden marsh yes, 750w will be good
Works for me. Haven't decided if I should just use my current PSU (also 750W) or buy a new one.
Depends how old it is
wooah computers
If itβs over 5 Iβd recommend getting a new one
It's not, I've had it for like... 2 years, maybe 2.5 or so.
It's a 2017 model Corsair CXM.
Yeah, Iβd use the same one then
Oh I have 650W Evga supernova 6g
I need to rebuild my pc
Mhm
Wanna upgrade to the new ryzen7
Just hate the ram limitations on it
Like why are all new processors not letting me use 128gb?
why would you even need any more than 16 or 32 if you're not running servers or anything lol
To open 4 tabs with chrome
ok good point
Hah
Huh
Yeah
yeah pug, the headset itself is amazing. the ONLY complaint i have is the glare
and its a bit blurry for me but thats bcuz i dont wear my glasses in it
im not a big fan of the analog stick on the controllers, and theres some games that dont map properly for the controllers
so i might buy some htc ice cream cones
Iβm building two pcs rn!
@inland pasture i run email for many years and never seen a use case where you need 64gb or more
I have around 2000 SMTP connections per day
Using postfix and dovecot plus relay server with postfix and ASSP
is a x470 gaming pro carbon compatible with a ryzen 7 3800x
alright because im running a ryzen 5 2600 so does that mean i have to update bios
yes you should update the bios
will try not to screw every thing up
depends if you live somewhere where power outages can occur any time
else it's not scary
is scary when you don't know why your cpu is not compatible with motherboard
well its raining so i wont be doing it now
it should be process of 2-3mins
and modern mainboards should have a backup bios, for worst case
and else, you can learn how to solder a new bios chip onto the mainboard
it's fun
or not
rn i wait for my ram memory to come
reprogramming the bios required me to purchase 3 different tools.
They said "RAM is made to run at 1600MHz". It wasn't π¦
don't enter a bios from a chinese tablet. You will brick it π
oof
I had no clue what I was doing, respective what I had to buy. Luckily there was a smart guy doing the same mistake with a bit more knowledge than I have
I see
Wait I have a question
Hm?
Can anyone rate my build?
Yes
You can use https://www.pcpartpicker.com/ if you'd like
Nah Iβm good Iβd have to update my list
Mmk
GPU:Rtx 2070 MSI gaming z
Motherboard: Auorus b450 pro WiFi
I have trident z ram
I have a EVGA supernova 650w 80 plus gold
And like I have the other specs but does it really matter
Is that a powerful pc?
Hello?
Thatβs a good PC, yeah
If you are just gonna game with it, you could get a 3600 if thatβs cheaper for you
If you are wanting to overclock with great cooling, many recommend a Dark Rock Pro 4, or an NH-D15
I believe the Dark Rock 4 is also good, but I am not too sure
The Dark Rock Pro 4 is more of a better option since it can allow Trident Z ram sticks
You might be able to do so with the NH-D15, but Iβd recommend looking it up to see the ram clearance for it since I have no idea if it does
I believe you can find a 2070 Super for pretty much the same price as a 2070 right now
Because all I saw was 400-500$ on both cards
Some super cards went as high as 600$ though
finally got 2 monitors hooked up to my pc so happy streaming will be alot easier now
Lovely
No u

^ latest threadripper gaming perf
One hell of a job compared to T2/1 threadrippers
That's good.. but you're now comparing it primarily to a 3970 & 3960 (which I presume is newer than 3950?
correct
T3 are the HEDT line from ayymd
think Xenon
3950x is consumer end
T3 (3960x/3970x) are server/productivity end with like 36 cores
Oh... wait... so you're comparing a non-consumer 3960-3970 to an actually consumer end 9900k? That seems a little fuckin slanted doesn't it? lol
haha
the Xenons arenβt even that hot really either
j/k obviously
also itβs a point to be made about the new 10980XE or whatever it is
hmm, I'm gonna have to look at that one then
They lifted their NDA literally 24 hours before AMDβs was
and it sucks even compared to the 9900KS
which is just laughable
They also dropped their prices from 2k to 1k
so effectively the lineup went from
2k: 3970x and 10980XE
1.4k: 3960x (still does generally better)
Seen from intel, it's the more core alternative. It is also the objectively worst out of all high core alternative.
the 10 whatever?
10980XE seemed good but ehh
10980XE. It's not difficult to remember, as they never changed the identifier, just series number.
For gaming, 9900K still performs best. 3950X being a good cheaper middle ground for more core and thread heavy loads
9900K isn't all that better compared to the 3900X, and the 3950X is less gaming focused.
man, the youtubers has not been kind towards 10980XE
My PC is sub average and kinda shitty
Same but still good. It's an ultrabook though so that's the main reason.
Only issue is (unsurprisingly) heat.
yeah ludvig, i'd say it's pretty representative of the general consensus that Intel can't argue / defend any semblance of superiority that they clung onto before Zen 2 that justified their price premium, now that they're behind AMD in the nanometer wars, and honestly I can't wait for the potential CPU arms race that we'll see going into the 2020's if Intel actually gets their act together.
The 10980XE release honestly has the same energy as the pre-Zen AMD days, where their main reason of purchase was moar cores
Largely overshadowed by their competitor, and just an ok product, but nothing groundbreaking
Yeah, I wasn't made aware of that until LTT pointed it out, and it's always bad news bears if I have to learn something from LTT.
Intel's corporate goons are downright sinister, their engineers may be bright, but their legal and marketing squads are vicious.
hah, havn't watched it, watched Jays
oh yeah, I've been watching J2C for a while, reviewing some of his bending tips for a December hard line build rn as a matter of fact!
cost me a pretty penny, but at least it'll run GTFO well
π¬
my pc is sub-par atm, haha
but I'm building a new one, need to play GTFO π
or I mean, it's just getting a bit dated.
haha it's alright, it took me four years of saving in high school just for a "so-so" build.
I have two year's ago's "top of the line" specs, but I've been doing water cooling builds / PC builds and recommendations for friends and myself since four years ago.
it's a i7-4770K with a RX Vega 64
I've got an i7-8700K and 2x 1070Ti in SLI
I have a 2080 ti waiting to put in, but feels like shaming it putting into this build
nahhhh bottlenecking fears are stupid unless you're adding a TITAN V to a Raspberry Pi
bigger reason is I'm getting the new stuff soon, so I'll be building the new one anyway
can't be bothered changing this one then
It's honestly depressing sometimes because I work for a tech e-seller, and every time I walk into the warehouse and see 2080Ti's, I get sad
I'm the Returns Supervisor at my workplace, so I see a lot of 20-series cards coming back
Mostly due to heat issues
probably be using either a 3800x or a 7900x
perks of game dev, getting random parts π€·
Are those Ryzen and Threadripper chips, or is the 7900X an HEDT Intel chip?
3800x is new Ryzen
7900x is the older Skylake X intel chip, yea
Why am I even asking lmao, I have google
3800x is 8 cores, not their highest
I wouldn't mind getting a 3950X though, or a 9900KS π
Ahhhhh, 9900KS is overrated
or a 9900k for that part, just took the latest one
Better off buying a 9900K off eBay
Yeah that's fair;
since the company's buying it I wouldn't buy it used though, π
@dense wasp unless you run simulations or anything like that a 3900X is better.
Ah, yes. Glories of company expenses
not that I can afford them atm though π also the perks of being a game-dev I guess
not having released the game yet = bread and water π
I bought a $100 macro lens attachment so I can scan the barcode on the edge of Intel CPU's so we can figure out the serial number when the customer destroys the S/N on the box
Asked my boss if we could write it off as a business expense
He said, "No, but nice try"
I justified it, and he said "Okay, maybe."
since I run my own company it's easier
I just ask myself if it's an expense or not π
and then bookkeeper is it's OK π
Reminds me of the scene from Avengers: Endgame.
"Hang on let me ask the captain, oh WAIT, THAT'S ME!"
@slate rivet for sure!
.... but it's fun with a lot of cores..
Or was it Infinity War...
I do some video-encoding at least
@slate rivet Is the 3950X worth it if we live in a simulation though
Anyways, I need to go finish some college applications, but it's cool to see that the devs are interacting with the community.
I look forward to helping a lot more people with hardware advice once the people really start piling into this server post-release.
Cheers bud,
I hope the project doesn't flop in the end. Last communicative devs I saw were from Breach and Synth Riders, but while the latter are prospering the first ones ran into issues.
That'd be the worst thing possible.
Well, I also hope it doesn't flop π
I think we all do.
I stand by that most games nowadays live and die with their fanbase, but I also can't imagine the sheer amount of dedication to bring a game to life (especially without corporate overlords like Activision and EA) so this is really the first game I've been excited about in a while where I can in good conscience ask my friends to try it out with me because of all the memories we can make.
I really want to be spooked and surprised.
Alpha went really well, so that's fun π
It's cool seeing this server grow as well, it's great getting to speak to everyone like this
first time we have a discord, and being this small as we are, it's invaluable for us
I missed the Alpha because I hadn't been aware of this game until I saw it in an Intel Gaming newsletter of all places
I came from the Intel Gaming Access e-mail. I'm sad I missed the last test phase. Looking forward to the next one !
Nice to know we reached new people with that! π
make sure to be here next week.. π
@slate rivet Never thought I would be thanking Intel for anything
Same.
I just bought my computer and suddenly, free games and all.
Never opted for anything but that's positive spam.
(Never thought I'd use "positive" and "spam" in the same sentence.)
π
Yeah Intel fucked me over... like they're fucking over their customer base rn
I love how the newsletter just goes on a tangent to mention GTFO, though thank goodness they did.
Intel:
BLACK FRIDAY SALES HAVE BEGUN!!!
by the way have you heard of this game called GTFO, it's pretty cool you should check it out, beta access is free, and that's a great price
I'm actually really excited to try it out
Also while I'm excited what does this have to do with PC building?
Intel is a CPU company that focuses primarily on the sale of processors, though other divisions of marketing, particularly gaming (since those benefit sales of their processors) also exist.
@slate rivet Did I do a good
Brilliant.
Of course
also @molten acorn idk why you posted your RAM in task manager but I decided to do so as well
@kindred forum someone was trying to look for their frequency
Nah, mines 3200 but I have XMP off
yike, why?
I can't be bothered to press the button
In BIOS?
Yeh
It's more of a switch that was tested in factory
You're pretty much denying yourself free performance
Then tape over the dot
Negative.
ROGER ROGER
Is there going to be?
I heard they were renewed, but not for how long.
Kinda like Samurai Jack.
I don't know either
Oh yeah, Clone Wars S7 is going to be on Disney+ in February 2020.
If you count the Lost Missions as S6
Yes.
Mlem
I believe the 'Lost Missions' WAS season 6. It was originally a Netflix exclusive after Clone Wars was cancelled on Disney XD after season 5.
Ooops ππ
With oops you mean having Internet Explorer and Skype open in the background ? π
the gpu is great, bought one too recently. very happy
Rich
@brisk badger work pc lol. And how you find them performance wise
just saying that IE has not only a ton of problems displaying webpages correctly, it is a security risk. Microsoft itself discontinues developing the browser.
About the GPU. It's great! I switched from a Fury X and I am very happy with the performance and that it only consumes around 160 watt when fully used. It gets a bit warm but that's okay since I think you also got a custom fan design for the GPU
Microsoft itself said to stop using IE because of the risk it was. Yes, it's THAT serious.
to be honest I don't understand why they even ship IE by default
there is even exploitation of IE when it's not even running
or better, was
I'm looking forward to chucking it in my rig. I'm upgrading from an RX580 Nirto+ 8gb which I loved to bits
these were also great cards
but the price/performance of the 5700 xt is awesome
it can compete with a 2070 often
While nVidia managed to still have people buying their hardware for a reason despite the price, Intel completely messed up and now a Ryzen is always better, no matter what.
My pc is pretty much in line with next gen consoles which was my goal. Should be me for the next 5 years easy
I'm waiting for more 5700XT VR benchmarks before touching it
if I don't see any I'm most likely gonna get an RTX if the price drops enough whenever nvidia releases their new lineup
@north bronze loads out on the Sapphire 5700xt Nitro it's the best card on the market just now. Triple fan, good heat pads on ram, good thermal on main chip, around 8 heat pipes, and added heat sync
It's getting huge thumbs up by the reviewers
But it's a beast at 300mm length
Yeah it performs amazingly for the price, but I want to get into VR around June/July for gaming/development
and apparently it doesn't fare as good in VR
unfortunately the benchmarks are lackluster so I can't really confirm :/
Wow surprised cause the rx500 series was very good for 1080p vr
I'm seeing conflicting reviews, that's what's putting me off
as well as crashing on the 5700XT but im not certain
See for me I don't care about vr I just want solid 1080,2k,4k gaming
For 2K it's just fine, but 4K might be extending it too much.
Runs good at 4k
Good test results
If be intrested to see how it runs 8k as it brags it supports it
that's in normal gaming, which it works wonders with, it's just the fact that nobody ever does VR benchmarks with the 5700XT
i did find this, which imo isn't bad https://babeltechreviews.com/vr-wars-the-rtx-2060-super-vs-the-rx-5700-xt-vs-the-rtx-2070-super/
@gray moat sorry, I was talking about 3 screen 4K. Reflex as I'm doing racing sims.
Oh yuck they are using the blower version of the 5700xt for the test
That card sucks bad
Really bad thermals
Yeah I noticed
but overall, unless the AIB cards are way better, which tbh is a possibility, the 2070S seems to perform better in VR
Be intrested to see them use the Sapphaire Nirto+
but the price difference doesn't make it worth it imo
If the 5700XT runs Half Life: Alyx smoothly I'll be happy with it
I wonder, what's a "dropped" frame in VR?
A skip.
must be unpleasant :/
When you have frame drops it's that your PC is skipping frames.
Already unpleasant enough at high framerates without VR, must be hell.
normal PC i know, just wondering how VR handles that lol
hmm they were using an Oculus Rift CV1
the Valve Index is defo another level of VR, I hope the 5700XT handles it nicely anyway

Even at the time it was released.
i wish we had more 5700xt benchmarks >:[
Hi guys
someone has 1070ti with i7-8700k? If yes how gtfo works on this build?
Pretty good
U have?
980Ti
I7-6700k
You have a stronger CPU and similar GPU
I played the alpha on 2k 60fps
Welcome.
Wanna see my foot reveal?
Will send hold on
Teasing a bit of my foot uwu
I had to open
4 boxes
Jfc
GoogaBite loves them, don't they?
My fiance kept hearing about me wanting to upgrade to ryzen and she told me she ordered me a am4 mobo and 16gb of ddr4 2400mhz ram I didnt believe her till I went to the amazon orders cause me and her share a account and saw these
They will be here tuesday and my bro gave me his ryzen 3 2200g to put in the mobo till I can get my ryzen 5 2600
You lucky one.
Well, 2400Mhz ain't bad
But when you can, get yourself a 3000MHz
Other than that, I hope it's great for you!
@fleet canopy
So without antialising, it looks better basically?
With.
Oh yeah ofc
Well, but it is also an approximation.
It depends... there are many kinds of Anti aliasing. Some work better then others... but mostly they all use more Hardware-Power.
also @fleet canopy nice gpu
And some are incompatible with other functions/games.
It takes the pixels around the other pixels, and depending on the aliasing, it changes the pixels as to provide a smoother/better image.
More advanced still is yet practically the same.
But there is AI anti-aliasing in the works.
And what'd be the real benefit of that?
Better image quality.
I mean, i get annoyed if AA is turned off, everything is flimmering. Its hard to explain in only words.
Accuracy be damned.
i do plan on getting 300mhz ram and a ryzen 5 2600 and a rx 580 8gb out of taxes but now it will be cheaper instead of over 600 it will be prob around 400
3000mhz srry

question 4 all u techy guys and gals when i go from am3+ to ryzen will my hard drive be ok or will i need 2 reformat them
Your hard drive will be totally fine
No need to worry about the drive if you are going to upgrade any parts
But reformatting it is good for changing to different drives for main drive like SSD for boot
You don't need to do it though if you aren't doing anything to the drives though
i already have my ssd as my boot drive i was jw if i needed 2 do anything with the drives or would they just be plugged in and working
They will be fine
ok 4 more days ahhhh tuesday needs 2 hurry up
So just saying
That while you are changing hardware*, you may need to reactivate windows when changing platforms like that
^^^^ I went through that exact issue, when upgrading my hardware, changing Mobo will also make re-activating windows on the new machine a real pain. I couldn't get my current windows copy to work but luckily I had a free copy of windows through my college at Full Sail
Re!
Damn, you get it lucky at least
My 2070 Super came first, and I'm still waiting for my Dark Rock Pro 4 and the paste
Oi... I'm running this specc
1 x AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
1 x ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING, Mainboard
1 x be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
1 x G.Skill DIMM 32 GB DDR4-3200 Kit,
1 x Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB, Solid State Drive

brothers friend is selling me a 7700K plus Mobo for $250
I also gave them a VR headset for $50 and haven't gotten the money yet so that more than makes up for it
A pretty neat deal. That eliminates like 100-150$ from what might be it's original price
I know GTX660 is on their minimum
If you're alright with around 30fps, that's probably the kind of performance you're gonna get. That's what my buddy was getting with an R9 270 and an i3. I'm only guessing here of course.
updates on the Valve index
I fixed the issue where looking at the middle of the screens were blurry, i had to move the headset a bit above from my face.
the controllers i'm still trying to get used to
ah, so you're keeping it?
usually takes a little longer than 24hkurs
I'm currently flexing this macbook pro, 555 amd gpu. 16gb ddr4 ram. totally ready ehem xD
1080TI
64gb ddr4 RAM (Cause Rendering in Maya, Renderman, Substance Painter, and Premiere is a RAM rapist - currently game art student at full sail)
Forgot what mobo I have, its an MSI something awesome or other.
1000W Powers Supply (Cause it matters?)
aaaaaaaaand 1tb PCIe SSD by samsung. the go fast kind.
OH and here's hoping this game was built with ultrawide monitors in mind ;)
P.S. 10 Chambers, looking for an intern? ;D
yeah man been using firefox since came out in 97 best internet browser
well I know ive been using it since i was 9 or so
Im getting the asus prime x570βp for the ryzen 7 3700x anyone have any experience with it?
well if they should be compatible
they should probably work
man that's one hell of a mobo, I wouldn't worry
I heard there were heating problems with the X570 boards
On like this one specific part of it?
They do have a dinky plastic fan
And mine had a tendency to run maybe just a little bit too hot
But in fairness it's the middle of summer
I just hope I spread my thermal paste right lol
kek
First time I've ever done it
CPU seems to be at reasonable temperatures with the 3700s stock cooler
50-60 idle and 70-80 at load
Then I go into the BIOS and it's at 90 and I'm like
Sounds interesting
Oh, one issue you might have with that setup and especially with the stock cooler is that the fan constantly revs up and down
Like every 12 seconds I'd say
Apparently you can fix it by changing fan curves or by getting a 3rd party cooler
@red sinew Just stick your computer outside and OC everything, should be fiiiine
Who needs a liquid nitrogen cooling tower to OC single core processors to quad core speeds when you can just stick your computer outside
Just put it in a tub of cold water
^^^^^ thats a great idea, don't seal the case or anything just straight to the tub
nice n cold
Yup!
liquid cooling 2.0
The future is now
In a world where bathtubs are in your office
that's a solid fan though
I feel like the people who say Chrome uses a lot of ram are the same ones who keep a billion tabs open at once
nah chrome takes up more ram
trust me
over the same usage of tabs, ect Iβve had less ram usage with Firefox
less than 500mb with Twitch, 2 youtube tabs, and a download in the background
Firefox is god awful
ok chrome fan
I mean interface wise
I use a ton of tabs
eh
it could be better, itβs ok for general use
but yeah
chrome sucks w/like 20 tabs of school stuff
(google docs, ect)
oh yeah and Hardware Acceleration is bad for older systems
540 tabs open on firefox beat me bish
Iβm talking low spec laptops
I can easy do shit with my new pc
but like, Iβve gone full in to Firefox at this point and Pocket is really useful
I've been using the Edge browser on my phone just because it makes it easy to save links and send them to my pc
Pocket!
I do laptop to/from pc so thatβs why I stick with pocket/Firefox
i donβt send much from my phone
ALSO I got a Steam Controller before they sold out
$5 + shipping is great
but they're all gone now
I bought 2 more but they forgot to stop taking orders or something so it got refunded
So many people reselling that shit
I got an extra steam link way back when
Peasants
Wouldn't be surprised if they went up in price. It's a closeout sale because they're working on a newer variation or something
Oo that would be cool
SE V2 would be epic
Iβd buy one if they made a good improvement
I hope they come with a new version but i doubt it
To be honest it's perfect as a media controller aside from the bottons being in a weird spot
when using in in game
Gonna be interresting to see whats gonna happen next year controller wise
WIth the new playstation coming out
It seems like people already found that there's a patent for a Steam Controller 2.0
really???
Yeah especially since they're pushing Remote Play really hard
i recently built a PC and im using an AIO cooler, and the tubes are facing down to the radiator and interfering with the GPU, so im thinking about moving my GPU down to the 2nd PCIe slot, im wondering if that is going to affect the performance or am i overthinking it>
is it a x16 slot?
yes
if it is, youβre fine
then go for it
you shouldnβt see a dip
and if you do, itβs not a x16 slot
x16 and x8 don't make much of a difference at least for gaming
It does actually
^^^
Depending on the card, weaker ones are good for 8x
I said for gaming
But 16x, that's for the good GPUs
Doesn't matter
It applies to all GPU related things
it applies to anything in a PCIe slot
itβs performance based
its a RTX 2070 Super FE
@trail wolf go for it, move it down
if the performance dies, itβs because itβs a 8x slot
thanks guys π
No problem
FPS drop from x16 to x8 would only be about 3-5
Bruh
wait hold on a fucking second
It really is important depending on the card
Hm?
like jeez
w/ a 1080
Oh my
you're not going to half your framerate by going to x8 from x16
that's not how it works
I mean
4 is a big nono
That probably will half it lol
But like I said, the difference from x16 to x8 is not noticeable
Oh yeah, frametimes
The bandwidth will affect your frametimes more than it will your fps
Welp... they took my monitor for replacement.. i got the new more Better premium display port with Vesa Certification
A 1080Ti doesn't max out the bandwith of a 8x lane PCIe 3.0. Though 16x is recommended, it's all about bandwith and bitrate. How many pixels are you outputting, how many bits of information is that, and how much is the bandwith capability, ergo, bits per second.
Once you know that, you can just do the math and see if there's a bottleneck.
Example:
1080p, 120Hz. 1920x1080 pixels, 32 bits per pixels, 120 times per second.
1920*1080 *120 *32 bits per second.
PCIe 3.0 is 1GB/s per lane.
B is byte, and 1 Byte is 8 bit.

Question
right
it's a tricky one, but I would say 42 is the answer

GPU: Rtx 2070 Gaming CPU:Ryzen 7 2700x Ram:trident z rgb 16gb 240hz monitor
Then the rest is like
are you buying the parts? or pre built
240hZ but "just" a 2070
2tb barrocuda
Recommend seeing if you can get the newer CPU's
Is that not enough
pre built or are you buying parts?
don't do seagate, dad
it looks good but i don't know what you are after. also 240 frames are difficult to accomplish in some games on ultra settings
True
Itβs not pre built
it's very important to know before
ok
Go with a 3600 instead
less cores, but slightly faster
I mean will the 2700x perform fine for gtfo?
comparable to a 7700K
The 2070 can max all games in 1080p
yeah, but overall the 3600 is better for gaming and not much worse for compute shit
Also not much more expensive
The 4790K i borrowed from my brother is faster in games than my 2700X
lol
but yeah the 2070 and 2700 are fine. I have both of those
But just thought I'd make recommendations
Just dont "waste" money on a 240hz monitor.
It wasnβt a lot
It was like 200 on Black Friday
I had to try and convince my friend not to buy a 4K 144hz GSync Ultimate monitor because he wanted me to
It was quite cheap
Black Friday I guess
WHAT
Dafuq
Had to do a payment plan
I mean...
$200 a month
thatβs fucking stupid
my 240 hz was like 250
LMAO
Yeah
And u pay 1,4k for a simple monitor
I 99 only?
i have ~140$ per month xD
Yeah rx 570-580 always been good
Expect it pumps up a lot of energy
Had to switch my power supplie for that
Especially since DX12 and Vulkan games are being pushed more in 2019-2020
Which is better
Yah most likely new aaa games
2709x or i5 9600k
2700
But I mean yeah
I have the 780ti... its good enough for my needs
I'd rather go AMD if u wants it for gaming
i mean. AMD became much better in the last years ^^
780?!
Cheaper and better, Intel is most likely for design or 3d stuff
U know what I mean
so apparently the 10980X is best used as a paperweight I've heard
Lol
Hm
Its an AMD fx8320
Yβall talking about beast pieces and I donβt even have the money to get my gtx1060 laptop repaired :(.
I had a AMD fx 6300
How much do you guys think I could sell the 4790K for? It's been used since 2014
It was enough for 4 years
@exotic flume What happend?
so I don't want to go too high. Buy it looks like they still go for quite a bit
If the 4790K is still it's original price
Coke killed the motherboard after a year
Turns out laptops and coke donβt go well together
Who knew
Then sell the 4790K a little less than original price depending on how used it was
Like the 1060 3GB is still 200$ lol
What are ur setup anyway?
And I could sell it for 150$ if I wanted to
OC'd but also constantly water cooled
Or 175$ If I can
I wouldn't go with a 3gB GPU anymore
Gtx 1050ti still holds up tbh
y sure.
that's 4gb
Not if ur that one nerd who really wants the quality
I need the mix
4gigs is actually quite a bit more usable than 3
I dont need the best quality, but it shouldn't look like minecraft
Like 8gb ram is enough tho
sure
but ram is cheap now
Obviously
"Cheap"
Well I mean
you could be spending $300 back in 2017
Ram doesn't affect that much the gaming when u have 8gb
wait, the prices are that low nowadays?
Yeah
Holy maggeroni
Quick question
I have a single 8gb stick.
Did u guys play the alpha?
60-80 usually. faster kits can be up to 100
Played **
you can get $32 for $100 though
I mean, it should be atleast 1600mhz
Β° ΝΚ Β°
I have a intel pentium processor, i'm good right? 1gb ddr ram, i'm ready to slay. nVidia 6800, 300 watt powersupply. Oh yea SLAAAYING. I have a CRT Monitor, and it has color . Refresh rate of 20ms. So ready for some GTFO xD
Just within my lifetime (29 years) computers have advanced so much, it's awesome.
God damn
xD
oh my lord
me and the boys rolling up with our raspberry pis to GTFO
haha
So true! we can fit tech in a USB stick that is more powerful than computers 12 years ago. freaking nuts
Who got dat dial up though
broadband!
4gb version of raspbery pi
right? madness
I'm gunna make one a media server for movies and stuff
(just don't tell D0c)
I already know where to get my 5gb usb drives
Hm
to be honest, I don't computers evolved much, especially the past ten years
Depends on what you mean by "much"
Intel has held technology back for many years. Finally with competition we see now improvements
they haven't
Idk if they were holding back. I think AMD just had a break through. Even Intels latest chips that just released can't compete and they're cutting prices.
of course they held back
my 10 year old pc, 2500k, 8gb, HD5670 could still play games on the lowest
CPU wise, we have doubled power
GPU wise though :)
what did they do since releasing the second generation intel i7's?
If they were holding back then intel would have magically released some crazy processors to compete with AMD, but it isn't happening
intel didn't do anything when having the lead since 2010
look at the generations they released
GPU still only has one good GPU for gaming
it's just releases with minor production improvements
Competition drives technological change. there was no competition, why would intel try
Yea nVidia takes the cake with GPU's
2080 Ti is still top
Direct X, Hydro cards, PhysX
can't wait for the 5500
But hopefully AMD does have a good GPU to beat the 2080 Ti
and the raytracing from amd by the end of this year
the big market is not high end gpu's
Yea real time ray tracing is a huge technological advance
it's midrange. it's a smart move for AMD to no longer compete there, at least for the time being
Even in the 3D modeling world, being able to realtime render models is so awesome
AMD is doing rays soon, so either NVIDIA is going to focus on performance
Or they probably will have another trick up their sleeves
Yea i'm interested to see what they do with their next line up of GPU's
nVidia i mean
novideo
?
AyyMD
Shintel
NoVideo
kek
I don't really give a shit about the company though
I mean, you can buy a GPU with 24gb and a CPU with 64Cores... but why should you...
As long as the product is good and priced fair, then that's important
Instead of 150% price for each fucking frames on 2080 Ti
play on words for nVidia, no video. I haven't had any issues with nVidia cards. My 480GTX finally died after 7 years of use, then i upgraded to the 1080Ti
I usually wait 5 generations of cards and then just buy the best thing out there
My 1060 3GB is still alright for light-medium gaming usage ( Like performance, not for amount of time wasted on gaming )
It runs R6S pretty well on like
Medium I think
3GB VRAM though is ass
Y, i mean, IF i had the money i would take a gpu with 6gb.
the 80 series cards architecture always holds up to the test of time. 1080Ti runs star citizen full spec
me and the boys with the AMD version of the 1060 3gb and able to run r6s on high/ultra
yea its always their top of the line for every series
1080 is pretty good too
980, 1080 2080
My brother is looking into that
poor hardold with a 2k monitor
Poor 1060 3GB, it'll be collecting dust for a while
Yea it probably still has 4 - 5 years of life before gaming out grows it
Unless my brother's girlfriend's GPU is weaker than 1060 3GB
he said it was probably an R9 270
I really want to invest in a Hydro card
Why lmao
the hydro 6000 is 3.5k though lol
Are you going to use it for work only?
Cause it's made with rendering, modeling in mind
Ah, sounds neat
render times, batch render times are significantly decreased
780 :P
titanX is a bargain
Or Titan RTX
It's not too bad either, but might be pricy
Titan RTX is 2.5K
Apparently the Titan RTX is the first fully unlocked 2080 Ti?
Titan RTX and 2080Ti are pretty similar in performance. Hydro cards aren't made for gaming they're tuned for what I do. You can game on them but the performance within a game probalby wouldn't be any better than a 2080. I believe Linus Tech Tips did a video comparing Hydro cards and gaming cards.
It's really interseting
I love his dedication for technology
linus sex tips
He's more of an entertainer then an Tech-Youtuber ;D
Dropping them must be one of his best ways of testing it
I don't like his WAN show but his usual content is very polished and detailed. he does a good job
physical blunt force test. Super important xD
if you drop your desktop/ laptop. will this tech survive?
Hm
"A cheap Quadro without Nvidia's pro drivers/support. Doesn't make any sense from a gaming standpoint." - Someone's shit on Userbenchmarks
Well then
Right, they're not made for gaming
"Price: Everything you ever loved." - Another thing on Userbenchmarks for Quadro 8000
buying a quadro card for gaming would be a very expensive mistake
RTX 8000
I mean... how are you supposed to fill 24gb as a normal person. I mean.. without forcing it
A richboy mistake*
i said "normal" people :P
rendering maxes out 64gb of ram
iirc someone with the 16gb radeon viii said he hadn't seen anything over 11gb
renders my computer as a brick till its done
especially batch rendering animations
takes a long time
Radeon VII didn't get much love though, did it?
It should have used 16GB of that VRAM
Maybe he didn't do heavy render?
I doubt, it should have at least used up all that
You'll see Linus do render tests on video cards using Eevee renderer from blender
HBM is OP
and that is just 1 frame
Eevee renderer?
Ah
Maya uses Arnold, but i'm using Pixars renderer called Renderman
I'm not too much into the animation work part so I'm not exactly too sure lol
All good, its what i want to do for a career and i'm currently going to college for game art and design
at Full Sail
Lovely
tis
If I'm still home on Monday, I might be able to pull off some deals on a better mobo CPU
Hey if you gotta phone you can take advantage of cyber monday. Don't have to be home for it π
I have everything in shopping carts witing for Monday
already shopped
I doubt it'll happen since I just paid nearly 600-650$ of a 2070 Super and DRP4 on non sale
hopefully they don't go on sale tomorrow, then you can justify not waiting lol
Wdym?
You just paid for two expensive items that aren't on sale right? With tomorrow being Cybermonday, hopefully they don't go on sale so that you can justify buying them before cyber monday. As opposed to them going on sale on monday then being disappointed about not waiting
Don't you have two weeks to say "naw"?
?
I think you can also price adjust within a time period if something goes on sale. May want to look into it if the sale is good enough
could get some money back
Even if it wasn't the best idea to not wait, I don't care at all
It's much better than being limited with 3GB and stuck on a 1060
how long have you had that card?
before buying the new one
Oh you mean the 1060
yea
not sure what grade your in now xD
So that was like 2-3 years of it
to compare
oh okay, yea i was goign to say the card is only like 3 years old
gotcha
happy with the transition to PC?
Oh hell yeah lmao
haha Master race!
A shitload of good games and better aims
for sure
As well as not being limited by 30FPS lol
my card is like 5 Years old now. I can't exactly tell
plus modding is nice when it is available
Still works like a charm :D
